Luke 16:27 – Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:
Luke 16:28 – For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Hello readers, thanks for reading, please read carefully and consider what is being said because it is what the Bible teaches. The Bible tells you what your dead loved one who died in their sins wants to tell you.
I have often heard people speaking on behalf of dead people, supposing to know what they would say to them right now. Often people talk about how their departed loved one is “up there looking down on me”. They talk about how their loved one is “in a better place”. These are all nice things to say, but it doesn’t make them the least bit true.
And I’ve often wondered in amazement at the authority with which people talk about what happens after death. Because it’s incredible how they speak like they know, when they do not know and cannot know what is after death. They haven’t died, how do they know? Noone has died and come back to say how it is… so how does anyone know? Stop making up lies and convincing yourself of them so you can rationalize the terrifying reality of death.
And the thing is, there is one, and only one person qualified to speak about death and what is after death. And that person is Jesus Christ. He is the Creator. He is God. And because he died and rose from the dead himself, he is abundantly qualified to not only talk about death, but he is also qualified to save us from death… because he conquered death.
This short blog is about what your dead loved one who died unsaved wants to tell you. You can know what that dear one who went to hell wants to tell you. In Luke 16 we read a true story that Jesus Christ told about a rich man who died and went to hell and a beggar who died and went to heaven.
In that story that Jesus told, we find out what every single dead unsaved person wants to tell their loved ones. Every single person that has died without Jesus Christ has the same message for their family and loved ones they left behind. And that message is “don’t follow me to hell”.
Your departed one doesn’t care for your riches and achievements and self righteousness and sentiments… your loved one just doesn’t want you to follow them to hell. They’re not looking down from somewhere smiling at your sin. They don’t want to tell you to just live the best life you can now because there’s nothing on the other side.
So you have a choice. You can choose to believe what you want to believe about what they would say… or you can choose to believe what Jesus Christ, who actually knows, said they want to say. God has not left us guessing what someone who died and went to hell wants to say to their loved ones. You can know what they’re telling you right now and they’re saying “Don’t follow me to hell”.
The rich man died in his sins, and he has been in hell since Jesus Christ told the story, and his situation is never going to get better… ever. For this rich man, when he lifted up his eyes in hell, he realized it was forever. He realized it was too late. The only thing he had left in his existence was the hope that his brothers wouldn’t follow him to where he was. That’s all he cared about, and that is the only thing that your loved one cares about for you… that you do not go where they went.
We learn that this rich man had five brothers who he could not do a thing for now… being in hell… so all he had left was hoping in someone to send his message which he now knew was the most urgent and important message of their lives and our lives. The gospel message is the most important message for you to receive and lay to heart in your lifetime. Don’t go to hell! What torment for this rich man to know his brothers were going to hell just like him, and he could not do a thing about it.
As Christians, we are tasked to deliver the message from hell that they cannot deliver. What a message it is. It is an urgent message, it is the ultimate message. Noone in hell can get a message out, but as Christians, we know the message, we have the message, and that’s why we preach the gospel and tell people about Jesus Christ. We tell people about Jesus Christ so they do NOT go to hell. The gospel is about saving people from going to hell. Jesus Christ died for you, so you do not have to go to hell.
The only thing with the power to change your direction and destination from hell to heaven is the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the ultimate message, which even those in hell now believe in. As Christians do we truly believe in the power of the gospel, the word of God? See, this rich man thought a miracle like Lazarus being like “hey guys I’m back” would lead to his brothers getting saved. But no… it was God’s word that would save them, but who’s word they had rejected like the rich man. If God’s word doesn’t convince you, nothing else will.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is still the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth. Repent of your sins and believe on him and be saved… or die and go to hell. That’s your choice. Jesus Christ is the difference between heaven and hell for you, me and everyone.
So what does your dead loved one want to tell you? “Don’t follow me to hell”. It’s a simple message… will you hear it? Will you heed it? That’s what that unsaved loved one wants to tell you today, and every day of your life while there is hope for you. Because once you go to hell, it’s over, your chance is over, and you cannot make any more difference to anyone else either.
What a responsibility we have as Christians to warn people not to go to hell, to carry the message from hell… which is not to go there. When are we going to take this responsibility and privilege seriously? Seeing people delivered from sin and death and hell… is there anything greater? Nobody should go to hell having not been warned by us. Hell is a real place, and hell is where every single Christ rejecting sinner goes. It’s horrific. But it’s true. Don’t follow your loved one to hell, they don’t want you to either.
Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 30 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
