Far Above All
Ephesians 1:20 “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,”
Ephesians 1:21 “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:”
Ephesians 1:22 “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,”
Hello readers, new blog from Ephesians today, and thinking about this phrase “far above all”. Because what we learn here in the book of Ephesians, and in many other scriptures also, is that Jesus Christ is “far above all”, having received that from the Father, his Father. Yes, far above all, and all means all.
Let’s get this established first… whoever and whatever your idea of “God” is… the Bible says that there is a God, and that God has a Son, the Son of God Jesus Christ. Furthermore, the Bible says that God has highly exalted his Son, and given him a name that is “above” every name… that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven, in earth or under the earth…
Because Jesus Christ is “far above all”. “All” means “everyone” and “the whole quantity” and “the whole” and “the entire thing”. So no one and nothing ever, any time and all time, is excepted from what this verse says… no matter who you are, where you come from, what you believe… Jesus Christ is above it, above you, above me and above all… and not only above all… FAR above all. There’s distance too.
When someone is above you, that is a term that indicates authority. Someone above you has authority over you. And if they are above you, that means you are under them. When you are under someone or something, it means you are under their authority and power and dominion.
And people hate this. They hate that Christ is “far above all”. Just think of when Joseph told his brothers his dream that they would bow down to him. They never thought he could or would be “above” them, and it angered them and made them jealous and envious to be told so. And maybe you, not in your wildest dreams, can picture yourself bowing the knee to Jesus Christ, because you’ve lived like he is not above you your whole life… when he is and was all the time.
That Jesus Christ is far above all has far reaching implications. It settles every argument. It resolves every dispute. It means that what he says is unquestioned. Noone is his equal.
He is far above me. He is far above you. He is far above this world. He is far above the devil. When you appeal to him, you are appealing to the highest authority in existence, ever, for all time.
When you think about it, this life is all about who can be highest. Everyone is trying to get higher than the other. People try to get higher in job, higher in rank, higher in status, higher in money, higher in sport, higher in stature, higher in righteousness even. But there is a reason why the Bible says that the Lord is most High… because there is none higher, he is the highest. You’ll never be higher, ever.
Because we know that all things are under Jesus Christ, everything and everyone is under his authority. And that gives us a real and sure hope. That lets us know that our faith is not misplaced… but in the right place… the heavenly place, and at the right hand of the Father… that’s where my hope and faith is.
And whatever injustice or trouble or trial or tribulation you have experienced or will experience in life, Jesus Christ is above all. It doesn’t matter who you face, what you face, Jesus Christ is above who and what you are facing.
So I hope that you can think about what this phrase “far above all” means for you in your life. And you know that when you are saved, and you are baptized into Christ by the Holy Spirit, and because Jesus Christ is above all and in heaven… so are we with him. And as sons of God in Christ Jesus, we are far above all in him, with him and through him.
We have a Bible that is far above all. There’s nothing to apologize for in the Bible, it is the truth. We have a salvation that is far above all. There is nothing better than being saved from your sin, and how God has saved us is far above our comprehension. God has given us a grace, truth and life far above all in Jesus Christ.
We have experienced mercy that is far above all. Noone is more merciful. We have a God who is just above all. Noone is more righteous and holy and true. We have a God who’s love is far above all. Talk about a far above all love, to send your Son to die for us wicked sinners. What a far above all love, that seeks and save the lost, that died even for those who will never believe on him.
It doesn’t matter how you think about it, far above all is an incredible truth and fact about Jesus Christ, and in many ways, that Jesus Christ is “far above all” is a key foundation for our faith. There’s nothing outside of or beyond him. There is nothing you will experience in this life that is beyond him, and that’s a real comfort. And we are not hoping and trusting in a loser. We all like to win, well Jesus Christ is the winner, read the end of the book, he wins. And in him, you will win also.
And to finish, think about this… because Jesus Christ is far above all, that means getting saved is above all else the most important thing in your life. That he is far above all means that he is the most important and relevant person and consideration in your life. He is far above all other needs and interests and pursuits, you need to be saved and be sure of it. As he is ultimate, that is ultimately what matters. Getting right with Jesus Christ is far above all the most important thing you can do in your life. And you do that by coming under the authority of his word, not questioning, disputing and disobeying anymore, but instead believing you are sinner and trusting in him to save you. Believe and be saved by Jesus Christ, who is far above all.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
Amen!
