For Those That Believe In God, But Do Not Believe In Jesus Christ

John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

For those that believe in God, but do not believe in Jesus Christ… Jesus says to you “ye believe in God, believe also in me.” Please read this all the way through before rejecting Jesus Christ.

There are a lot of people who believe there is a “God” or a divine being or cause somewhere out there. Maybe you’re one of them! If you believe in God, but haven’t come to saving faith in Jesus Christ, this is for you!

First of all, if you really are intellectually honest… there has to be a God. Nothing cannot produce something. Disorder cannot produce order. Creation cannot create create itself. Do you really think you came from an ape from a fish from a rock from nothing? Really?

Of course there is a God. When we see a book, we know someone wrote it. When we play a computer game, we know someone designed it. When we drive our car, we know someone made it. Go and look at the stars at night… there is a God “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

Maybe you’ve used a word like “creature” before, well that word comes from the words “create” and “created”, because inbuilt into our very language is the knowledge of God. What about “universe”? Uni-verse… God gave you a universe… Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” … there’s your uni-verse!

So yes, there are plenty of atheists (don’t believe in God) and agnostics (don’t believe we can know anything) around… but really, by and large, people do believe in “God”.

Because we are born with a “conscience”. “Con” means “with” and “science” means “knowledge”… because you were born “with knowledge” of God. People believe in God because they’re created with the knowledge of God in them… that has to be educated out of them. What God put in you has to be removed by people that do not know God.

The reason why the Bible calls atheists fools is because they deny the very knowledge God put in them that they were born with. It’s like you denying that you exist, it’s just nonsensical. And it’s delusion, and that’s why our society is like it is, denying obvious truths and lying to themselves and believing it in their heads and hearts.

So if you believe in “God”… then the issue becomes “who” is that God? Maybe that’s where you are hung up. Because sure, there are a lot of gods out there. Look at all the religions, the deities in cultures around the world. Which one is true? And many people find comfort and justification in the multiplicity of beliefs around the world… because to them it absolves them from accountability and culpability to God because “it was impossible to know which one is God”.

But it’s very possible! In John 8:42, the Lord Jesus Christ said “… I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.” He’s saying… I’m from God, I’m speaking on behalf of God, God sent me to talk to you! God sent me to tell you how to be saved!

The Lord Jesus Christ called God his Father… to say that God is my Father, what a claim! And in John 7:29 he said “But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.” Remember, he was talking to people that believed in God, thought they knew God, and yet he’s saying… I’m from God. I know him! He’s sent me! How would you have reacted? How do you react?

How is this possible? How could and does Jesus know God, speak on behalf of God and claim to say what God says, and not just roughly or guess work… but PERFECTLY. John 8:28 “… I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.” EVERYTHING he said and did was what God told him to say and do.

The thing you have to realize, is that Jesus Christ wasn’t just an ordinary man. He was the Son of man, so he was perfect in humanity. But he didn’t have an earthly biological father like you and I. He had a special birth… God was his Father. He was God born into his own creation in human flesh. That’s why the Bible says of Jesus Christ “God was manifest in the flesh”.

So while we come from beneath, and are made of the dust and go to the dust when we die, and are of the earth and earthly, Jesus Christ said his origin was very different “Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.” The fact that Jesus came from God, being God sent, is the key to understanding how he could speak like he did “never spake man like this man”

One thing that astonished all those that heard him was the authority with which Jesus Christ spoke. Because Jesus spoke with authority about God and on God’s behalf. He told people what God’s will was. And he could do that, without lying, without guessing, without deceiving… because he knew God, because he came from God, because he was and is God!

But there was a problem. He spoke to a lot of people who believed in God and were quite religious. So if they believed in God, you would have thought they would have loved who God sent to them. But they did not! When God revealed himself to humanity in his Son Jesus Christ, they rejected him… hard. Why? Because they, like we all, have a real problem with God. Even religious people have a problem with God. And to understand that problem with God, we need to go back to Genesis 3  and the sin and fall of man. The sin of man brought a separation and enmity with God that has perpetuated throughout generations from Adam til now. You’re just as much an enemy of God as there has ever been in your unsaved state.

But here was an incredible thing. People that thought they were “spiritual” and “ungodly” revealed in their rejection of God’s Son that they really weren’t spiritual or godly at all. God was not their Father. They did not know God. They were not right with God. And maybe that’s you as well today, like them, dead in your trespasses and sins. So just like today, many people back then claimed to know God and yet Jesus proved to them that they did not know God.

Jesus said in John 8:55 “Yet ye have not known him; but I know him; and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.”

Note the phrase “liar like unto you”… because everyone who speaks on behalf of God falsely, and there is a whole world of those, they’re all liars. The only person who could authoritatively speak on behalf of God is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. So if you want to know about God, why not believe in Jesus Christ who came from God, who… because he knows of God and knows God and is God… he can pretty well tell you what God has said!

This is why it’s so important to to actually know Jesus Christ for yourself. Because if you live and think according to others, to your peers, who are liars, they will most likely prevent you from ever knowing God for yourself, because they come between you and God.

You know, Jesus Christ taught that he is the only way to God. The Bible says there is “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” Look up what mediator means! It means the ONE and ONLY way to God is through Jesus Christ and by Jesus Christ. And he can facilitate your reconciliation to God, because he knows God and knows you, and is God.

But you see, Jesus Christ is where people get unhooked. Because they don’t struggle in believing in “God”. But where they got and get offended is when God is revealed in his Son Jesus Christ, like back then and so today. It’s where the Jews, supposedly God’s own people, lost it. And it turned out they weren’t as “godly” as they thought… because when God was revealed to them in his Son Jesus Christ, whom he sent… they nailed him to a tree for it. Jesus Christ really proved how anti God and separated from God humanity truly is. And that’s what judges all of us… our unbelief in Jesus Christ is the sin that seals us to hell.

For many people today, their problem with God is “Jesus Christ”. That’s why the Bible says he is “the stone that the builders rejected” and he is “a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient“. Jesus Christ is where you stumble in relation to God, he’s meant to be your salvation, but he’s instead what you trip over into hell.

Because God isn’t changing his plans. The Bible says of Jesus Christ “him hath God the Father sealed”. It’s Jesus Christ or bust. There is no other way. Never ever will be. Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Many people would like to come to “God” some other way, their own way, a way that seems right to them, but as Jesus Christ said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

So we can establish, and we see and know that many, many, many claim to know God… back then and now… but they’re all liars… because only Jesus Christ truly knew and knows God. Jesus said what God said… he spoke with complete authority on behalf of God because he perfectly knew God and knows and says what God says and requires of man. And that’s where you are going to have to meet God, in and through Jesus Christ, he will not meet you anywhere else other than the foot of the cross of his Son and at the empty tomb. You’re going to have to fall on the stone, or that stone is going to fall on you in the end.

Think about this, when Jesus said God was his Father, and he knew God, and he knew what God said, and God had told him what to say, and if you rejected him you were rejecting God… YES it was all quite a claim, no doubt. Crazy? Blasphemy? And it was received as such. People called him a blasphemer for it. John 5:18 “Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.”

They were offended at him. And maybe you’re offended too. You thought you were spiritual, but your rejection of Jesus Christ shows that you do not know God… AT ALL. And they envied and hated him and rejected him for it. They called him a liar. We know God! they told Jesus. We know him better than you! They were affronted by the realisation that not only did they not know God at all who they claimed, but they were in fact against God in every way in their lives. He was holy, they were wicked. He was sinless, they were sinful. He told the truth, but they were liars. His Father was God, but theirs was Satan.

And while many make claims but few as audacious as the claims Jesus made… yet the claims of Christ and those prophets and history gone before him were corroborated in many ways… like by how he lived, what he said, what he did, what he endured, and ultimately in rising from the dead. Who could rise from the dead but God?

But to sum all this up, I quoted the verse where Jesus said “Ye believe in God, believe also in me” … maybe you believe in God… but do you believe in Christ? Because if you do believe in God… you must believe also in Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ is the only way we know God, see God, are made right with God, fellowship with God, and go to God when we die. And that’s the context for that verse… John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” If you reject Jesus Christ, there is no place with God for you now, nor in the world to come.

If you do truly believe in God and seek God, and seek an explanation for why you exist, what your purpose is, what will fulfill you,  where your meaning is, where understanding and wisdom and knowledge is, where life is, where light is… it is all in Christ. God has revealed himself to man in his Son Jesus Christ. God will meet you in Christ. Jesus said in John 14:23 “… If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

You know, knowing God is actually really simple.  Read John 1 for how simple it was, John the Baptist said “Behold the Lamb of God” when Jesus came to be baptized, two disciples heard him speak and followed Jesus, Jesus saw them following and asked them “what seek ye?”, and they said “Master, where dwellest thou?”, Jesus said “come and see”, and they came and saw where he dwelt and abode with him that day! It’s that simple. You can get saved and abide with Christ this day. God has not made finding him very hard, but we make it hard with our sin loving lives and unbelief and massive appetite for lies. You don’t need chakras and meditation and years of searching and studying and exploring all the religions and finding spiritual experiences… you need Jesus Christ… who said “ye believe in God, believe also in me”.

But to finish, if you reject Jesus Christ, you are rejecting God also “He that hateth me hateth my Father also.” If you do not receive Christ, you do not receive God. If you receive Christ, you receive God “whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.” The truth is, everything in relation to God hangs on what you do with his Son Jesus Christ, back then and just as much today. You’ve heard the saying “God send”, well Jesus Christ is a God send, for he was God sent. He came from God, he lived for God, he went to God. If you reject him, you will die in your sins. If you reject him, you cannot go where he has gone to heaven. Your and my only hope is Jesus Christ, please do not reject him, and as Jesus Christ said “ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 30 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
