How Many Days Is It For You?
Jeremiah 2:32 “Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.”
How many days is it?
How many days is it for you that you have forgotten God for?
Is it days, weeks, months, years… lifetime?
No, this verse isn’t for somebody else, it’s for you and for me.
Jeremiah wasn’t speaking to the heathen out there somewhere, he was preaching in Jerusalem even in the gate of the temple… he was preaching to God’s people that went by God’s name…. yet God’s people which had forgotten God “days without number”.
That’s why our nation and churches and Christian usefulness and profitability to society is a mess.
How long since you truly searched the scriptures to know God more, how long since you hungered and thirsted after righteousness, how long since you last had spiritual revival, how long since you obeyed God in your life and knew his sweet blessing on your soul?
The start of Jeremiah provides a Genesis, a genealogy and a chronology of God’s nation that had forgotten God… and how detrimental and destructive that had proven to be.
Israel had originally been founded by God totally through God’s power, blessing and authority… their purpose and identity and usefulness and profitability and fulfillment was all in God… they were blessed to be a blessing and meant to be a light to the surrounding nations… and yet they had forgotten God.
… and become vain and empty and in spiritual darkness.
If you have anything or everything in life, but don’t have God… you have less than nothing.
And no, they never would have and didn’t say they had forgotten him… just they had. They were deluded and deceived about themselves and Jeremiah was sent to wake them up with God’s word.
Oh don’t worry, they still spoke super religiously and did the religious duty… but they were completely departed from God in reality of life.
…I hope you haven’t forgotten God! I hope functionally, practically and truthfully he isnt totally out your life! Because he’s relevant, even if you’ve made him irrelevant.
Because God isn’t an accessory to life, he is the reason and purpose for life.
As much as a bride needs her attire, kinda feels incomplete without the dress and hair and make-up doesn’t it… in the same way Israel needed God, its just not right and doesnt work without him… and Jeremiah was a prophet sent by God to ask them why? … what was wrong with God that they’d forgotten him?
We all need to look at our own lives truthfully in light of scripture… as Jeremiah said “O Lord, are not thine eyes upon the truth?” God already knows the truth about you even if you have others and even yourself fooled.
And so how many days is it? Gods people back here had forgotten God “days without number”, but as Jeremiah preached to them, you can start a new calendar and a new day, maybe today even if you truly want… because the Bible says “To day if ye will hear his voice” and “behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side. As I read, I prayed: May God never tire of calling us back to Himself.
