John 6:63 – It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

John 3:7 – Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

God’s words are spirit. A truly spiritual person is someone who firstly is truly born again of the Spirit of God, and who has and keeps the words of God in their heart. It is not a performance that someone puts on to impress the gullible. It is not impossible, abstract, mystical, secret enlightenment. The real thing cannot be humanly generated – John 1:13. God’s words are spirit, the Bible is our spiritual food. This is why we meditate, memorize and read our Bible. We soak our hearts in the Word of God. Man’s philosophies, ideas and imaginations are empty, they hold no water, they give no life, they impart no hope, they build no faith. When we have God’s words abiding in us, we have something of true value for ourselves and to give to others. This is when we see the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the lives of others. The Holy Spirit works through the Written Word (the Bible), not around and not separate to. The Holy Spirit bears witness of the Lord Jesus Christ, and reproves the world of sin, righteousness and judgment – John 16:7-13. If you want the living water, go to Jesus, as he is the fountain of living waters. God’s words are living, moving, life giving water – the Bible says his river is full of water. Psalm 46:4 – There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. Peter said – Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life – John 6:68. The only way we can be conduits of living water is if we first come unto Jesus and drink – John 7:37-39.

It is important to note that we need to be made spiritually alive to begin with. Jesus said, Ye must be born again. It is not optional. It is vital, unless we are born again we cannot see or enter into the kingdom of God – John 3. In Genesis 3, man died spiritually when he disobeyed God. We were cut off from God when Adam sinned. We were alienated from God, we were separated by sin – Colossians 1:21. When we receive Jesus Christ into our hearts by faith, we are born again of the Spirit of God by the power of God – John 3. A perfect, spiritual new creature is born inside of us of the incorruptible seed of the Word of God – 1 John 3:9. We that were afar off can now draw nigh unto God. This is all only possible because of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. After we are saved, we now have spiritual warfare. We did not have the new, spiritual man in us before. We now have Christ in us, the hope of glory. We have a war inside of us, the flesh against the spirit, darkness against light – Romans 7. The world does not know us anymore, the world hates us, just like it hated Jesus – 1 John. Satan renews his efforts against us, Satan will throw his entire arsenal at us. This is why all the more we need to be in the Word of God. Proverbs 18:10 – The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

The Bible says he that is spiritual judgeth all things – 1 Corinthians 2:15. It is God’s Word that judges truly and righteously – Isaiah 11. By staying in God’s word, we can make day to day judgements about how we live, how we deal with situations, what we do and don’t do. Through God’s word we can defeat the devil, we can overcome the flesh and the world. The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God – Ephesians 6:17. The Bible is a spiritual book. The Bible encourages us to compare spiritual things with spiritual. We compare spiritual things with spiritual by testing things against God’s word. God’s word is the supreme and sole authority. It is sufficient for every area of our lives. The Bible says the entrance of God’s words giveth light – Psalm 119:130. The Bible says let God be true and every man a liar – Romans 3:4. If you need light, read God’s word. If you need wisdom, read God’s Word. If you do not want to be seduced or deceived by Satan or man, read God’s word. If you need wisdom, read your Bible. If you need counsel, read your Bible. God’s word is incorruptible seed. God’s word is our sword. God’s word is eternal.

Matthew 24:35 – Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
