The Five Who Weren’t Ready

Matthew 25:10 – And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Matthew 25:11 –  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

Matthew 25:12 –  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Matthew 25:13 –  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Hey all, new blog today. The Bible says in 1 John 4:17 – Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. The Bible says of saved people, NOW are we the sons of God. The Bible says these things have I written unto you, that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life. We can and should KNOW things, we can be bold at the coming of the Lord. But we can be either bold at the coming of the Lord, or be found naked and ashamed. It all comes down to whether we are saved or not, and then how we are living. Judgement is coming. Hebrews 9:27 – And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. And judgement starts with believers first. 1 Peter 4:17 – For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? What about 1 Corinthians 11:31 – For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. If only we’d judge ourselves, then we wouldn’t need to be judged! We wouldn’t need to get found out! We wouldn’t need to be ashamed!

So we are all going to be judged. And judgement is not far off… we can know God’s judgements right now, they are written in his word. The day of the Lord doesn’t have to come as a thief upon us, we can be ready and prepared… in fact we are commanded to prepare ourselves. Just like Noah prepared the ark. Are we preparing to meet our Maker? Build a strong house based on the solid, sure, eternal foundation of God’s word. We will all stand before God. Revelation 20:12 – And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

So it’s time to fear the Lord and depart from evil. Unless you want to come to that fearful Great White Throne, where your life will be laid bare and held up to PURE light of God and his word… and you will be found wanting… and not just a little… MASSIVELY. Guilty. And then cast into the lake of fire with the devil and his angels, weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth, torments… FOREVER. It’s not joking business. It’s time to get right with God, both saved and unsaved alike. Because although believers can’t lose their salvation, they can also suffer loss. 1 Corinthians 3:13,14 – Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. God’s word is the fire… Jeremiah 23:29 – Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Let the fire try you today, or wait till it’s too late, but the fire is coming to all our lives to try us. The trial of our faith is a trial by fire. Fire burns up, fire purifies. Holy fire is good for us. To burn the rubbish off our life, and then what’s left? What will remain? Hopefully you are saved. The burning bush burnt, but was not consumed… it’s why Moses turned aside… because he couldn’t work it out… we only don’t burn up if Jesus is in us… we endure to the end, and last the test of life because of Jesus in us. He will see us through to glory. HE is faithful.

How we are now is who and what we are for eternity. If we are unsaved now, after we die, we can never get saved. Revelation 22:11 – He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. So it’s important right here, right now. The Bible says awake thou that sleepest and Christ shall give thee light… it’s time to awake out of our sleep. Only Jesus can wake us up, it takes God first visiting us, and then us responding, we need the drawing power of God upon us today. But we are living in spiritually cold times, the word is not being preached, the glory has departed from churches, we have church, but God is not in it… and there is no mighty work… sure there’s entertainment, flashing lights, and fuzzy warm feelings, but no spiritual reality at all. We need to pray for God to have mercy upon us and visit us and call upon him and seek him with all our hearts, and not miss when the Holy Spirit ploughs up our heart and draws us to God. The previous verse says… And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. The time is at hand… it’s at hand for you and for me. The Bible is not sealed, God has laid his will bare for all of us. Jesus… believe on him or not. It’s no mystery. Revelation 22 is the last chapter of the Bible. People today are seeking new words, new things… in fact anything and everything but the truth. God’s word, God’s will, God’s instructions is all available for us today… there is nothing more to add… in fact adding and taking carries a fearful curse… there is a hymn which says “What more can he say than to you he has said?” God has spoken, he has spoken to you today. What are you going to do about it. Is the Bible good enough for you? Because what’s coming next is in the chapter. Jesus says, Behold, I come quickly. And The Bible says, even so come Lord Jesus. The letters to the churches in Revelation 2 and 3…. repent, get right with God… or is he standing at the door knocking and you won’t let him in? Are we lukewarm, are we sleeping, are we even saved? The book is unsealed… the time is at hand, and even so come Lord Jesus.

There is a story in the Bible that Jesus told of 10 virgins (Matthew 25), 5 were ready for the coming of the bridgroom, 5 were not. 5 were wise, 5 were foolish. 5 were prepared, 5 were unprepared. Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane the night of his betrayal said watch and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. He went and prayed, but came back and found his disciples sleeping, and not just sleeping, but FAST asleep, DEEP in slumber. The disciples could not endure. Jesus said when he found them sleeping, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. It’s true. We need his strength, his power, his life in us, or we just won’t make it. Like Peter, we will try walking on the water of life, but then the storms will come, life gets boisterous and overcomes us and we sink. We need to get our eyes on Jesus. John 3:14,15 – And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Jesus was referencing an Old Testament story where the children of Israel rebelled against God, and they got bitten by fiery serpents which were lethal, the fiery serpents bit them in the wilderness, and Moses (as per God’s command) made a brazen serpent, and whoever looked on it, lived. We need to get to the cross, look at the Saviour of the world who died for YOU. Get to the cross. At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light. That’s where the light is, it’s where Jesus, THE LIGHT of the world, died for us. And it’s where he said, it is finished. Getting right with God is getting to the cross and repenting of our sin and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection for you. Believing and receiving what he’s done for you. Personally. John 12:32 – And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. God is drawing you today, we need to lift up Jesus, he was lifted up for us, if we get him first and look and live and stay the course, we will make it home. Keep our eyes on Jesus. We never grow up from the gospel, we never outgrow the cross, the blood of Jesus Christ. Never. Ever. Hebrews 12:2 – Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Judgement won’t be a time for negotiation, for solving the past life. It is at time of sentencing, it’ll be too late to do anyting about it. After death, then it’s time to face consequences. And God will judge you according to the word. Jesus said in John 12:48 – He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. There we go, the word of God is what judges you. You have the word of God. You can get right with God today. You can know his judgements, his testimony, his will for your life. What’s his will? Believe on his Son whom he hath sent to die for you in your place for your sin. Jesus said if ye love me, keep my commandments. The Bible is the “book of life”, it truly is, you want a book on life, about life, your authority for your life, you cannot be wiser than the book of life guiding, and governing your life. Or you can wait till it’s too late, when the sentence is passed down and meted out. Hebrews 10:31 – It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. The time is at hand… the Spirit bears witness in earth, so does the water, so does the blood, and they all agree in one. We are without excuse. Creation bears witness of Jesus, he is the firstborn of every creature, he created all things, he sustains all things by the word of his power.

The virgins were commanded to trim their lamps with oil. Oil is a picture of the Holy Spirit. Does our lives show the trimming of the Holy Spirit. Has God trimmed your life? Is your life trimmed with oil? Is your lamp shining? Jesus said to let our light shine. We can’t shine our light, if the light is not in us. Jesus is the Light. There are false lights, Jesus is the True Light. Has your life been changed? Is there evidence of repentance, of conversion, of new life, of Christ’s life within you and flowing from you? Jesus said abide in me. If we abide in him, we will bear fruit. We only bare his fruit, it’s his fruit, that’s why its the fruit of the Spirit. Work of the flesh, or fruit of the Spirit? Flesh produces death, Spirit works life. Flesh is tiring, futile, it is WORK, there is no rest. The wages of sin, what you earn from your work of the flesh is DEATH. We are just the branches, he is the vine. If you don’t abide in him… the Bible says you are cast forth as a branch, and withered, and men gather and burn them. Are you withered? Are you dry, dead, barren? Are you going to be burnt up forever? Isaiah 33:14 – The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

So is our life trimmed with oil, are we ready? Or are we sleeping? The 5 foolish virgins tried borrowing from the 5 wise virgins… but they couldn’t. Well this is true… it’s up to each of us individually, you can’t live off someone else. Your walk must be your OWN and must be real. Doesn’t matter if you are surrounded by the most faithful Christians, you can be surrounded by truth, immersed in church and religion, you can know all the Bible, you can have everyone else fooled and even yourself, but if you are not truly saved yourself and truly right with God yourself… you will be rejected, as the 5 foolish virgins were. They were shut out. How terrible, to be shut out. The world of Noah’s day was shut out… the ark was shut one day by God, the door shut forever on them. No escape. And there is no escape if you reject Jesus Christ. It’s a sad but very real truth. It’s why the gospel is urgent… the gospel that has gone out into the whole world, the gospel which has been preached to every creature. Colossians 1:23 – If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister. Stop looking at others, get right with God yourself. Dont be moved away, deceived away, seduced away from the truth. God will sort the others out.

The next event on God’s calendar is the coming of the Lord Jesus. He’s coming as a thief. Will he find faith? Or will you be asleep? Jesus gave us his word. It’s written down for you. It’s all there and available. He gave us the commission, to go out into the world and to preach the gospel. To bid everyone to the feast, to go into the hedges, to tell others… both our lives and our words speaking to people. And now it’s Jesus coming back. Are you ready? Am I ready? Surely he comes quickly. He’s not tarrying. It may not seem so, but he’s right on time. The scoffers say… where is the promise of his coming? Everyone mocks today, just as they mocked Noah. But one day, that great day came. The great day is coming. Will it be the day of wrath for you which abides on all unbelievers? Or will it be the blessed eternal day of Christ? Which is for all those saved people, who will enter into the joy of the Lord, the eternal day, no night, no sin, no curse, tears wiped away from our eyes. It’s time to get right with God. Five were wise, five were foolish. It’s time to prepare.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
