What Actually Is Salvation, What’s This All About

Matthew 1:21 – And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Hello new blog time today. We are going to take all this thing back to simplicity. Because the Bible says beware lest any should corrupt your minds from the simplicity that is in Christ. Why did you become a Christian? Because many people today go to and follow Jesus for the wrong reasons. Hence they are not actually saved, show no spiritual life, don’t get or go anywhere in their walk.

Jesus came to save us from what? Salvation means saved from something. So what are we being saved from? SIN. Is the short answer. But people don’t want to be saved from their sin. They want God at their beck and call, they want him to meet their physical needs, but God don’t touch my sin. Because I like my sin, I like it’s dominion over me, it has pleasure, it’s great, it’s my little treasure.

Jesus came to save us from our sins. That’s why he came. So yes, people do want to escape hell. So Jesus is the solution to that. Why do people go to hell? Because of their sin. If you are not forgiven by God of your sin and washed and cleansed from it you will go to hell. Because sin is awful, filthy, dirty, nasty, unclean, wicked, AGAINST God… and sin must be paid for, must be atoned for, it carries a price. If the price isn’t paid, the ransom met, you will go to hell, and stay there forever, because you will never be able to pay it. The punishment is forever, because no amount of punishment ever satisfies the crime. The crime is yes, that bad. It takes the Spirit of God to convict you of sin, to show it to you and impress it on your heart.

But is it enough to just not want to go to hell? That is a legitimate reason. The penalty is hell, and hell is because we have sin. So sin is the problem. If your sins are dealt with, then you don’t go to hell. That simple. Salvation is from hell, but because it is firstly salvation from sin. Saved from sin. What is sin? It is the transgression of God’s law, his character, his design, his love, his holiness, his purity, his ways… HIM. Sin at it’s fundamental spiritual core is against God, the outworking in the physical is just a result of the spiritual truth about each person. Sin is a spiritual and thus a physical affront to God. It is against ourselves, it harms our lives. So people do get sorry for sin. Not because it’s sin, but because they don’t like the consequences of it. So they are sorry for the consequences, and want them alleviated, but they didn’t want salvation from their sinful nature, character, which is what produced the physical effects which is what they want salvation from.

Man at the start sinned. Rewind to Genesis 3. Adam sinned, he disobeyed God willingly. We are all descended from Adam, it is passed down, it is genetic, hereditary. Man fell, and sin entered and had dominion over us. So we are conceived in sin, born in, sold in sin. We sin, because we are sinners by birth and by nature. So when we lust, covet, are proud, envy, jealous and so on, it’s just the outworking of the fact that that is our nature, our character, our identity. We all start out like this. Humans born in sin.

So we are sinners. That sin is in us, deep inside us, in our heart. It is our identity. And it needs fixing, because it is a poison, leaven that throughly permeates and ruins our life. It changes us, makes us do bad things, harms others, manifests itself in so many horrible ways. It is destructive, selfish at it’s core. Noone taught us to be selfish, to lie, to steal… it’s IN us. That’s our character. We are UNCLEAN. Totally alienated from God, totally fallen, utterly depraved, utterly corrupted.

Jesus said, except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish. Why do we need to repent? And yes, we do. Yet repentance is lacking from the gospel that is being declared today. Because that is the fundamental step in salvation. We repent of sin and turn to Jesus Christ for saving from it. That’s true salvation. We are saved from our sins. We are saved from it’s penalty, it’s power, it’s presence. That’s a true, complete full salvation. Total deliverance from sin for a saved person. That’s true fullness of life, that’s a wonderful life and future. Because that’s all that matters. This life, you win, you lose, you die, you came into this world naked, and naked you will depart. What you take with you to the next life is who and what you are. If you lived in sin, never got saved, you take all that filth and wreckage with you. Because who you are is what you take with you. If you never got saved, you never got saved from sin, you never experienced the life of God through Jesus Christ, who comes to live in those who repent of their sin and believe on him for salvation from sin… who then lives in us and sanctifies us, cleans us up, changes us! True fullness and fulfillment of life is when you acknowledge and confess your sin and turn to Jesus Christ for forgiveness, washing, cleansing. This is the will of God, to save you from your sin. If you want to be saved from sin in your life, he WILL, not might, he WILL hear you and receive you. He’ll do it all, just call upon him with your heart.

Sin actually isn’t that great. It’s not nice to steal, cheat, lie, hurt people, have malice and hatred and bitterness, be jealous, envious, consumed by sin and darkness. Sin is really quite horrible, it’s not a full life. You can spend your life pursuing your self, your lust, your pride, but it won’t give you true happiness, joy, true freedom and life. Jesus came to set us free. True liberty is  freedom from sin through Jesus Christ. When you are saved, you are set free from sin to live unto God, to live right before him and others. You’ll know love, mercy, grace and have that for others. Isn’t God’s way better? Anyway, only God can impress this on your heart. But you can tell someone who is saved from someone who isnt… because after all, is their life showing any actual saving? Are they saved from sin? Are you saved from sin? And yes, we do struggle with it, but his Spirit in us is greater than our flesh, Jesus wins in us. Because after all, Jesus did no sin! He overcame this world, the flesh, tempted in every point, yet without sin, incredible. It’s his life that the victory is. It’s no wonder the Bible says. He that HATH the Son HATH life. Not just eternal life, but a free life now. Are you free from sin? Saved right now? Are you free and free indeed. It may not be proseperous physically, but you’ll know Psalms 144:15 – Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD. And that’s also when you’ll finally love God’s word, because it’s your life, the blockage you have to the word of God is that you are not interested in salvation from sin, but something else. Jesus shall save HIS people from their SIN. And then these verses will be not just words on paper, but your heart and life reality.

Romans 6:17 – But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Romans 6:18 – Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Romans 6:19 – I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Romans 6:20 – For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

Romans 6:21 – What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

Romans 6:22 – But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
