Carried Away By A Flood!

Isaiah 59:19 – So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

Revelation 12:15 – And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

Hello readers, time for a new blog today! We will be talking about being carried away by a flood today… but not quite the flood you think. The main flood we think of is the flood God sent to destroy the old world, but in this blog we see that the serpent, the devil, sends a flood out of his mouth too. The story in Revelation 12 is a future event, but from this story we see a great truth about the way Satan operates… he tries to flood us out, and by reason of the flood carry us away.

Satan does this to believers and unbelievers alike, he wants to carry you away, to flood your life and destroy you. Satan is not for you reader, he never has been and never will be… he will USE you yes, but that’s using you, he has his own interests at heart, not yours. He will destroy your life, hence why his name is Destroyer. The Bible tells us that when (not if!) the enemy shall come in like a flood… well look around you today, and we see just how great the flood has been that has come from the devil. He has flooded Christianity, flooded with new Bibles, new spirits, new words, new doctrines, new beliefs, new worship, new songs. He has bombarded Christianity and many people have been carried away. He also floods us with entertainment, with our careers, with our lusts, our desires, our ambitions, our dreams, our goals, and before we know what’s going on, we die, utterly lost and without hope for all of eternity.

Satan wanted to destroy the woman in Revelation, because that woman represents the nation of Israel, a nation God created. Satan hates all things of God, because he hates God. He was crown of God’s creation, the covering cherub, Lucifer full of light and glory, BUT he was created, he was not God… but he wanted the worship that was meant to go to God for himself. He was corrupted by his own beauty, he became full of pride, and he fell from heaven as lightning. He was cast out of the heaven of heavens, and this earth and world is his sphere. He is tirelessly at work against God, trying to achieve his goals of defeating God. Man was created for God, but Satan wants that relationship. Satan wants to turn what belongs to Jesus Christ to himself. He’s got many tools in his kitbag. He persecutes believers, he persecutes the word of God, he opposes the work of God in this world today. And so this woman represents not only Israel, but can represent us today, anyone who is saved, whom Satan opposes. He wants to flood you out.

He wants to carry you away with a flood. Don’t be flooded out. It seems like a plethora of beliefs, of ideas, of ways, of truths… the world is full of Satan’s lies… and we can literally be besieged by the devil, who goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. So worthy an adversary is he, that the whole world is deceived by him, that the world wonders after and worships the beast in Revelation, saying “Who is like unto the beast, and who can make war with him?”. Well there is one who is greater than Satan, his Creator, the Lord God. He can make war with him, and not only that, he has utterly defeated Satan. Most people, like in Daniel, have fallen down before him, but one person did not yield… Adam and Eve sinned and fell, but Jesus Christ did not sin, he was tempted in all points, yet without sin.

The Bible says in Isaiah, when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. What is that standard? It’s God’s word. We can measure all things in life by his word, and we can stand strong in the evil day. The standard is the tried and tested blood of Jesus Christ, which once and for all paid for our sins. Satan is such a powerful foe, even Michael the archangel didn’t enter into a dispute with him over the legality of Moses’ body… he has dominion, his power is great. But Jesus’ power is far greater, look at the contest for the soul of the man possessed of the Gadarenes. Jesus came on the scene, and the devils pleaded to go, they couldn’t leave the man quick enough. Jesus said go, and they went.

Satan floods us, he hits us from all sides. He hit Job from all sides, in ways he never saw coming, in ways inconceivable to Job. Yet Job did not curse God, his patience had it’s perfect way in his life, perfecting his faith, purifying him. God has let Satan loose, because God uses Satan to furnish man with real options with his free will, with his autonomy as a creature made in the image of God, albeit an image tarnished by sin. This woman would’ve been carried away, but the earth helped her and swallowed up the flood. The flood can be dealt with, the woman fled and so we need to flee from sin. And let God deal with the flood, because it was God who caused the ground to open to swallow up the waters that were designed to destroy the woman. We have to realize we do not have the power, but Jesus Christ does, he has dealt with Satan, Satan answers to him.

I have been thinking about one final thing, about when people say, “you’ve got to be more open minded”. But do we really need to be? Jesus said straight is the gate and NARROW is the way which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it. Another one is “you’re too black and white”. Yet God is light, and in him is NO darkness at all. It’s good to be narrow minded when we’ve found truth in the word of God, in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. You open your mind to the lies of the devil, and he will come in like a flood! Consider this verse… John 13:2 – And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him; … Satan can put things into our hearts, so we have to actually guard our hearts. Judas Iscariot’s heart was wide open to the devil, because he loved money, he lived a life that gave the devil full access… even while being in the presence of Jesus… how scary is that. One of the twelve, yet Satan right there at work. Proverbs 4:23 says “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Satan will flood us from all angles, so we have to watch what we’re letting in, WHO we are letting in. Watch what you’re opening your heart and mind to, because you give him ground, and he’ll come in like a flood. You open the door to the devil, he might just come right on in.

How to fix it!? How to survive a flood!? Well the Spirit of the Lord… that Spirit of Christ is who we need, because he will lift up a standard against the enemy. Get in the word of God, it is the sword of the Spirit. It is how we do battle, it is our spirit level, it is how we measure right from wrong, truth from lie, it’s how to live a now and future proof life. God gives us the grace, he never tells us something that he doesn’t give the grace to do or deal with. The power is of God, and through him we can have victory. Jesus said be of good cheer, I have overcome the world! And we know from 1 John that our faith is what causes us to overcome this world, simple faith in Jesus Christ, who he is and what he has done for us. The battle has already been won, we just need to enter in to that. Satan can’t touch us if we are saved, but if you are unsaved, you are open season, you are not safe. Don’t let Satan define your eternity, he hates you, he deceives you, he wants you to go to hell, and he will send a flood after you to carry you away. What has flood you out? Will you be carried away by the serpent’s flood?

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
