Job 6:6 – Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

Hello readers, new blog today, and still forging ahead with Job… we don’t seem to be making much ground, but we actually are, Job is loaded with truths relevant to our lives today. Job asked a simple question… is there any taste in the white of an egg? This is the question at this time when coronavirus has taken hold of the world… a question to those of us who profess Jesus Christ. Is there any yolk to our profession… which an egg is really all about? What is an egg without the yolk. Imagine breaking open an egg only to find egg white, and no yolk. There are many Christians who have the “egg white” of professing Jesus Christ, yet there is no “egg yolk” to the profession, there is no substance to it, there is no Holy Spirit, there is no foundation of Christ really in their hearts and lives.

But this is what we need at this time. In the time of fear and panic and uncertainty and turmoil and instability… do we have something real to hold to? Job didn’t know where God was at during his trial. He had friends telling him it was because he was so bad, and like when we go through suffering, we wonder where God is at in it all… and WHY is this happening to me!? And where is God in all this, is he seemingly nowhere to you? Imagine going through this without any real hope, without any reality there… but the egg white of religion, but emptiness at the core of it all. We need substance… the Bible says faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. Faith is believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and his word, believing with the heart and obeying it. Trusting in him based on the truth of his word, what he has said, and what he says doesn’t change. He can be counted on, if there ever was a man of his word… it’s him.

Job said after this verse that the things his soul refused to touch are his sorrowful meat. He felt he was going through something he didn’t want to go through. He didn’t want hsi faith to count for nothing, neither his life. He couldn’t bear the thought of being not right with God, he didn’t want egg white religion. But God was in control of Job’s trial, and God is above and before all. There are so many cliches, and it all looks so complicate and impossible, Job sure couldn’t figure it all out! Yet God has got it all sorted.  Even if we can’t see God in it, yet his grace is with us, and yet he is no less God. And he will bring through all of us who have truly been saved and just simply trusted him. We can trust him and commit it all into his faithful hands. Remember, his faithfulness is what truly counts. If it all relied on our faithfulness, we’d be sunk many times over.

Don’t surround yourself in the egg white of profession, of dead religion, of a life professing Christ yet really destitute of him in all areas. That yolk in an egg is surrounded by egg white, but at the center is the yolk. Is Christ at the center of your life? Have you been born again? You know, that yolk is new life, it contains an embryo… new life. Do you have that spirit of fear sweeping the globe, or the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, who gives us calm even in the clouds and storms of life. We may be in a cloud of not knowing, not seeing, but what does Revelation say… behold he cometh with clouds. Jesus is in the cloud with you, hear his voice saying to trust him in the cloud… he promised to be with us always… even to the end of the world! It can seem like the end of the world right!. He is there with us… just like he was in the fiery furnace with the three Hebrew children.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God, and he loves you so much he sent his Son to die on the cross for your sins. Behold the love of God. And in all this, God can turn your heart to him and establish and deepen a relationship with him that was not possible before coronavirus. God doesn’t want you to have egg white religion… he wants you to be truly repentant, truly forgiven, truly saved… and walking in truth. That’s the purpose this coronavirus will serve, God is way ahead of it all… he works through real life happenings and events to work his will. God uses a flood, he uses a donkey, he uses kings, he uses a jawbone of an ass, he can and does use Satan… and he can use a virus. Trust him today, make sure there is substance to your profession, make sure at the end that it’s not all just egg white of profession and dead works and religion… but the yolk of true, tried, tested, proven salvation at the middle of it all. Don’t let your life be a tasteless shell of an existence, but a life that counts, a life of meaning and purpose, a life built on the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ… believe and trust him today. We all need Jesus Christ… and we don’t need egg white religion.
