Enter Jesus!
Mark 2:1 “And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.”
… Enter Jesus! Let him enter your life, your house, your family, your workplace, your recreation, your enjoyment, your goals, your dreams, your future, your eternal state!
What a difference that will make!
… you facing divorce? Enter Jesus.
… you facing suicidal thoughts? Enter Jesus.
… you facing despair? Enter Jesus.
… you facing no purpose, no hope, no reason? Enter Jesus.
If you let Jesus enter into your situation, be it drugs, be it adultery, be it pride, be it bitterness, be it resentment, be it anger, be it lust, be it envy, be it whatever mess you have made or mess you’ve been dragged into… only the entry of Jesus can turn your Titanic’s fortunes around.
So many people would bring home someone they don’t know for a one night stand, but they wouldn’t bring Jesus home with them, who would truly love them “It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go”
Sin is an iceberg, it doesn’t look significant above the water, but under the waterline, the bit you can’t see, it’s far bigger and more deadly than you thought… and it’s wages, it’s cost, it’s price, its consequences will send you to the bottom.
There is a hidden cost with sin, and there are no returns.
A lot of people cozied up to Judas Iscariot to convince him that betraying Jesus was the right thing to do, and they even dangled a pitiful financial incentive in front of him to do so… but he realized too late that it wasn’t quite what he thought it would be. Sin never is quite what you bargained on. And he went to return it, but realized that shop had closed, his ship had sailed… he hadn’t read the fine print… there are no returns.
With sin, you do not realize what you are purchasing. And you’ll want to let it go eventually, but it will stick to you. And after Satan has talked you into it, reassured and reasoned and rationalized to your heart about it, and after the lust of your flesh has consumed it… “be sure your sin will find you out”.
Sin has had a high cost in my life, and continues to do so. I’m sure you also. And you can blame everyone else for it, be deceived continuously about it, defend it and rebrand it to your dying day, or even do the good old blame God for it… but your sin lays fairly and squarely at your own feet.
We cannot deal with our sin. We cannot take it away. We try to manage it, we try to control it, we try to mould it and make it into what we want it to be. We try to manage it’s dose amount and side effects, but just one disobedience was enough to plunge humanity into the darkness that has ensued for six thousand years. It’s not less toxic today.
… until Jesus “grace and truth came by Jesus Christ”.
Enter Jesus! “the entrance of thy word giveth light”
It was when Jesus entered my heart and my life that the difference was made.
And it’s for you also. I don’t know how deep you will have to get, many people have to go very deep, in fact only in hell will they realize and want evangelism, and even just a drop of that sweet doctrine they so despised in their life.
…It doesn’t have to be that way, as he stands and knocks at the door of your heart… why not let him in. Make your home open to Jesus, let him kick out what doesn’t need to be in there, he sure will! There will be rejoicing. “Since Jesus came into my heart, praise the Lord! Since Jesus came into my heart, Hallelujah, floods of joy o’er my soul like the sea billows roll! … since Jesus came into my heart”.
Being a Christian is Jesus has entered into your heart and life, and he’s made his abode there. That’s what separates you from everyone and everything else. That’s what makes you peculiar. That’s what restores your soul. That’s what makes your life special, at peace, fulfilled, full of joy… worth living.
People will see, people will notice, it will be noised that he is in the house. They’ll know something different is going on in your house, something not of this world, something not from this world, something above this world.
Enter Jesus!
… but now a word of warning.
In the Bible a man called Potiphar bought a slave called Joseph. He liked the look of him at the slave market, he had a good spirit, a good attitude, and God was with him. Buying Joseph meant God was brought into this Egyptians house, and he made a difference! Joseph was just brilliant for him, and Potiphar quicky recognized his worth and thought everything of his safer to be in Joseph’s hands than his own.
He put Joseph over his whole household! he made him the greatest in his house, and Joseph’s presence brought righteousness, justice, peace, blessing, GOD to his home. It was going so well.
It’s a blessing to have Jesus in the house, you cannot let him increase enough, the more you let him over everything, it’ll flow into every part of your life “and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.”
… BUT!
… but Potiphar benefiting from the Hebrew still had his Egyptian identity. He was using Joseph, benefiting from the grace Joseph had. Our society today benefits from the Lord Jesus Christ and true Christians, but won’t get saved themselves. And they fail to recognize just where their blessings come from. We are only forgiven for Jesus’ sake remember that.
There are many people I know who appreciate many good things about Christianity, and they’re happy to benefit from it. But they never got saved and sold out to truth themselves.
And Potiphar had a big issue brewing, because though he was captain of the guard and leading out there… he did not guard his own home and lead in there. He did not know what his wife was up to as he busied himself with career and position in Pharaoh’s army. And he didn’t know the storm that was brewing over the issues that Joseph’s righteousness and light brought into a household that still very much had unrepentant sin in it.
There was stuff going on that he didn’t know about… there’s always stuff you don’t know going on… that’s why you should trust Jesus and God’s word… because that’s the only way sin won’t make a mockery of your life. Look at our world, and how realizations are always later and too late when you realized you believed a lie because you didn’t know the full truth, but if you followed God’s word you’d have been fine!
At home, Potiphar’s wife was a full on empowered feminist God hater… she was dissatisfied, discontent and disillusioned with her husband and the decisions her husband had made. She didn’t like the way the household was going, she still wanted sin in her life. And when she wanted Joseph to consent in sin with her, and he didn’t, she concocted a mean lie to get Joseph out the house. Wicked people always have and always will make up false reasons that hide their own wickedness as the reason to get Christ and Christians out.. like Nero setting fire to Rome and blaming the Christians. Hey, if you really want to see the problem, you just need to open your eyes and maybe use a mirror.
But here’s your reminder, if you want to bring Jesus home, when he enters, there will be a flashpoint… sin will have to go out. And God will never EVER go along with your sin. If you want to sin, he will not join you in it. And soon enough, you will be at a fork in the road the place “where two ways met”. You will have to choose sin or Jesus, you cannot have both. The Holy Spirit or the world. Truth or lies.
This is why people would love to have Jesus in their house, but when Jesus doesn’t coexist with sin… they’ll drop Jesus off like a hot potato.
Like Potiphar was when he came home, not knowing or wanting to know the full story, there is comfort people find in wilful ignorance… but yet he still was presented with a choice… him or me. Him or me. That’s what his wife gave him. And when his wife presented a bold faced lie, this same wife who made a mockery of him behind his back, who spoke bad about her own husband to other people, who cheated on him… he chose peace in the home through compromise, didn’t even allow Joseph to plead his case, didn’t even want to consider the truth… and kicked Joseph out.
What a bad decision. Joseph’s story would go on, he’d benefit other people and rise to eventual power and Jesus will as King of kings and Lord of lords… but Potiphar got found out… he only liked him until his wife’s sin got exposed, the depths of which he didn’t want to know about, even if it made him look like an ass leading the army while his wife is running around behind his back… he chose really bad in the end and we never hear of this man again.
This plays out the same in oh so many families today. If Jesus is going to enter, there is a clash that will happen also, and many people would like Jesus to enter, but then discover they don’t want him in there “buy the truth and sell it not”.
By God’s grace I haven’t and will not. I hope that is the same for you. It’s Jesus entry that makes our lives. Bring him in, bring him home, and when issues arise… choose Jesus, he’s who truly loves you, he’s who’s got your back, he’s who you can trust to do right. It would be oh so very poor to judge otherwise!

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
Great devotional, and very thought-provoking!! Roger Pridmore

Hello Joseph, I looked at your blog yesterday and it was encouraging to me, because I was trying to get saved after been decieved in legalism, and I readed your post about the crippled man of Bethesda that Jesus made walk again, that gave me some hope and I put my trust in the lord to save me. But today was a day in which I don’t know what to think anymore. And I know you said only the lord can saved or help those who are seeking for him. But I’ve been trying to summit myself to him but every time something happens it makes me feel like I’m not in the right path. I see the people around me that profess to be Christians (members of my church) with lives that bears no fruit like mine and I know that I ought to look at myself not at them but right now I see that more than difficult. The thing is I’ve been dealing with this issue for the last month’s and even thou I’m trouble by my sins right now I don’t feel any desire for Christ (I said I don’t feel desire because I’m sure that with my mind I want to be with him cause I know hell is bad and I don’t see anything good in the world), also I want to go to another church because I see the lives of my brethren that are not so much change, but also I notice that I have pride (a lot of pride) in me when I think about the decision and that scared me to take that choice out of pride (even now I write this with some of that wanting to be noticed by others). So what can I do?, I don’t want to give up seeking but I also know that I’m not reading or praying enough and also the church does not help me, I see my self far from him and not getting any nearer.(Sorry for my English Is not my native language

Hello Victor,
Thanks for the message. God says to call unto him, tell him all about it. One of Jesus’ names is “Counsellor” found in Isaiah 9, tell God about where you’re at, pour out your heart and soul to him. Read his word, and do some digging in the valley. We all go through the different seasons, and just like a tree, we don’t produce fruit all year round but “in his season” as Psalm 1 says. I’d encourage you to read your Bible and pray and humbly seek God, be open and honest before him and do what he tells you to do with good conscience toward him in accordance with his word. He will make the change in your life. The Bible says that “as they went” the lepers were cleansed in Luke 17, but some action on the faith he has given you, even if it seems pathetic, and he can and will do a lot with your life 🙂
