Hello all, new blog today. And talking about sin. Because SIN is humanity’s problem. Everything else stems from sin. Jesus said in John 16:8 – And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. That is the ministry of the Holy Spirit of God in this lost wicked world.

What is sin? Sin is transgression of God’s law, character, holiness, design. Sin is our actions which are AGAINST God. We might not think our sin is against God, but it is. It takes the Holy Spirit to convict a man or a woman of sin. I cannot convince you of your sin, but if God does it will bring about a response, one of hardening and rejection, or one of brokenness and repentance before him. I have sinned against God and against heaven.

You might think your sin is fine, your sin is ok, and your life is fine. But it really isn’t. Living in sin really isn’t that great, you may not see that yet, but it’s really not. Sin is not great, in fact sin is the pits. Sin will take you on the downward spiral visiting every pit, every pit stop on the way ultimately to an eternity in hell. Sin will destroy your own life. Sin may look good, appeal to our lust and pride, but the end is death, be sure of that.

The pulpits in churches are silent today. You won’t hear about sin in them. People become Christianized, they go to church, they do good, they this, they that .. and ultimately it is all deception anyway because the Bible says man in his best state is altogether vanity… our righteousnesses are as filthy rags… there is none that doeth good, no not one… the heart is desperately wicked and deceitful above all things who can know it? God is true, you are a liar, I am a liar, the grand piano is a liar.

How did it all happen? God created man. Man sinned, he disobeyed God. And that disobedience is sin, and sin brings death, just as God said. Death practically in terms of seperation from God spiritually, death physically in terms of we all die, and the worst of all, eternal death where when you die dead in your sins, unsaved, unforgiven because you refused the blood of Jesus… you will face eternity in hell. Jesus will say, Depart from me. Right now Jesus says come, but in the future, he will say depart from me. And then it’s over with for all time. No wonder the Bible is so full of warning to repent and turn to Jesus Christ, to turn from sin, to turn from our wicked way, to acknowledge and confess the truth about each one ourselves, that we are all vile, wicked, abhorrent sinners, utterly corrupt, utterly alienated from God, utterly dead in our sins.

Any church that does not preach repentance of sin is a church you should not be at. Any gospel lacking the message of we have sinned and to forsake sin and repent of it and turn to Jesus Christ and believe in him and his atoning, washing, cleansing blood is a false gospel. Simple as that. Church attendance doesn’t matter. Doing good to other doesn’t matter. Enjoying the social scene doesn’t matter. It’s all vanity. I didn’t become a Christian to become a Christian, I got saved and thus became a Christian following Jesus Christ. People become Christians, but why? 99% of the time it’s for a reason other than repenting of sins and turning to Jesus for salvation from sins, here and now, and in the future. But people love their sin, they love the darkness. Sure they might want to avoid hell, but they don’t want to abandon their sin now. Sure, they might like the feel good aspects of Jesus and the church scene and all the religious garbage, but there is never repentance of sin, there is never a confession of sin and acknowledging of and coming to the truth.

Men don’t come to the light the Bible says, because their deeds are evil. They hate the light, they don’t want to be reproved or rebuked. The cross is foolishness and offensive to them. If you’re so good, then Jesus died in vain. If you’re so moral and have so many redeeming characteristics, then the blood of Jesus was a waste. Go and tell Jesus he wasted his time. So serious was our sin that it took God having to send his only Son. God himself had to die for us, because we all have sinned. ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Jesus prayed if it were possible let this cup pass from me. It was that big a price, that big a burden. Jesus, the person, not a religion, but Jesus a man who walked this earth, a human being, God in the flesh born of a woman, Jesus lived a sinless, undefiled, innocent, pure life. And then he took all the vileness of every human being that has ever lived on himself. Every single sin he paid for past, present, future. No wonder he sweat great drops of blood. He was beaten, bashed, mangled, nails driven into his hands, a crown of thorns shoved on his head, spit upon, mocked, stripped naked… by the people he was dying for who hated his guts. He bore our sin, he bore my sin. It is no wonder the Bible says that darkness filled the land, the earth quaked, the rocks rent, the tombs opened… Jesus took the unimaginable burden and price of sin upon himself, he bore God’s holy wrath… for me.

God is love, but even moreso God is holy. Our sin is against God’s holiness, purity, against the light, against good. And thus even though Jesus loves you, if you don’t repent of your sin and turn to him for mercy and forgiveness of sins you will die and go to eternal hell and the lake of fire.

Sin is serious, we may intellectually assent to sin being wrong, but it really is wrong, it really is putrid. But it takes the Holy Spirit to press that into a man’s heart. In the meantime, I can promise you on the authority of God’s word that… be sure your sin will find you out. Be sure all that sin will come back and haunt you. The pleasure goes, but the sin remains. Be sure of it. Be sure it won’t be worth it. Humanity has a trail of absolute wreckage from Adam to now and to the end of time, all because of sin. It is the problem in our life. Nothing else takes precedence, lack of money, physical health, job, girls… it is SIN that is our problem.

There is only ONE solution to that problem. The Lord Jesus Christ. He died for our sins, and rose victorious over sin, death, hell, the devil. He has all power in heaven and earth, and he alone can forgive you. Sin had a price, a HUUUUGE price that we could never pay, in fact Jesus was the only one in eternity who could atone for our sins. And that price was blood. And his blood was shed for us, he was the sacrifice, sin demanded a sacrifice to please God and pay for sin. No amount of dead animals could do it, the law couldn’t save us, it only showed us how sinful we were, it is the power of Jesus Christ, the person, the man, God in the flesh, alone who dealt with sin. Without Jesus past, present, future we are done. We cannot stand before God but for him. And God provided Jesus, our way out, while we hated him, while we were dead in sins. That’s true love right there, he loved a creation that despised him. Only Jesus’ BLOOD can wash away and cleanse us from sin. Nothing else will do it. Unless the blood covers you you will not be forgiven, not washed, not cleansed, and lost for all time.

Sin is the problem. The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ is the answer. And it may seem all over, because when we sin, suddenly we realize we have destroyed ourselves. It’s absolute carnage. It’s why God doesn’t overhaul our sinful flesh, he creates a new creature in us when we repent and believe. A new creation in God, totally sinless, totally victorious and untouchable even while we yet live in this wicked world. Jesus can make all things new. He makes all things new, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new. So while sin abounded, grace did even more abound. Because Jesus’ blood, his sacrifice, exceeds our wickedness. It’s mindboggling that it can be so. How can it be so? How can the love of God be so great? Jesus can make the vilest clean, there is no sin that the blood cannot forgive and wash and cleanse, it’s the power of the gospel. Redemption of mankind is unfathomable, we go so deep into our sin, but Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. There is joy in heaven, joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that comes to repentance, even just one, then 99 just persons that need no repentance. That’s not an excuse to sin, because sin is the pits, but God came to save. The disciples wanted to call down fire from heaven on a city of the Samaritans… but Jesus rebuked them.. the time is to go out into the fields and hedges and bid all come to the great marriage supper of the Lamb, the water of life is extended to all men, the will of God is that all should come to repentance rather than perish. That is the gospel.

Sin must be dealt with. It will bind you up, it will master you, it will run your life into the dirt. It is a cruel master, and when finished, will have dragged your soul and spirit to eternal hell. Yeah, yeah it’s fine now, all humans have been there before you have. Sin’s fine, it’s fun, seems ok, harmless, innocent. Watch out, it’s got a sting, and it’s full of poison. It’ll poison your life. It must be addressed. It has been dealt with at the cross by someone, Jesus Christ. He said, It is finished. Sin is finished, the work is done. It is mindboggling that God provided for us even while we didn’t even know we needed forgiveness. God came and sought me out while I didn’t want him, I didn’t even will to have him. But when God draws a man, that man is drawn to God, and my responsibility is to respond to the Holy Spirit working in my heart. It’s not time to intellectually believe, it’s time to believe in our hearts and confess sin. 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It is no wonder Jesus is the Light. He is the sole light to this dark world, he is the sole source of good and grace, otherwise humanity is finished, insane, mad, crazy, wicked, vile, filth. We are all filthy sinners, unclean, impure, we need to drag all our sins before him and crucify them with Christ, let him take them for ourselves personally, only he can solve them, only he forgives, and only his blood atones. His blood is good enough for all time, his blood lasts forever. The last verse of Amazing grace…

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
