Genesis 11:9 – Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Hello readers, new blog today. And in this blog we will be talking about the origin of all religions of this world. You see, God’s word simplifies it all for us. The Bible says in Proverbs of the strange woman that her ways are moveable that thou canst not know them. Religion is like that. Throughout history and even today in the world there are so many religions, beliefs, cults, sects, denominations… it is like a labyrinth. It seemingly makes the truth and God impossible to find. One of the most common topics of conversation is always like, well all religions and cultures believe they have the right belief and right God… so which one is it? Satan has done a very good job with religion. There are so many religions, so many belief systems… so how can the mystery be unravelled? They can’t all be right can they? That’s right, they can’t… and in fact are not. Back at the tower of Babel they all had one religion, and today a movement known as the ecumenical movement is trying to combine all the religions of the world saying we all serve the same God and so on. Ultimately all religions of the world are one… but there is one belief, one person, who just like at babel when he confounded their languages… there is one person who is a thorn in the side of false religion… and that person is the Lord Jesus Christ. He stands apart alone. There is the putrid mass which is all false religion, and then there is Jesus Christ.

There are key differences between what the Bible teaches compared to all other religions of the world. No other religion of the world has a risen Saviour that is not dead. Mohammad is dead and buried. Buddha’s dead and buried. All the religions of the world have prophets, teachers, and heroes that are dead and buried. But you go to Israel and you will find an empty tomb. You see, only the true God can rise from the dead. This alone proves who is the true God. The resurrection of the dead distinguishes the truth from false religion. Truth from error. 1 John 4:6 – We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. You see, everything that is of God and founded in the Bible is truth, and anything else is error. Although you have so many religions out there, it is as simple as Jesus Christ versus the rest of them. Ultimately “them” are all the same, they have the same origins at the tower of Babel.

Jesus Christ stands apart because he has power, power to take his life again, which he did… and power to execute judgement.  No other religion has a God that has judged his creation with the promise that he will again. Noah’s flood, and a reason why it is so attacked, is proof of God. The proof is everywhere, the billions of fossils all around the world globally, the rock layers… even all the legends and myths contained in religions detail a flood event. Only the true God has the power to hold us accountable and execute judgement. You can go and see the site of Sodom and Gomorrah today, it is still uninhabitable. No other religion has the prophetic power and accuracy that the Bible has, much less the 100% strike rate of the myriad of prophecies in scripture. Only God can know the future and tell the future. The Bible is scientifically accurate, you and I are proof of that, you and I came from human parents and they came from theirs and that’s all we’ve ever seen. The true God is the law giver, and we rely on the laws of God with every breath. Furthermore, the Bible which when believed is the only book that can change your heart, change you inside. We could go on, and in depth…

But today we want to go back to Babel. Because that’s where all religions of the world come from. It’s how we can simplify everything, by understanding where religion comes from. In Genesis 11 we see a people who were trying to build a tower to reach heaven and assaying to make themselves a name. Babel consisted of an political/economic system, and it also had it’s religious system. The old world had been destroyed in the flood, and Babel is what underpins the world we know today. Understanding where we come from, understanding origins, is so vitally important in understanding where we are heading, to get a reference point from the past. Then in Revelation, after thousands of years have gone by since the people were scattered at Babel, all false religion… the whole apostate mass is exposed for what it is and judged by God. Finally… religion gets what is coming to it!

All the world’s religions have the same source… while they have all evolved over time, with different names, different faces as they spread out from Babel and took their religion with them, and they grew apart… but they all bear the unmistakable same origin. They all have that same master whom it issued forth from. We read in Genesis of Nimrod, the mighty hunter before the Lord. What’d he hunt? Religion is a hunter, hunting your soul. In Revelation, in her was found the souls of men. How many get sucked into it’s vortex and taken under it’s spell, just like Proverbs which says none that go to her return again. How many kids get raised in church and end up atheists and Christ haters because they got religion not the Lord Jesus, they got churchianity not saved. Religion has blood on it’s hands… it says that in Revelation 18.

All the religions come from the same starting point, and they bear the same unmistakable marks even today. They are all based on performance, on works, just as they tried to build their tower and make a name. They appeal to the imagination of man, just like they imagined the tower of Babel. False religion is always “me” centric, people want to contribute just like they all built the tower. It makes them feel important. All the religions are substitutes for the truth, just as they substituted mortar with slime and bricks for stone. Bricks are basically artificial stone, but they aren’t stone, neither do they last as long. Bricks take work to make, but stones are just already there. This tower was a work of man, and it was doomed to failure, as all human works, even if the whole world works together!!! will fail without the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s contrary to the mantra of the world today of strength in unity. Without Jesus Christ you can gather everyone together, you can have one voice, one speech… and get nowhere. All religions of the world are man built, man made, and they cannot deliver what they assay to do, just like they could not finish what they built. They are all rejected by God, just as God rejected the builders of Babel.

So why is Babel so important? Because it is the starting point to all the religions we see today. They come from the same place, the same source, ultimately from the same man, and the same god… Satan, who is the god of this world. The people spread out from Babel after God confounded their languages, and they took their religion with them. It is why all other religions of the world, although they may not necessarily get along, they all are able to unite in coming against the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said he IS the way… that is a stumbling block to many, the exclusivity of Jesus being not “a” way, but THE way. Remember Pilate and Herod? They didn’t get along… but they did in the matter of Jesus Christ, and in fact they became friends over the crucifixion of the innocent, sinless Lamb of God. It started at Babel… and it’s fitting that once again Babylon shows up even though in the world today there is no “Babylon”.

This world has undergone technological advances and things like globalization have helped to bridge the separation that God put in place at Babel. One voice, one language, one speech. Together. Isn’t that the catch cry of humanity today? The call to get along? Why does the Pope say we all worship the same God? Because there is a uniting of a religion that has many different streams but one source. Ultimately it is a spiritual issue, as it is the spirit of this world that is guiding them all. But they do not worship the true God. They are against God, just as the builders of Babel were in total violation of God’s word. The world is uniting, they are finding their one voice against God. Religions all unite in opposition to Jesus Christ, who is the way to God, the sole way, the one Mediator, God. The truths of the Bible insult every religion, and scatter them, just like they were scattered and confounded at Babel. Babel does mean “the gate of God”, because all religions are trying to get to God and heaven… which is ironic as although religions will claim to get you there, they in fact drive you a million miles from truth.

Babel religion is man imagined, and so often we are guilty of creating a God in our minds, one that is not framed by his own word, but by us. We take our hammer and chisel and carve out the utopia and the God that suits us. Why does the Bible say to cast down imaginations? Because they exalt themselves against God, just as these guys with their big imaginations were exalting themselves against God. All false religion is about self glory, the glory of man. It is us building ourselves a name. It is us building. We get our bricks and our slime and start building our tower up to heaven. We cannot reach God, you need him to reach to you, just as Jesus reached out to Peter when he was sinking into the water. Later in Genesis, a man called Jacob would see a ladder from heaven to earth, which was a picture of Jesus Christ, because we can’t get up to heaven ourselves. God stood above the ladder. You ain’t getting to heaven but by coming to God by God’s way. What is the way? Jesus said… I AM the way. False religion cannot deliver what it promises. There was so much promise at Babel, there was a big work going on, and they were getting somewhere. But it was cursed, not blessed by God. And it ended in confusion, not enlightenment. False religion carries all the enticement and seduction of this woman riding the beast in Revelation. If it wasn’t attractive you wouldn’t get sucked in, but you do because just like the beauty of a woman can lure a man in, so false religion appeals to our flesh, to our imagination.

The Bible says she sits upon many waters. False religion sure has and does right. She’s everywhere, just like she’s on every corner in Proverbs 7. She’s tainted everything, contaminated everything. So many things of life carry her presence and her poison. She’s got a finger in every pie. All over the world. It’s why you really have to look at your life, where you are at in life. The Bible says she is drunken with the blood of the saints… false religion has always persecuted the true believers. They persecuted Jesus, the religious people did. Jesus said a time is coming when he that kills you will do it thinking he’s doing God a service.That’s how fooled, how drunken, people can be from her. They think they are serving God, they think they’re obeying God… but they’re not. Maybe you think you’re not suckling the tit of what the Bible calls the great whore. But maybe you really are, maybe you’re fooled. The Bible says to make your calling and election sure, and to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. She’s a whore, and many lie with her. If she wasn’t so pretty to you you’d refuse, but it’s the enticement and seduction… why did John write what he said in 1 John with so many warnings not to be seduced, not to be enticed, why is truth given to us so gunbarrel straight in the Bible so we can be equipped to know truth and able to act upon it.

False religion will not deliver you victory over sin. That’s one way you know if you are with her. She won’t rebuke you of sin, she won’t make you repent… what did that woman in Proverbs do… she enticed a simple man TO sin. False religion will lead you into sin. It will lead you away from God. But her pleasures and dainties is the Bible says is what keeps you “whoring” after her. Why do you think Israel so often went off after other gods… none of us are above getting sucked away from the truth of God’s word into the religious vortex. She has a cup full of abominations and blasphemy. People are drunk on her, what happens when you are drunk? You can’t discern, you can’t think, you are out of control. The Bible says you cannot put a difference between clean and unclean. Drunk people behave in a very unclean manner, they often swear, they’ll end up with their head in a toilet bowl, they’ll end up sleeping around under the alcohol’s influence. People have been rendered helpless by false religion. The Bible says in Proverbs that none that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life. What a warning! Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

Perhaps you think that is everyone else not you today. Well read the Bible and see where you are truly at with God. The Bible says many strong men have been slain by her. If she wasn’t so good at what she does, just like that woman in Proverbs is so good at enticing a man… The Bible says the Holy Spirit when he is come will reprove the world of sin, of righteousness, of judgement. The Holy Spirit points us to the word of God, ministering it to us in our hearts. The Holy Spirit points us to Jesus Christ. it is no wonder John said… this is the true God and eternal life. The Bible doesn’t have all those warnings for no reason, it’s because she is a present danger. She is able to have you in her clutches with you not knowing you are in her clutches. Look at Samson, he got worn down to a point, and loved her so much that he was sleeping in her lap all the while she was shaving his strength from him. Too often we wake up far too late, just like when he finally woke up, Philistines were on him about to bore his eyes out.

False religion is a great adversary and to be reckoned with. You can be in it and not know it, that’s why it’s so effective. But she, the great whore, is judged and finished. The Bible says for us to come out from among them and be ye separate and to touch not the unclean thing.The Bible says to desire the sincere milk of the word. Instead of suckling the whore’s tit, get your face in the word of God. Get something that won’t weaken you, as Samson was weakened, but get something that will strengthen you, something that is pure and sincere and truth, something that will make you grow. A made up God is not God. A God that is just your imagination is not God. Is your life confusion? Are you building away in vain? Are you in fact an enemy of the Lord Jesus Christ? These guys at Babel were in disobedience to God, God scattered them, they weren’t blessed, neither did they reach to heaven like they hoped.

There are only two religions… there is the Lord Jesus Christ… then there is all other religion. It is that simple. There is do… all religions you must “do” something… then there is done… believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Only one has risen from the dead, only one is the Lord God Almighty. Thousands of years on, and Babel’s legacy lives on, just as useless today for it’s souls as the builders were back then. Just as hopeless, just as vain, just as in disobedience and rebellion to God as they were. Substitute religion, and all about the glory of man, and about man’s imagination. There is a verse in the Bible which says except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain which build it. The foundation for a life that finds God, that goes to heaven, that has forgiveness of sin… is a life built upon the Lord Jesus Christ. Make him your cornerstone today. And your life will be a building not of your own hands which will fail, but your life will be built by God through his Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus Christ… or the religions of the world? You choose today.
