Saved In Childbearing!?

1 Timothy 2:14 – And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

1 Timothy 2:15 – Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Hey all, new blog today, and a quick thought. I never got this verse. A woman saved in childbearing? But this verse isn’t talking about a woman’s personal salvation. It’s talking about the role of a woman, the impact and potential a woman can have in life.

Satan opposes the woman. Her role, her impact. Most women, and that means MOST, women do never realize or even understand the impact and importance they play in obeying God’s will. In Proverbs the Bible says the virtuous woman’s price is far above rubies… God says… who can find? That’s how rare a godly virtuous woman is.

This world opposes women. The feminist movement, the way the world thinks and works, really completely undermines what God has for women. God has this amazing plan and potential for a woman to impact her family, those around her… and the world… for the glory of Jesus Christ. It’s a way totally foreign, totally alien to this world, totally foreign to our fleshly thinking. After all, how can things like modesty, submission, obedience, staying at home raising children… where the glamour and attraction in that? IN fact, the world, and worldly women, believe those things are a waste of life, and hold God’s ways in contempt… and ultimately God in contempt.

God’s way and role for a woman is so severely attacked and perverted in this world today it makes the brain spin. God is for women. God loves women. God wants you as a woman not to burn your life. Your potential for God is off the charts. God’s role for women does not make them any less worthy than a man, any less equal or any less anything. God’s role is just different for the woman, man and woman are different, but of same worth… they have different roles, responsibilities, and that’s fine. But both can be used massively by God when in obedience and submission to God’s will, commandments and role for them.

As a child, teenager, and growing up, even I, as a guy scoffed and scorned at God’s stupid looking commandments for women. I didn’t even want a woman like that. So I understand the average Joe’s mind when it comes to what to look for and want in a woman. Guys want beauty, sexiness… but it takes God’s wisdom to look for true quality in a woman. And realize how inestimable a godly woman is.

Women don’t realize their worth to God. If we look back through the Bible, and history since, we see at the start of the lives of mighty men of God… that it was a humble, faithful mum right there at the start. They may not get the accolades from man… but God sees. God promises he sees. After all, why does God say this? 1 Peter 3:4 – But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. Great price! We see in Proverbs and throughout the Bible God puts GREAT PRICE on a woman that obeys him… if something is of great price to God… well you know its an absolute jewel there and a privilege.

It is as simple as obey God’s word, but understanding the hows and whys can take a lifetime. And in fact will. God founded the earth and heavens by wisdom and understanding, and we cant even begin to scratch the surface of God’s wisdom. But every now and again God peels back the curtain and shows us truth, not just truth because that’s how it is… but the WHY of why his ways are so right and good and eternal.

We only get one shot at this life. The Bible says remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth. Because I’ve been a child, my opportunity to obey God as a child is gone. The opportunities available to me as a teenager to follow God… well they’re gone too. My opportunities as a young man are there, but they’re going with every passing day. Opportunities come up in day to day life to obey God, and I either take them or miss them. Once I’ve been a parent, I won’t be able to be a parent again. Our decisions matter, our choices matter… following God matters. If I obeyed God as a child, that lasts forever, if I disobeyed, well then it’s dust and ashes. We say all the cliches like “only what’s done for Christ will last” … but it’s actually true… the only things that matter are the things done that were obedience to God, that arose out of a repentant, saved, faithful true heart. Which God gave us the grace to do anyway. But the point is… women, like men, get one shot at things. One shot to obey God, or just go the world’s way like the rest of the masses. The Bible stresses how rare these women are, so rare that who can actually find one?

This tells you that there is a huge huge enemy to God’s role and potential for a woman. Satan wants to ruin you. The world is after you. Everything wants to prevent you from a lasting eternal legacy. So we come to this verse… saved in childbearing!!! What on earth? Does this mean you MUST HAVE KIDS to be saved? No. It’s talking about how important God’s way is for the redemption of the role of the woman. Eve was deceived, and the devil got her. The devil won. Womanhood was plunged into disarray by this. But God’s redemption for women is off the charts. Remember that verse in Romans… where sin abounded… grace did much more abound! Because if you are a woman, obeying God from the heart with his role for you… well you can impact this world perhaps even more than a man can. You can raise children for God. Those children can go out and win people to Christ, can be used mightily by God… and their children and their children’s children. What a legacy! What an impact! To be that foundational building block for something God can use and which rings and echos through eternity… well that’s some potential.

God has a specific design for a woman, just like he has for a man. If both obey God, then the harmony is so right, the marriage so blessed, because if we are right with God, then we are more than right with each other. And it is important to have children, but to raise them for God is such a privilege and honor and responsibility. To put in place the foundational blocks that will guide that child and stay with that child when he or she is grown. To play such a CRUCIAL role, what a great great responsibility. No wonder Satan wants to prevent that. Because throughout history, godly women have bruised Satan immensely, and keep on doing it. Moses… Samuel… John the Baptist… JESUS… all the way to Isaac Newton… John Wesley… they had godly mothers, who raised them in obedience to God’s word. Just like the names of these men stand in time, and their obedience and faith and the grace of God… ultimately Jesus Christ is glorified… who is right there with them? At the heart of it , it was a God fearing mother, who cared for them, who brought them up, who first told them the gospel.

This verse is highlighting the absolute privilege and power of godly women. Women can have so much power, in submission, in the conversation… that they can win an unsaved husband to the Lord. Things like submission, obedience, reverence, modesty… the world scoffs at these… but these virtues have huge amounts of power and blessing from God. Not fake rubbish, but just genuine virtue out of a heart that seeks and puts God first in her life. A woman can impact the world immensely. Sure, it might be in a different way to the way a man does… but it’s of same value to God, both of equal importance… and all to the glory of Jesus Christ. The world is after your potential for God. Satan is going to try and devour you and consume your potential, your blessing, your ability to obey God and impact the world around you. By obeying God in raising your children, you can bring huge amounts of blessedness… who knows what God will do with the children you raise, whom you raised for the Lord? Do you even care? That’s God’s redemption, salvation for womanhood… and if you raise children for God, your impact on this world will be immeasurable.

God’s ways are so far ahead of our weak, sinful little minds it makes the head spin. And we cheat ourselves out of all the potential and blessing and impact we could have… we can make a splash in eternity just by obeying God’s call on our life, just by simply humbling ourselves before him. We all have different situations, but it’s the same God. It’s the same truth. His clear, single, still, small voice. Women have immense potential, power, purpose from God, but few will ever realize it, much less live it out. It’s sad, but it also makes it very special for that one woman out there, who will have a different spirit in her, who will hear his voice and obey. It will be worth it, even if it seems stupid, even if it looks like it won’t pay off. What better advice can you get from someone than to not obey man… but to obey God in what he would have you do? Read God’s word for yourself, God is for women. Don’t let this nasty world cheat you out of it. Study Jochebed, study Hannah, study Mary, study Elizabeth… study Sarah… study Esther… these are names of women whose faith and legacy will truly last for eternity.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)

  1. Wonderful statements of support for obeying God’s word. All scripture is there for us to put total faith in not just the parts we choose. Extreme sin requires extreme ultimate
Truth of God’s word to destroy it.Thank you for the encouraging words to support God’s word and Glorify him. I will encourage my family of this part of scripture again.
