Three Worlds – One Past, One Present, One Future… Forever!
Hebrews 11:3 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
Notice that the Bible says “worlds” not “world” in this verse.
That’s because the Bible teaches that there are three worlds…
Past tense, 2 Peter 2:5 speaks of the “old world” that was destroyed in Noah’s flood.
Present tense, Galatians 1:4 speaks of “this present evil world” which according to 1 John 5:19 “lieth in wickedness”.
Future tense, in Matthew 12:32, Jesus Christ himself spoke of “the world to come”.
Have you ever heard or used the saying “it’s not the end of the world?”
We tend to reserve that saying for situations where something bad has happened and we are trying to add perspective in making someone feel better by saying “it’s not the end of the world”.
Because the end of the world is the worst possible event in the minds of most people. And thus we tend to, jokingly or not, reference bad things happening in every day life against the benchmark of “the end of the world”.
Many people would like this world to go forever. Current issues of “climate change” and “sustainability” revolve entirely around the concept of preventing “the end of the world”.
And many people, particularly in countries like ours, have “the good life” at the moment… solid job, money, health, youth, drinks on the weekend, mates, footy, holidays, girls etc and we would like to maximize the fun as long as possible.
But the thing is, all that is not going to last forever, not for you personally nor for the world. Because the Bible teaches that this world has an expiry date and we are closer to it now than ever before.
To prove the world can and will end, the Bible has recorded an “end of the world” that has already happened before. Because before this world was the “old world”, which was quite a different world to the one we live in. People lived much longer, life was very different.
When Jesus Christ spoke about the coming end of the world, he referenced a guy called Noah in the Bible. Because Noah was a man who, with his family, lived through the end of the old world and stepped out the ark into the new world. And as such, his life serves as a template for the coming end of this world.
The world of Noah’s day ended in a global flood, the evidence of which abounds to this day. This world will end in fire. But if you follow Noah’s example, you will be more than fine.
Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
How to survive the coming end of the world? Do what Noah did. Believe God’s word. Act upon the warning of God’s word. And make preparations for the future by trusting in Jesus Christ to save you from your sins today.
If people invest in this world which is going to end, why would they not invest in the world to come which is forever? But like the world of Noah’s day, we are just too busy living our selfish little lives to see the bigger picture.
Nevertheless, we are all without excuse. And sure, maybe you say “well Christians have been saying the world is going to end for thousands of years”… yeah, because it’s necessary for everyone to have been warned good and proper. Because one day, like in Noah’s day, it will be “the end of the world”… then where will you be?

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
