Who God Is Is What God Says

Psalm 138:2 – I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Hebrews 1:1 – God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Hebrews 1:2 – Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Hebrews 1:3 – Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Hey all, new blog today, and just a thought for today. Many people have an idol God. The first of the ten commandments God gave was, thou shalt have no other gods before me. There are many “gods” in this world, but they all are posers, they are liars, they are masqueraders, because there is only one God, the true Lord God of the Bible, the same God who created the world, who judges his creation, who became man and rose from the dead, who has power to forgive, who has power to save, who has power to speak and what he says happens.

In James the Bible says in God there is no variance. What God says is who God is, and who God is is what God says. In John we read, in the beginning was the Word. Jesus is the Word of God, the living Word. And the Bible is the written word of God, and there is no difference despite them being distinct, they are the same. The Bible says the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. It’s hard to understand but in an earthly sense we know that we are people, and what we say comes from us. Because God is not a liar, he changes not, there is no variance neither shadow of turning, what he says is who he is. In fact, we cannot know God but for his word and the power of the Holy Spirit ministering it to us.

People try to separate God from his word, and in so doing commit idolatry and leave themsevles wide open to deception. Because the spirit world is real, there are many evil, lying, seducing spirits, devils in the world. You can’t separate God from what he says, because what he says is perfectly consistent with who he is. Unlike us, where we often say things we don’t mean, and lie, and are very inconsistent, for example with the same mouth we bless and curse and speak good and evil… but God is perfect, holy, righteous, what he says, his commands, words, judgements, law, statutes… they are perfect, they are who he is. We understand who God is by what he has said, that’s how he chose to reveal himself to mankind.

In John, we read that no man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son which is in the bosom of the Father he hath declared him. Jesus is the image of God. Jesus said the word he spoke was not his, but the Father’s which had sent him. It’s all a bit mind boggling, but just think in your life. You haven’t seen God or known God, all we’ve got is the word of truth that comes to us, the gospel, and we either believe it and are changed by it or we reject it. But that’s what faith is, the word of God coming to us, and we either acknowledge it and obey it or we say no thanks. The Bible does say in John… the light shined in the darkness… and the darkness comprehended it not! The Bible doesn’t need changing, as man does, but instead the Bible should change us. God’s word is fine, in fact it is the most pure, high, holy thing in existence…  the Bible says God has mangified his word above his name. Unlike us, God’s word is his bond, God honors his word, he doesn’t lie, he doesn’t fib, he honours the covenants he makes with us. Back in the old days, when people used to honour what they said, keep their word… well that’s a godly characteristic, being people of our words, because God is the utmost example of it. He keeps what he says. And it’s why we should keep what he says, as the Bible says, both in terms of obedience to the word, but even moreso in keeping the word he has given us, and not swapping it in for lies.

It’s a simple thought today, but we know that God is true and every man a liar. We are a fallen, sinful wicked creation. We may not keep our word, we may lie, we may deceive, but there is God in heaven whose word is perfect and true. He keeps his word, his word is perfectly consistent with who he is. If you will hear his voice, the Bible says, harden not your hearts. Because like with so many past generations, like the one who didn’t enter the promised land… the Bible says the word, the gospel, did not profit them, because it wasn’t mixed with faith in them that heard it. When God spoke from the mount to Moses, the people shrunk away, because the Bible says in Hebrews they could not endure the word that was spoken, they besought Moses for God to stop speaking. Because his word is so pure, holy, true, that we sinful, wicked, dark creatures cannot endure it, it offends us, we shut off to it, it’s light is too bright, it’s integrity too pure. You’ll only know God by the word he has said and given. After all, Jesus Christ is the Word of God. He is the image of God, he is the Mediator, he is the Way, the Truth, the Life. The gospel is the word of God, and the gospel is the news that Jesus Christ came into the world to call sinners to repentance and forgive them, and save them by offering himself as a sacrifice for their sin. He died for us, while we hated him. The Bible says, Jesus says, thy word is truth. It was by the word of God that this world was made, Jesus made the heavens and the earth in the beginning, he is God. His word can be trusted, his word prevails, and the Bible says when heaven and earth passes away, his word will not pass away. But remains and stands forever sure. It is incorruptible seed, it is pure water, it is the fountain that never runs true, it is the words of life from Almighty God. If you’re worshipping the word of God, you’re worshipping God, there is no distinction. Who he is is what he says. The Holy Spirit always honours the word of God, always ministers his word to us, always exalts and glorifies the Son of God, and promotes repentance, truth, holiness, obedience in the hearts of man. And it’s written down today, and can be written in your heart, upon your soul today if you turn from your wickedness and humble yourself and believe upon him today.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
