Joshua 2:21 – And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

Colossians 1:20 – And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Hey all, new blog today. This blog is about the blood of Jesus Christ. Yeah, yeah you’ve heard it all before. The blood of Jesus, Jesus died yada yada yada.
Well we are all in Jericho, that dark city heading for judgement, full of sin and wickedness. Today, humanity is cooked. Look at the world, it’s full of evil, the Bible says this whole world lies in wickedness, and this world has already been judged, it’s just God is saving people out of it, like he would save Rahab the harlot out of Jericho.
The ships going down, heading to the bottom, its just the life rafts are leaving this world… those people who repent of their sin and turn to Jesus Christ to save them from their sin.
Sin is a big problem. It is likened unto leaven in the Bible. Sin is a huge problem. Sure we can say that and not even think about it. But sin has, does and will corrupt our entire being. It will consume all of us. It is a deadly poison. We do it, and think it’s fine, think we are getting by with it… but the poison is running and running deep. We are corrupted by our sin.
Isaiah 1:4 – Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
Isaiah 1:5 – Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
Isaiah 1:6 – From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
Isaiah 1:7 – Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
Sin will present this picture. I look at my own life, and sin utterly permeated everything about me. From my body, to my actions, to my character, to my words, to my testimony. It has corrupted me fully, spreading like leaven, spreading like poison, until the whole lot is poisoned.
Back in the wilderness the children of Israel were bit by fiery serpents because they rebelled against God in sin. The only cure was to look at a brass serpent that Moses held up. If they didn’t look upon it, they didn’t live. We have all been bitten by the serpent, we are sinners by nature having all descended from Adam and thus sinners by inheritance, and we are sinners by our actions here and now, because we got born and we immediately set about sinning. Noone needed to teach us to lust, to be selfish, to be proud, to harden to truth, to be rude, to hate, to lie. It’s in us, and we live it out.
Sin will so utterly permeate our being that it seems like there is no hope. Leaven affects everything, permeates the whole lot, changes the whole lot. And sin will fester and get worse and worse and leave us gasping for air under the weight of the wages of sin, which is death. Because although sin can be attractive, and seem harmless, it’s got a deadly bite.
We are all utterly corrupt. Deuteronomy 32:5 – They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. Sin will destroy our lives, it will change us, and affect every aspect of our being, character, actions, motives, lives. And those around us.
There is one solution to this predicament. Our life is a pot of sin, and there is death in the pot. It is simmering away, and it is all totally corrupt. Something needs to be added to heal our posioned lives. And that something is the blood of Jesus. It is the only thing that can heal our lives, our character, our actions, our being. The blood of Jesus alone atones for sin, cleanses, washes. It’s all about his blood. Whatever your issue in life, we all have our garbage and sin, it’s load, it’s weight, it’s legacy… the blood of Jesus must be applied to it, must be added. When Elisha started his ministry, the waters of Jericho were no good, but he cast salt into the spring of the water and the water was healed. And surely, our lives, in the spring, in the deep of our heart where all the rot is, the blood of Jesus needs to be applied. The blood does everything, only by adding the blood to the bitter, cursed waters of our life can the waters of our life be healed.
The blood of Jesus makes a change. Rahab let the spies down by a scarlet thread. That scarlet thread is a picture of the blood of Jesus Christ. That same thread she let the spies down with, she left hanging in her window… and while the rest of Jericho was destroyed, she was saved alive staying in the house with the scarlet thread. Jesus’ blood is the only hope for our lives, it is the basis for our salvation, because Jesus’ blood alone, his shed blood paid for our sins, his holy blood paid the price for our forgiveness and freedom. And that same blood, the eternal blood, is the blood that washes us, cleanses us, purges us, restores us, heals us, makes us new. The Bible is the testimony of the man Jesus Christ, and his blood is the centrepiece of it, because his sinless blood had to be shed in order for mankind to be forgiven, and thus we all personally need to come to that place where we repent of our sin and turn to Jesus Christ and ask him to save us from our sins. He can do it, and it’s all done by and through his blood. Without the blood there is no forgiveness, no cleansing … no hope. His blood bears witness today and you can take it if you want and apply it to your own heart and claim it by faith on your life, and in your life. His blood has power.
Ephesians 1:7 – In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
Revelation 1:5 – And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.
