But… Jesus Turned The Water Into Wine!?

Proverbs 20:1 – Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Hey all, new blog today. And talking about alcohol. Because Christians today are so confused on the issue, to drink or not to drink, to drink in moderation… what about the catch cry of Christian liberty. Right off the bat, Galatians 5:13 – For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. If alcohol and Christian liberty (and you know the truth here, even if you waffle on to me) is really just about you occasioning your flesh… then it is wrong, case close. And well… it’s a very simple issue really, and it doesn’t take you to be saved to know the dangers of alcohol, I can easily mount a compelling argument just based on common sense and logic as to why NOT to drink it. Be honest with yourself… why do you have it? Why do you need it? Why do you want it? What’s it achieving? What’s it doing. If you are not saved… by all means drink away. It’s still not good for you. But if you are saved, a Christian and sincerely want answers… then read on. And it’s not good for you. It’s not good for you. It’s not good for you. You say you can take or leave it, but you don’t leave it, you take it. If you be honest with yourself… and I mean actually honestly look at why you consume it…. and I mean be R E A L L Y honest… you know the reasons are not noble, they are not valid… because it’s not wise to drink alcohol. At all. You will try and excuse it, but really there’s nothing going for it… except for the fact it appeals to your lust, it helps your lust, it assists your lust. You are a carnal, fleshly Christian. And you are being fooled, and odds are if alcohol is fooling you, that’s just the tip of the iceberg in your life. You are a weak Christian. And you are sucked in. Just like Eve in the garden of Eden. The allure!!! And you are allured by alcohol. It’s something to be desired!

Firstly, the main excuse that nonChristians and drinking Christians claim is… but Jesus turned the water into wine!!! Woah, haven’t heard that one before, you’ve really got God there. Bible “cherry pickers” are always amusing, because most, if not all of them… that’s the only bit of Bible they know. They’re not interested in other verses… they’re quick to claim the ones that suit them, but the rest of the Bible… not thanks! So hypocritical, such a joke. But we’ll get back to that. Firstly, lets look at wine in the Bible… because just because the Bible says wine, doesn’t mean it’s ALCOHOLIC. There’s nothing wrong with drinking grape juice… but wine can also be fermented grape juice. And in many ways, alcohol to wine is like leaven is to bread… both have to do with fermentation. Leaven is bad in the Bible, and so is alcohol. Exodus 12:20 – Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread. 1 Corinthians 5:8 – Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Maybe your life is the way it is, because you’ve been leavened… and a little leaven leaventh the whole lump. Some sin has gotten in and instead of the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth, you’ve been leavened and you have no sincerity, you don’t know truth. The Jews have the feast of unleavened bread… leaven is a picture of sin in the Bible. The Bible says purge out the leaven. There are things that need to be purged from all our lives. If you lack purging, which God does, if you lack chastising from God, then it’s a sign you are not saved. To be able to sin, and sin, and sin, and God not deal with you. Means you are not a son of God, he is not your Father, because he is our spiritual Father when we are born again, and he deals with us as sons. Leaven is BAD in the Bible, and so is alcohol. And…. onto the alcohol issue!

Ok, look. Proverbs 20:1- Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Wine will mock you, alcohol will mock you. It’s mocking you today. It has mocked you. You have been deceived. And you are not wise. Guaranteed if you are an alcoholic drinker, your life is a mockery, your life is in a state of deception (deceiving and being deceived) and you are not wise, and have not been wise. I’m sorry, but that’s the logical deduction here. Can this be turned around? Yep. But the status quo will stay the same forever. Get serious, do business with God… REPENT. Hey, you can be saved and drinking doesn’t mean you’re going to hell. Because we are saved by grace through faith. Don’t get confused here. Good works FOLLOW salvation, we don’t work TO BE saved. There are no works involved in salvation, and no work you do before or after helps, assists or merits you salvation. But true, saving faith does produce works. Simple. If you are saved, there should be evidence. How do you line up to God’s word? Or is your life that mockery, that deception… are you not wise… but instead… a fool? Anyway… try to stay on topic! Alcohol!

But then we see in the New Testament that Jesus turned the water into wine. So was he helping people sin? We have just read Proverbs 20:1… so why did Jesus turn the water into wine? What’s going on here? Was the sinless, perfect Son of God contradicting his own word? The Bible says God tempts no man with evil. What was Jesus doing, tempting these people to sin… why was he turning water into wine… to make assist people in getting drunk? Furthermore… Habakkuk 2:15 – Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! In fact… look at the word “tempt” in the Bible to help you understand that just because the Bible says wine doesn’t mean it means “alcoholic” wine. In fact, it just plain doesn’t. Genesis 22:1 – And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. Yettt… the Bible says in James 1:13 – Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. What’s going on here? It’s simple, but we are just being shown here that the same word can mean different things. Here is the Bible saying God doesn’t tempt man… yet he tempted Abraham. There is no contradiction, and just to clear this up, as the Bible is very clear as well, James says God tried Abraham’s faith, that’s what Genesis 22:1 means, he wasn’t tempting Abraham to sin, but he was trying his faith, he was testing his obedience… and God will test your walk to, count on it. He will test your walk, your devotion… he’ll sort you out. You’ve got everyone fooled… but you don’t got God fooled. You don’t. He’ll sort you out, if you are a goat amongst the sheep, you’ll be divided. It’s a matter of when and where… not if.

So we either have a contradiction in the Bible, or we need to do… as the Bible commands… 2 Timothy 2:15 – Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. BUT! BUT! But you haven’t studied the Bible? In fact you don’t open the word of truth do you? Do you even have the word of truth? Do you have an Authorized King James Bible, or some new “Bible”. You don’t have the word of truth… you have a Bible that makes God a liar. You have a Bible where the word isn’t TRUTH, where the word isn’t the AUTHORITY. You instead have a Bible which is subject to you, you don’t have the PRESERVED, PURE, SURE Word. Be honest. What a joke. God the Creator, and he can’t get his word to you. Do you believe, when you read your Bible you are reading THE. WORD. OF. GOD. Your walk with God isn’t even going to get off the ground. It’s such a shame that for so many, their walk is over before it starts, the battle these days is all about “which book” rather than actually getting down to the Christian walk, growing in the faith, and bringing forth fruit in our lives. In fact, why do I even need to talk about alcohol today really? (Don’t worry, we are and will be!) A true Christian should just know it’s wrong. But this is what’s happening here… both in relation to WHICH BIBLE? and in relation to alcohol. Because we end up squabbling over and wasting ourselves on things which should get set, and then we proceed on to living the life. 1 Corinthians 3:1 – And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.Hebrews 5:12-14 – For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

If you are a drinking Christian today, you should be ashamed, you need not be ashamed, but you in fact are a shame. Because you haven’t studied the word of truth, you haven’t rightly divided the word, you havent shown yourself approved of God. God’s not just going to dish up everything to you with “thou shalts and thou shalt nots”. After all, you’re opposed to all that Old Testament stuff anyway aren’t you. You’re a love only Christian, you’re a Christian who just does whatever the hell you want, live your own way, and then you’re going to march straight through the pearly gates? Think again. And you should be ashamed. Can you tell others the gospel? Are you able to prove things from the Bible? If a Mormon comes to your door, do you know how to refute their claims from the Bible? Do you even know what you believe… from God’s word. Can you prove what you believe from God’s word… not what daddy or mummy or pastor says… but from God’s word. Odds are you’re not truly saved. You repeated the sinner’s prayer, you went and go to a church, you got baptized, you feel pretty good, but you’re not saved, not born again. You’re a sham. And you don’t read God’s word, you’re not interested in God’s word and you don’t know Genesis from Revelation. A Mormon comes to the door… your science teacher preaches evolution… your wishy washy pastor speaks drivel… and you’ve got no idea. Because you’re not grounded and founded in the word. You don’t know where anything in the Bible is. In fact you don’t know WHAT is in the Bible. That’s why you’re drinking alcohol. You don’t know your own Bible do you. Prove right now that Jesus is God. His virgin birth. Prove that you’re saved. From the Bible. Can you? You show both ignorance or negligence or both, and perhaps it is a snapshot of your Christian walk. You are not genuine. And it is a big issue, alcohol is a big deal… it is not good for you, it is not good for those around you.

So now let’s get to it. Firstly, think about it, why are alcoholic drinks referred to as spirits? That should be an alarm bell. If you are saved and have the Holy Spirit in you, what business have you got messing around with other spirits? Think about this. If you drink, you become “under the influence”. You are under the influence of something. And it’s not the Holy Spirit is it. Be honest! It’s not. It’s a foul spirit. An evil spirit. That’s why where alcohol is you get nakedness, immorality, drugs, foul language, debauchery, FILTH. Alcohol breaks down inhibitions. It makes people bold, it makes people do what they would not normally do. They are no longer in control. Godly inhibitions are good. There are boundaries, and there is safety in boundaries. Boundaries are good.

We Christians have become so ANTI the word “law”. “Christians” today have an anaphylactic shock to the word “law”. To the God of the Old Testament (who is God of the New). Read your Old Testament, get to know the God of the Bible. The God who is holy, what his wrath looks like, what he thinks of sin, stop living in your fake, sanitized little hypocritical goody goody love everyone (and don’t even have a concept of what love is) world. Oh, we are under the New Covenant. Under grace. Yes we are. We have the Spirit of God in us (if you’re born again). Jesus fulfilled the law, shed forth his Spirit, and that Spirit leads us to sin? Don’t think so. He was sinless, his Spirit isn’t going to lead us to sin? Crazy much? Our forgiveness and eternal life purchased by Jesus getting rejected, despised, shamed, flogged, beaten to pulp, crucified, dying, shedding his innocent, sinless blood for you. To cleanse you, to forgive you… quite a price was paid for your freedom. All so you can go and sin and sin and sin? Live like you want? You don’t understand grace at all. And that’s turning the grace of God into lasciviousness. Romans 6:1,2 – What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Yes, we don’t have to keep the law TO BE saved, but after you are saved, you’ll want to live right, do right. Because you LOVE God and LOVE others. You’re grateful, you understand the MERCY, GRACE, LONGSUFFERING, COMPASSION… the LOVE of God.  And you can only understand love by also understanding things like WRATH, JUDGEMENT, SIN, REPENTANCE, HELL… the fear of the Lord. Look at this … Romans 13:8 – Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. You’ve got a HIGHER calling. The problem is, just like with alcohol, you don’t KNOW your Bible. Seen this verse? Romans 3:31 – Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. The law is good… the law breaks us, we can’t keep it, sin is the transgression of the law, we are all hell deserving sinners… the law brings us to Christ… but the law is good. God’s commandments are good. The 10 commandments are good. It’s good not to steal, to kill, to covet, to commit adultery. Look at this… Romans 8:2-4 – For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The lure of sin, the enticement, the seduction of alcohol. Proverbs 23:31-33 – Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.  Well this is true isn’t it? Of course it is, it’s Bible. Drinking and fornication and adultery… go hand in hand. Truth. It moves itself aright, it pleases you, your carnal, fleshly eyes are seduced, and it gets you… and it hooks you, and it will and has BIT you. Sin has a nasty bite to it. Doing wrong has a nasty bite to it. Galatians 5:19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Drunkness is in there. You drink alcohol, you’re a drunk, you are drunk. Sure you may only be SLIGHTLY drunk, but you take a sip, you’re drunk. And that’s a work of the flesh, the Bible says to be carnally minded is death, the carnal mind is enmity with God, they that are in the flesh CANNOT please God. And drunkness is not only in there, but look at the works of the flesh, and tell me that consuming alcohol doesn’t produce those other things in there? Alochol is synonymous with adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness… But you’ve got your excuses, your moderation, your liberty. You’re hooked, you’re just a carnal, fleshly Christian, or not saved at all. Furthermore, Proverbs 23:35 ends with this statement “I will seek it yet again.” And you do don’t you. You’re hooked. But I can take it and leave it. Yet you never leave it. Hooked. Hook, line and sinker.

The law of first mention in the Bible. Wine is first mentioned in the Bible when Noah built a vineyard, was drunken, and then he got naked. And his son looked on his nakedness, and laughed, and his descendants were CURSED. Alcohol is cursed. It will bring a curse on you. Alcohol’s been a curse to sooo many people throughout history. And people don’t PLAN to become drunkards, wife and children beaters, to commit immorality, to ruin their life and home. It starts with a little. Noone ever set out wanting to ruin their life and bash their wife with alcohol. But it gets you. It bites! It bites you. It’s a curse. Your alcohol consumption will end up with you naked. Naked spiritually, naked in bed with someone physically. And invariably naked in bed with someone you shouldn’t be in bed with, you’re cheating on your wife or husband, you’re lying in bed with someone you’re not married to. Trace your immorality back, alcohol is there somewhere. And as Habakkuk says, Habakkuk 2:15 – Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! People want to look on your nakedness, and laugh. They won’t respect you, and have you ever noticed how people drinking want YOU to drink with them. They want to look on your nakedness. They want to see what you’re like drunk. They want to laugh with you… AT you. And you will be shamed. And there’s a WOE attached. Woe! Woe! Woe! They’re not happy unless you’re drinking too. People vomiting, and people laughing, taking photos. People bent over the toilet, people laughing, taking photos. Waking up after another one night stand… what happened? Waking up Saturday, Sunday, Monday morning, hungover. You don’t know what you got up to. You’ve got no idea what you did, you weren’t in control… the Holy Spirit wasn’t leading you. And you’re hoping the grace of God got you through. You’re trampling on the blood of Jesus, you’re counting his grace for nothing, you’re turning his grace into a joke, you’re turning the grace of God into lasciviousness. And no, you weren’t WITNESSING to others, you were out there living like a devil, doing just as the world does, living like the world. And maybe that’s because you are just flat out OF the world. Is that true? You’re a joke Christian. A joke.

Alcohol is not good for you. It brings you closer to the edge. Closer… closer… and over the edge. Matter of time. You only drink in moderation, you can handle it, you’re an adult. Right. Heard all that rubbish before. What sin has “being an adult” kept you from so far? And you trust your own ability to handle it? You can’t handle it. The Bible is full of examples of people who “couldn’t handle it”. Samson thought he could handle things. He thought he could dabble with sin. And he ended up with his eyes gouged out a public laughing stock. His great strength, and he was made a joke. Brought low by playing with sin. He toyed with his separation. Because as a Christian you should be separate. Separate UNTO Christ… not separate just for separateness’s sake… not a self righteous thing… but separate unto God. The work of the Holy Spirit transforming you into the image of Christ… you WANT to, you LOVE Jesus, you’re grateful to him for having mercy of your sin and wickedness. But look, Samson lost his separateness. And you’re drinking alcohol, you’ve lost it as well. You’re mixing the lines, you’re muddying the waters, you’re playing with fire. And you will get burned. Samson couldn’t handle it, and he was the strongest man to ever live. And that’s why we all laugh at him still, we all think, what an idiot! So strong, yet so weak. Sin will get you. Alcohol will assist sin getting you. You’re putting yourself at a disadvantage by drinking. Natural urges are stronger than your ability to resist. You are living on the edge aren’t you. You circle that drain. You circle it for some time. But just as Eve probably circled that tree many times, finally it got her, the lure gets you. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Genesis 3:6 – And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Eve and humanity ended up the fool. And it was because she SAW. And she was looking not with spiritual eyes, just like you don’t have spiritual eyes on either. You’re not in the Bible, and thus your eyes aren’t on. At all. You’re spiritually stone blind. And sin will get you every time. And Satan will get you. He is FAR smarter than you are, you are and will be no match for him. You leave the word of God… dead in the water.

At this point, Im going to go ahead and make a guess on a few things about you. I run into so many Bible experts, wow they are quick at “Judge not lest ye be not judged”, they are quick with “Jesus turned the water into wine”. Oh, and you’ll quote this – 2 Timothy 2:19 – Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities. Seeeeee, the Bible says it’s ok to have a “little” wine. The Bible says “some” is fine! Ok, Mr. or Mrs. Bible expert, seeing as you know so much Bible… what about these verses… 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 – Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. What about this… Luke 13:3 – I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. And this… Luke 12:5 – But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. And this… Revelation 20:15 – And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. And this… 2 Timothy 2:19 – Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. How are you doing? You’re so quick to use the Bible, you’re such an expert, what about ALL those other verses in the Bible? * silence * I’ll go as far to say that the only Bible you really know is judge not… You’re one of those Christians or just one of those people. You don’t read your Bible. You don’t obey it. But you quote it to try and suit you. You publish your ignorance in so doing. You, sir or madam, are a joke.

Leviticus 10:8-11 – And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses. Aaron and his sons were part of the priesthood. Did you know Jesus has made us all priests to God? You are a priest to God if you are saved. Revelation 1:6 – And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 2:9 – But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. And what’s the Bible saying in Leviticus? Alcohol is bad because when you drink there is no difference between unholy and holy, between unclean and clean. Look at your life, your behaviour when you drink. Are you being holy? No. Are you being clean? No. In fact you’re being unholy and unclean. In word and deed. And you lose that ability to discern between good and bad, clean and unclean. Under the influence of alcohol, you start behaving UNCLEAN, you start doing UNCLEAN. But as a Christian, you should want to be holy and clean. 1 Peter 1:16 – Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. James 4:8 – Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 1 Thessalonians 4:7 – For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

And furthermore in Leviticus, we see that a witness, a testimony is on the line here. The Bible says, that ye may TEACH the children of Israel all the statues which the Lord hath spoken. Well, well, that sounds like a witness. But your witness is trashed isn’t it? Your testimony gone. You can’t teach anyone anything. Because people will say. You drink… why can’t I? You live like the world… what’s wrong with what I’m doing? And they’re right. You’re a hypocrite. Your life, your compromises, your fakeness is easily seen. And can you open your Bible to someone else today? Do you have a word in season, do you have something for a lost, dying, desparate soul? Do you have and know the gospel? If you’re not saved yourself, you DEFINITELY do not. Acts 8:30 – And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? Can you do that? No you can’t. You don’t get the Bible, you’re carnal, you’re a spiritual babe, maybe you’re not even truly saved, born again of the Spirit of God. As you need to be. Don’t trust a sinner’s prayer, don’t trust your baptism… don’t trust your church membership… don’t put your faith in experiences, feelings.. did you repent of your sin? Did you receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your PERSONAL Lord and Savoiur? Do you have a hunger for God’s word? Do you live by and obey God’s word? Are you SAVED?

But all you’re hearing God say is… No, you can’t have fun… you can’t enjoy life. That’s really what you’re thinking. If that’s the way you view God and Christianity and the Bible then why even bother. How about read your Bible. God is all for you enjoying life. The Bible says his commandments are not grievous. His law, his judgements, his statutes, his commandments… summarized as HIS WORD…  are good, clean, holy, just, pure. His word is so good for you, it is ETERNALLY good for you. He’s not against fun, pleasure, joy, happiness. Psalms 16:11 – Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Just do things God’s way.

Anyway, Jesus turned the water into wine. Yep he did. But it wasn’t alcoholic wine. It was new wine, it wasn’t aged, fermented wine. It was the best wine. And wine represents joy, pleasure, life in the Bible, and Jesus will turn the Word of God into just that in your life. His miracles have meaning today. He’ll turn the water into wine in your life. You read your Bible and it’s stale, it’s because Jesus isn’t in it. Christianity is stale… and sure it is… religion is stale… but Jesus Christ is a person, he is alive. But he isn’t in you is he, that’s why it’s dead and lifeless. You look at others (who are probably just as spiritually dead) and of course they’re lifeless to. Stop looking at others. Because when you are born again, your salvation a reality, and Jesus reveals himself and his love to you, then you have joy. 1 John 1:4 – And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. God wants only the best for you. He will give you REAL joy, REAL peace, REAL comfort… and what he gives and does lasts forever. We read in the Bible that ins can and does have pleasure… for a season… let’s not lie about it… fornication, adultery can be good fun can’t it… for a while… just like alcohol… BUT at the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Satan will give you things, the world offers things, and you follow the lusts of your flesh, the lust of your eyes and the pride of life… but it all is temporary, it is all and at the end, it brigns forth death.

I never understood the leasing part till today. Psalms 4:2 – O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. So reader, how long will you love your vanity? James 2:20 – But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? You say you have faith, but there’s no evidence, there’s no fruit, your life is barren. How long will you seek leasing? Because that’s what Satan gives you, flesh gives you, lusts give you, pride gives you… LEASING… nothing you’ve got and done and gained in life is yours. It’s taken from you. Snatched from you. You are betrayed by it all. You live a life in vain deceit… and at the end… it flees from you. Ecclesiastes 12:1 – Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them. Have you remembered your Creator in the days of your youth? Because the days of your youth FLY past… and looking back… YOU WONT have pleasure in them. 1 John 2:17 – And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Your lusts are going to disappear on you, they’ll just vanish. You’ll have no pleasure in all the vanity of life. Solomon did more of what he wanted to do than any of us ever will. He had more women then we will have. He did more things then we will do. What’d he say at the end of it. VANITY! Vain. Waste. Deceit. And that’s what alcohol is and will immerse you in. Vanity and death.

BUT… what Jesus gives lasts forever, there are no catches, there is no sting at the end, with Jesus nothing is vain, nothing is vanity… in fact, it gets better and better. It is good and it lasts… there is no bite, there is no death. Jesus gives life and life abundantly. Start making wise decisions in your life today. In John 2, the Bible says when the ruler of the feast tasted the water that was turned to wine, he knew not whence it was. He knew it was good, in fact the best wine he had ever tasted! But he knew not whence it was! Have you tasted the wine that Jesus gives? Do you know the miracle of salvation, the miracle of the new birth, the joy of the Lord? The life and abundant life, the well of water that springs up into everlasting life? Someone not truly saved has no idea about this wine, where it’s come from, where it originates from… the better wine… you don’t see it yet, you are spiritually blind… if you are spiritually blind, you need to ask Jesus to give you sight. Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner. Because he’s got good wine for you. And when you taste the water that’s turned to wine, truly taste and know it in your own life, you won’t want the world’s slop and sewerage anymore… you will glorify Jesus and have joy in your heart that not one unsaved person has ever known. Repent. Be cleansed of your sin. Plead with Jesus for mercy. Get right with God. Get honest. Get going with Jesus Christ, get serious today, and don’t look back. Psalms 34:8 – O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

When you say that wine in some parts means alcoholic wine which is bad and in other parts it just means grape juice, which is not bad, AND you claim that others are “cherry picking” the bible it makes you sound like a lunatic. You seriously going to sit there and claim that wine in one part means something different then in another part because that how you want to interpret it??? I came here for information and all I got was BS.


    • Hello Lance, thanks for the comment. Jesus spoke of those that strain at a gnat, but swallow a camel. I think that’s what you’ve done here. You label me a cherry picker, when that’s all you’ve tried to do with my post. There was a lot more to the article than what you have said. But seeing as you are so dogmatic on the consistency of the word “wine”… what about principles in the Bible like avoiding every appearance of evil? Assuming you live in the real world, do you think alcohol has the appearance of evil? The amount of evil caused by alcohol is unfathomable. And are wine and alcohol the same? You can have wine with or without alcohol, presence of alcohol is not what makes wine wine. You can just drink straight alcohol and it not be wine. But let’s look at what alcohol is? Alcohol is a depressant, it impairs cognitive function, it can easily lead to addiction. It alters your mood, changes your behavior, it affects the very functioning of your brain and body. It reduces your ability to think logically and rationally, it lessens inhibitions and distorts your ability to make decisions and judgments. If you consume too much, it can kill you. It’ll leave you in bed with other women, it’ll leave you passed out on the sidewalk, it’ll leave you waking up in jail. This doesn’t sound at all like a Christian, like a man of God. God wants you to be Holy Spirit lead, to be thinking very clearly, in fact walking circumspectly, to be able to make good judgments, to be a good witness to others, to not ruin your life with sin which alcohol leads to.

      And you are absolutely kidding yourself if you think alcohol and sin don’t go hand in hand. They do. I’ve talked to many people who justify and excuse alcohol to the death, and really you know why they do? Because they love their alcohol. They love drinking it, they love the sedative, stimulant effect it has at the start, it is their comfort, it helps them associate, it loosens them up. Yeah, the I’ll take the good and leave the bad attitude by “drinking in moderation”. Samson thought he could control his sin… he couldn’t. It’s a pet snake that’ll bite like a viper, as the Bible says, in the end. You cant take fire into your bosom and not be burned. Alcohol is like any sin. It’s like a Judas, it’ll plant a kiss on your cheek while holding the money of your betrayal in it’s hand. Adultery has the initial allurement and excitement, but the end is toxic. Alcohol starts ok, but leads you by the hand into darkness. Sin always has that “good side” to hook you in. But you’re signing up for more than you bargaining for. If you seriously want to follow God, consider alcohol’s end. Context is everything in the Bible, and the same word can be used for multiple things. The Bible says God tempted Abraham in Genesis, then the Bible says God can’t tempt anyone in James. Get some context. What about love? Love can be a broad term that is used in multiple ways. The love of a man for his wife is different from the love God has to us or what love we have towards God, or another brother, or a mother, or a sister, or a friend. And at the end of it, you claim “BS”, we all know what that stands for. Alcohol is terrible in every way for you if you are seriously wanting to follow Jesus Christ. If you think Jesus started a drunken party you’re kidding yourself. He came to die for our sins, and he’s going to help people fall into sin?
