If You Think You Were Born Gay, Read This!
Psalm 51:5 “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”
A lot of people justifying being gay or any other sin for that matter by saying “I was born that way”.
And furthermore they also say “if it’s wrong, why did God create me that way?”
And the Bible answers this, if you’re interested. Are you interested? If you are looking for answers in life, the Bible has them for you. Maybe you’re happy in your sin, fair enough then, but what is your sin really doing for you other than systematically destroying your life?
Here’s the answer, from the Bible.
We all have a sinful nature because we are all born in sin, that’s a fact. It’s doubtful anyone would dispute they are a sinner if they are honest with themselves and others. You don’t have to teach anyone to sin, because it’s in us all to sin. Kids are selfish from the youngest age.
And we all lie, cheat, steal, and so on, and that’s not the half of it, because if we were really honest about our motivations, intentions, thoughts, desires and secret lives, it would all be even uglier.
What is sin? Well we know it’s “doing wrong” and “nobody is perfect”. But the Bible defines sin as the transgression of God’s law (1 John 3:4). Sin is against God first and foremost, all sin traces from a problem between us and God. And sin is always an undesirable action and trait, because God is good, and thus all sin can only ever be bad. There is no good sin, there is no redeeming quality in sin.
To understand sin, and why we are all sinners, you have to go back to the book of Genesis to the origin of man. Understanding where we come from is crucial to understanding why things are like they are.
In Genesis, God created a man called Adam in his own image. Adam was the first man. This first man was the crown of God’s creation, a creature separate from all other animals because he bore God’s own image. Humans are not just another animal, they are distinct from all other animals.
We all come from this first man, Adam. And even evolutionists know that we are all related and have common ancestry. And in fact, if we don’t that means that not all humans are equal in humanity, and that’s where racism through evolution comes from.
So God created Adam, and Adam was in sinless perfection in the graden of Eden with his wife Eve, who God made from Adam. Hence why women are called wo-man.
And so everything was perfect originally. Man walked with God in the garden of Eden. But then one day, Adam sinned. Adam disobeyed God. And that sin had a lot of consequences, such as that it brought separation from God, evil and death into this world.
The fact we come from sinful Adam is key to understanding why we are born in sin. Because like you take after your sinful father, well he took after his, and so on right back to Adam for us all. We all are born in the image of Adam, not in the image of God. Adam was a sinner, and he passed his sin on to us.
So when you say “I was born that way” to justify whatever sin you’re doing, that may be true in the sense that you are born with sinful desires, but it’s not true in the sense that your sinful desires are acceptable. But yes, we are all born with sinful desires and inclinations. Maybe yours is to the same sex.
… BUT that does not make it right! Say I am born with the inclination to lie, that does not make me lying ok. Say I am born with the inclination to be envious and lustful, that doesn’t make those things ok.
So how you were born to behave does not legitimize how you behave. What if someone is born with a predisposition to anger and murder? That does not make it right. No matter how you were born, there is an objective set of rights and wrongs that we are all subject to. And these are from God, God’s law, which is for our good.
And the fact is, being gay is a choice. You can choose to or not to fan, follow and fulfill those sinful desires. In our society, sin is very much being promoted and encouraged, and a generation of sexual deviants are being made through their minds being saturated with perversion very early on in their lives. Like for instance, there is a strong link between pornography and homosexuality, rape and so on.
Sin is very destructive. It will destroy your own life. Sin always brings death. The mere fact we all die physically is proof of the curse of sin. Remember, Adam’s disobedience introduced death, it was not how God created it to be. God has so much better for you if you can just see beyond the lust that has consumed your life.
What is important to realize is that it is not God who created you that way. He did not make you gay. The reason why we are the way we are is because of the sin of man, not the creation of God. Remember, we are a long way from what we were created to be. Sin has taken man a long way from his creative purpose. And that’s why man in sin is never fulfilled, because it’s not our creative design.
So what to do with this knowledge? Well, you cannot overcome your sin nature by yourself. People try reforming themselves through religious reformation or disciplining themselves, many people try to be the best version of themselves, but that can never change your sinful nature. And telling gay people not to be gay is not good enough, because it doesn’t change their desires. If you really want to be with same sex, telling them it’s wrong isn’t really a solution to the problem, rather just a revelation that a problem exists.
Because an is in a really futile position to solve his sin problem. I can’t save myself from my sin. So I cannot expect that you can save yourself from your sin problem. Man cannot save himself from sin, so stop trying. The answer is not within. And that’s why Christianity is failing in this world, because it is not offering people a solution to their sin, rather it is pandering to people in sin.
And yes, many people actually just like their sin, and instead of seeking salvation from it, they instead demand you accept it or try redefining it as being ok and acceptable. And the fact is, when you pursue a life of sin, guess what, God is going to let you do it. And being gay isn’t proof that God made you that way and is okay with it, no, it is proof that God has given you up to your sin that you are determined to do.
But now the solution. Because there is a solution to sin like being gay if you want it. It’s the only solution in the world. You can look high and low, in every religion, but you’ll never find the solution apart from the person of Jesus Christ. And that’s why Christians, people that follow Jesus Christ, are meant to tell people about Jesus Christ, and that he came to save his people from their sins as his name means.
And Jesus can and does. Jesus can save you from your sins not just theoretically, but practically. Jesus has paid for your sins. He can forgive you your sins. And he can deliver you from your sins in your life. How? Glad you asked.
Jesus Christ taught in John 3 that “ye must be born again”. Here’s the answer! New birth! The solution to being gay isn’t trying not to be gay, it’s being born again. Because the only thing that can truly fix your sin problem is spiritual rebirth. Not religious reformation, not trying to do better, but instead a new creature completely, not under the bondage of sin, but born free from sin. Sounds good doesn’t it! Guess what, God can and will do it, because he is the Creator, and he wasn’t done creating back in Genesis. When you get saved, God sets you free from sin’s dominion through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and creates a new person in you, free from sin.
You can rise out of that life of sin in Christ, through Christ, by Christ. So no matter how you are born the first time, with whatever inclinations to wickedness that you had, Jesus Christ said ye must be born again, and if you are, that second birth is born free from sin. You know, salvation is a heavenly birth. You become a citizen of heaven, even while living in this sin cursed world. And you can leave that life of homosexuality or bondage to any other sin behind if you choose. So according to the Bible, Jesus Christ is set forth before you today, you can either repent of your sin, acknowledging that it’s wrong what you’ve been doing and trusting in Jesus to save you from your sin… or you can die in your sins, lost forever. It’s up to you.
Were you born gay? Well we are all born in sin, and so we are all born with a sinful desire and sinful nature. But just because we are born with different inclinations to sin against God does not make our sin ok. And no, God didn’t create you that way, you take after father Adam who sinned, not after God the Father. And God has the solution to sin, and it’s new birth, a new creature born in Christ Jesus when you believe on him for salvation. And that new birth truly is “God created me to be that way”, because that new person loves God, truth and righteousness… truly taking after God’s image, and Christlike in behaviour and action, like Jesus was. I do hope you believe in Jesus Christ to save you from your sins. Your life can bear a fallen, sinful, earthly image… or you can bear the heavenly image. Do you want heaven on earth, being right with God, full of love, mercy, grace and truth, while you live? Trust in Jesus Christ. He can and will do it, he has power to deliver you from whatever sin you are in.
