The Best Thing You Can Do To Hurt Satan

2 Corinthians 7:11 – For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Hello readers, the best thing you can do to hurt Satan. Did you know you can hurt Satan? Did you know you can tread Satan under your feet with your life? Do you want to hurt Satan? You should. Read this verse… Romans 16:20 “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” What a verse that is. That sounds like Satan being hurt doesn’t it. You can put him under your feet.

Satan’s defeat was sealed when Jesus Christ arose from the dead, yet he is still around. He’s not been thrown in the lake of fire yet as one day he will be. But for now, he goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Satan wants you. He wants your life. And maybe he got a good chunk of it. Maybe he’s got you right now. And maybe there’s barely anything left. Maybe you’re like that shepherd in Amos, pulling out two legs or a piece of an ear. There’s not much left when Satan’s done with you.

You can’t hurt Satan if Satan is already in power over you. That’s his ultimate goal, to rule your life. To control you and sit on the seat of your heart. He wants your worship. He wants to eliminate God from every trace of your life and take over. That’s the whole mystery of iniquity in a nutshell. Oppose God, remove God, and then he can rule and reign. Why would you let him? There is no truth in him, he’s a murderer, a liar, he is that wicked one.

It’s time to get him back. If you’ve been saved, you should feel that way. Maybe you see all the garbage going on in this world, Satan seems to be winning everywhere. Do you want to get him back? You should. I’ve quoted a verse at the start from 2 Corinthians and I want to zero in on the word “revenge”. Did you know there is a godly revenge? Did you know without this revenge you have not approved your repentance? It’s easy to say you’re a Christian and saved and blah blah, but without repentance there is no salvation. Repentance produces unmistakable fruit.

Often we have some pretty odd looking grapes for people claiming to saved. We claim to be in Christ, yet our fruit doesn’t look like fruit of the Holy Spirit. Maybe there’s some odd looking fruit coming from your vine. Maybe you need to check you’re in the right vine. Odd looking fruit comes from an odd looking vine. Maybe instead of the vine of Christ, they’re the bitter poisonous grapes of Sodom. If your life is bearing some putrid fruit, which everyone else can see maybe except for you because we are all usually so deluded about ourselves, it may just be a hint you’re not in the true vine, the vine of Christ.

But revenge is the final evidence of Biblical repentance. What an evidence it is. An evidence missing from many lives, including mine. You can read all the evidences of repentance, the proof of repentance, because Paul spelled them out because that church at Corinth needed to know. They had some vile sin going on in their church. They in fact had to deliver some guy to Satan because of the sexual filth he was engaging in all while claiming to be saved. And the Corinthian church had gotten puffed up, they were like modern churches today, oh we are just going to show him love and win him that way. But Paul said, get that guy out before he corrupts and leavens the whole church.

Repentance isn’t just saying sorry, it’s proven in your life. It produces unmistakable fruit. One of the proofs is revenge, you want to go from fighting against Jesus Christ with your life to revenging the devil. Why are so many Christians like David during one of the bad times in his life, where he’d been on the run and betrayed by his own, and had become so disillusioned that he was lining up for the Philistines on the battlefield against his own people. And this was David! A man after God’s own heart. Don’t let circumstances, even a Saul that’s after you turn you on God and God’s people. God didn’t let David turn his sword on his own people that he would rule, and that was God’s grace and mercy. But there is a crucial lesson in David’s time in Gath. Often someone gets wronged, and they never get past it, they never get past their Saul. And David told Achish, hey I’ll fight with you.

It’s a bad time in David’s life, it’s a bad time when you have more in common with the world than with Christians. It’s a bad time when you feel safer in the world than amongst Christians. And that is also a reflection on the Christians of today. If you are saved, make sure Satan hasn’t go you so cornered in life that you turn on the people that you should be fighting with and for. Keep the right enemy and the right cause and the truth of God’s word in your crosshairs. Don’t let someone else ruin your salvation and walk with God. I guess in this story is also another truth, how Satan can use someone like Saul to put Christians at odds with each other. Don’t be ignorant of his devices, don’t let him get advantage, don’t let him get his foot in the door and get between you and the word of God and the people of God.

The worst opponents I’ve found to truth are professing Christians. How about stop fighting someone actually obeying God and get on the battlefield and join in the good fight of faith, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. How about war a good warfare, how about swinging your sword at the enemy, and putting up that shield of faith when Satan throws some fiery darts at you. And how about instead of running from Satan, you actually get some revenge on that old serpent who’s been using you to harm the cause of Christ. You want to revenge that devil that has laid waste to your witness and testimony and purpose and happiness and purity and joy and potential and life.

So when we are talking about hurting Satan, it’s a Biblical hurt. You can revenge yourself on Satan. How about live for Christ with that same zeal you lived for Satan? How about you get back at Satan who lied to you and ruined your life and murdered everything you could’ve and should’ve and would’ve been. How about you get him back for deceiving you? That’s a good cause. And get revenge you will if you’re really saved. How do you hurt Satan? How do you tread him under foot?  What about this verse? Think about it.  This is the Lord Jesus Christ talking. Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” If you’re looking to tread down that old serpent, the Bible will show you how.

Because that’s how you get your revenge on him. You tread him down. How do you tread something down? By walking on top of it. Treading something down shows your authority over it. Satan is bruised under your feet. See, when you get walking forward with Jesus Christ, forgetting those things that are behind, and pressing towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, you’re going to be putting him squarely under your feet, and grinding him into the ground just a bit. Taking those steps of faith are steps on top of Satan. There’s not much room for air for him under your feet. Joshua put his foot on the neck of those kings, and you can put your foot on the neck of that dragon, and you can pull out the sword of the word of God and you can stick it in him and just remind him he’s a vanquished foe.

Note, he’s bruised under your feet. He can’t be bruised under your feet if you’re not going anywhere, particularly not walking with God by faith. You can’t bruise him if you’re not going anywhere, if you’ve stopped and put your feet up to have a break. You can’t put him under your feet if you’re flat on your back because you’ve put away faith, because you’ve staggered at the promises of God, because you’ve rebelled against the word of God. You know how Satan is going to beat you? You being inactive. You doing nothing. No steps of faith. No Christian walk. No being led by the Holy Spirit as your feet like hinds feet follow your Lord and Saviour. And yes, you can be saved, and sit around and do nothing. You never share the gospel, you never sow and seed and you never do any damage to Satan’s kingdom. How long sit we here till we die?

How long until you start walking, until you start going forward rather than backpedaling? When Jesus said the gates of hell would not prevail against the church, it’s because the church is meant to be on the offense, not beating a retreat, not cowering down, not being afraid of the fight. A little boy named David didn’t retreat and instead he ran at Goliath, and the last thing Goliath knew was David’s foot on his neck and that sword swinging through the air to take his head clean off.

You can and should bruise Satan under your feet. What kind of feet? Beautiful feet. Romans 10:15 – “And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” They’re beautiful feet, the feet that are in step with God. They’re beautiful feet, the feet of someone who’s walk is the walk of faith. They’re beautiful feet, the feet of those who preach the gospel, who tell people about Jesus Christ, and declare his death, burial and resurrection. Compare that to those old feet that were disease, and lame, and swift to shed blood and which run to evil. What kind of feet you got? Only one kind of feet are feet that can tread down serpents and scorpions.

You can literally see Satan being bruised when you tell someone the gospel. When you take those steps of faith, when you get moving forward in life rather than waiting around, cowering down, retreating and putting your feet up. Watch them flinch. Watch them go crazy. Watch that look on the face as that sword pierces right to the heart. Luke 2:35 – “(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” That’s Simeon speaking to Mary after he had taken the child Jesus up in his arms and blessed God, because he’d been waiting his whole life to see his Saviour. When you bring God’s word out, that sword pierces right to the heart. That’s why people hate God’s word and the gospel is so deadly to Satan, because it’s like a hot knife through butter. See, you’re going to hurt Satan not with intellect, philosophy, opinion, rationalizing, and you might have many good causes, but the thing that really hurts Satan is the gospel. Because it’s a spiritual battle that we are in at the end of the day. Feet carrying the gospel is what does unimaginable and mortal damage to Satan.

Recognize that the real battle in this world is spiritual. You’re wrestling not against flesh and blood, but again principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We can get lost in all the issues and causes and drama and everything, and we miss that the battle we are fighting is spiritual. We end up fighting without our sword. We take up battles we can’t win. Hey, even Michael the archangel didn’t rely on his own strength and power. He said the Lord rebuke thee. Get the “Lord Jesus Christ” into the battle and that battle will turn in a heartbeat. Satan is the god of this world, he’s a mighty foe, and we can’t beat him ourselves, but when we bring the Lord Jesus Christ into it,  Satan knows that name. The name that is above every name. The devils knew him. They feared him. They obeyed him.

So instead of sitting around letting him run over your life, and not using the armory and weaponry and ability and instructions that God has left you for victory, maybe finally consider getting moving forward in life. Build a life based on the Lord Jesus Christ, and take that message of the gospel, take the epistle of your life to this world. Get the salt and the light in. Imagine that, treading down serpents and scorpions. There’s plenty out there in this wicked world. There’s plenty of evil. There’s plenty of lies. There’s plenty of deception. There’s plenty of greed and manipulation and filth. All this world has is serpents and scorpions, with all their venom, injecting their poison into the life blood of Christians and people of this world. But today, see that you can get revenge. You can strike back. You can bruise Satan under you feet, under the feet of those that go to carry the message of the gospel to this lost, dying, blind, sin cursed world.

Jesus sent his disciples out with the message of the gospel, and they came back to him rejoicing and saying “Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.” And Jesus said, rejoice that your names are written in heaven. That’s even more important. The fact your name is written in heaven is what gives you the strength and assurance and hope to get into that revenging fight. You don’t even belong in this world. It’s not your home, it’s not your investment, it’s not your future. Don’t get downcast. This world is evil but Jesus will sort it out. He’s coming back, and his saints will come with him, and he will destroy the wicked once and for all. Rejoice that your name is written in heaven and that is something Satan cannot touch. Salvation, citizenship in heaven. You don’t belong to him, you’re on the winning side.

So we are in a battle and we have to recognize that. We have to identify the true enemy and the true cause in life. Today’s Christianity doesn’t like warfare terminology. They don’t know what being a good soldier of Jesus Christ is all about. They want to love everyone and get along. But we are in a war, a war that is going to reach heaven in Revelation. Good versus evil, light versus darkness. And what’s at stake is the souls of men. And all these issues going on in our world and society, all those problems and injustices and causes, we need to recognize Satan is behind it. The solution is Jesus Christ. Satan’s a real enemy and there’s a real fight. You’ll do more damage by bringing  Jesus Christ into public discourse and issues of life than anything else you can do.

Carnal weapons can’t win a spiritual war. You telling people about Jesus Christ crushes Satan. Satan is immediately under your feet. Souls being saved is the worst thing you can do to him. Don’t waste time trying to overhaul this world, you’re not going to. Not even Jesus bothered overhauling this world, he said his kingdom was not of this world. You can try to better something that is broken that isn’t going to be fixed until Jesus’ second coming, or you can put your energy into the fight that matters and do some real damage as opposed to beating the air your whole life.

David wrote this in Psalm 73:2 – “But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.” Have your feet slipped? When you’re flat on your back, it’s kinda hard to bruise Satan under your feet. You need your feet set upon a rock, and your goings established by God. Ask God to direct your paths. What a verse this is in Psalm 119:105 – “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Take your steps forward in the light of his word, and they’re good steps, they’re steps which will bruise Satan. I haven’t really done any justice to this topic, as you can just search “feet” in your King James Bible and you’ll find out God has a lot to say about your feet. You can bruise Satan under your feet if they’re feet that are walking in step with God.

In the temptation, Satan left out the very next verse of that little bit of Bible he tried using on Christ. Guess what it says? You won’t believe it. Psalm 91:13 – “Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.” This is a divine book. Why did Satan leave that bit off? Because that’s the bit about where Jesus Christ and all those who are saved trample him under foot. You can have Satan under your feet, you can bruise him, you can get revenge on him for who he is and what he is and what’s he’s done to you and doing in this world. Jesus Christ destroyed the works of the devil. The best thing you can do to hurt Satan is get moving in your life, stop waiting around, stop doing nothing, stop letting him beat you up. How about get revenge? Revenge what he’s done to you and doing to others, revenge him for all the iniquity he’s working in this world and all his lies he’s spreading. And never forget this fact, feet carrying the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ are what does unimaginable and mortal damage to Satan and his kingdom.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
