Of A Child
Mark 9:21 – And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
Hello readers, today I want to talk from Mark 9, this is where Jesus Christ healed a young boy who was possessed with an evil spirit. This evil spirit was ruining the young boys life and causing his father great concern and grief in the process. You know, the problems that are in this world start at the spiritual level, the spirit world is real. We need spiritual healing first and foremost, that is our biggest problem and that is where all the problems start. If you were clean and pure and had the Holy Spirit in you, you wouldn’t have half the problems you have with sin and disobedience and rebellion, nor be under the power of Satan in your life like this boy was.
Satan can get children from a very young age. Children are born, and as they grow up, that innocence and purity and simple joy and happiness surely gives way to darkness, to disobedience, to rebellion, to sin. And they come under the power of Satan, this god of this world.
How many problems that we take into adulthood all started from a young age. Something we saw, something we lied about, something we did, and it set on course a life as pained, hopeless, and helpless as this boy’s was.
I’ve been thinking about my own life, and I can trace things back to my childhood, things that happened to me or things I did or didn’t do… and that’s where it all went wrong. It’s not about blaming others, this son had a father that loved him so much in this story, and yet here he is with a son that is on a downward spiral.
The thing is, from a child we are sinners. We were conceived in sin, we are born in sin, because we all come from Adam, who sinned. We are living in a world where children are being stolen very quickly by Satan. Satan owns them from a young age. Satan wanted to own a young boy called Daniel, but this was a child who knew God’s word and purposed in his heart to obey it and he didn’t go under like so many of the other Hebrew boys did.
We are at the time of year where we remember another child that was born. Isaiah 9:6 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
This is a wonderful prophecy of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. You see, while we all were born and grew up and lived lives just jam packed full of sin and rebellion… this was a child born who did no sin, and who was born to and had the capacity and ability and power to deliver us all. This was a boy who’s father was God. He was God in the flesh, God’s gift to mankind, to save mankind from being consumed by Satan as this young boy was being.
This child was born, and this child never sinned, he always did that which was right, he was Holy and pure and Just and true, he was a child born that would deliver all who believed on his name… and that includes us today. He was back then, but before his death he prayed for us today. He lives to make intercession for us right now. A boy who grew up, who had no beginning of days, but who’s human birth was one night thousands of years ago. A boy who grew up and for all eternity will show us his eternal love and grace toward us his creatures. From a child we are all sinners, nobody had to teach us to lie, and to steal, and to get jealous and envious and be nasty and hurtful to others. That all came naturally to us… because that’s in us. Like this boy that Jesus healed, we need healing.
This boy’s life had been taken over by Satan from a young age. Did Satan get you from a young age? He made rapid advancements in your life, and you’ve let him stay there, you’ve left the breaches he’s made in your life unchecked. That child born in a manger that night in Bethlehem, that child was born to heal that breach in your life.
Life is not a game people, Satan is serious about taking people to hell with him. There is a real enemy, a real adversary, a real thief, a real liar, a real murderer out there, and you can’t beat him in your own strength. That boy born in the manger would grow up into a man who would be the only one in existence to ever overcome the tempter.
From a young age, things can go so very wrong. Where did it go wrong for you? Maybe it’s time to stop blaming, stop justifying, stop pretending it’s all ok… maybe it’s time for you to meet the Lord Jesus Christ. He can deal with your sin problem. He can make you righteous and holy and pure and worthy… because he is able to. He has the power to forgive you, and to cleanse and wash you… inside out.
We can have long time problems, and those problems started early, we’ve never known life without them. Of a child we’ve had them. Have you got a sin problem? Have you got a spiritual problem? You need Jesus Christ. These foul evil spirits in this world will take you down, but Jesus Christ will lift you up.
We all have problems that started from childhood, problems that can run through our whole life. Maybe it looks so impossible. The impossibility of it to us causes so much unbelief. We are all born into this world of impossibility, of futility, bound by laws of sin and death… but we need to look to the one who was born as a child who grew into the man who went to the cross to pay for our sins and who rose from the dead in eternal triumph over all the impossibilities that bind us up. This boy’s father cried out, I believe, help thou mine unbelief. The problem is we truly don’t believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Even when we believe, we still have unbelief! Yes our problems can seem impossible to us, but with God all things are possible. The answer doesn’t lie in yourself, it lies in God, trust in God Jesus said.
You know, this world, the spirits in this world, a life of sin and flesh… it’s going to take you down. It’s ruining you. You think you’ll be ok, you thought you were ok… but it’s working death in your life. You’re being ruined by sin, ruined by your flesh, ruined by the devil. When are you going to seek out Jesus Christ? They went to Jesus’ disciples, but they couldn’t fix the boy. It was when they went to Jesus Christ that healing came. Go to Jesus Christ, he is real, he is alive forevermore, he’s not dead… he rose from the dead… he is the same God he was when he created the heaven and the earth. Pray to him, seek his face today.
So yes… we all have problems, we have the sin problem, there are things in our life which need fixing, healing, deliverance… through Jesus Christ. Maybe they got you from a young age, do you want to be healed? Satan is after children, look at this world system, he’s taking them as I write… he’s taking them in the public education system, he’s taking them in the day care centers, he’s taking them with the TV and the video games. Parents are still throwing their children into the Nile river today. Your children are your responsibility to train and teach of God… they don’t belong to the government, and they don’t belong to Satan, why keep giving them to him? Of course there are things you can’t do for your child, like you can’t get saved them, but you sure can take them to Jesus Christ as this boy’s father did. Take them to Jesus Christ. We need to stop playing around in the muddy pools of religion and recognize there is a very real enemy out there, the enemy of our soul and our children’s souls.
Satan may have got into your life as a child, but there was a boy born one day, who’s father was God himself, a boy who the Bible says in Luke 2:40 – And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. This was a child who never sinned, this was a child who was about his Father’s business from a young age. This was our Saviour. He can fix all our problems, even those deeply entrenched and long term issues and problems we have in our spirit and soul. Believe on him today and he will save you from your sins.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
