Lord Jesus Christ Or Another Jesus?

Acts 16:31 – And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Acts 20:21 – Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hey all, new blog today, and something a bit different today. I am going to be looking at the name “Lord Jesus Christ”. All three parts of his name are important. Because many, many people believe in”a” Jesus. But what Jesus do you believe in? The true Jesus or a false Jesus, the true Christ or a false Christ? This is important, Jesus himself warned us that in the last days many false Christs would arise. Paul said in 2 Corinthians that there is “another” Jesus and “another” gospel. The spirit of antichrist is already working in the world, and antichrist is coming, who will not come in the Father’s name, but in his own name, who will deceive the whole world who will think he is Christ.

Many, many people have a relationship and fellowship with a false, a counterfeit, an impostor Jesus. Such people are on dangerous ground, the spirit(s) they are dealing with is not the Holy Spirit, but a familiar spirit, a spirit of error, a spirit leading them to destruction. Humans love to commit idolatry, and we commit idolatry when we worship and serve a Jesus invented by our own minds, a Jesus who leads us contrary to the Word of God, a Jesus who doesn’t require repentance, a Jesus who makes us feel so emotional and good. The true Jesus is unmistakable, but are you looking for the true Jesus? We have the promise of God that if you truly seek you find, are you searching with all your heart? Do you want truth, which is sometimes very inconvenient, or do you a good feeling lie?

Most people around the world intellectually assent to the existence of a man called Jesus, many would tell you he was a good man, who lived and died. But these also are missing it. Because although Jesus exists, unless we appropriate what he has done for us, unless we RECEIVE his forgiveness of our sins, unless we believe in our hearts on him, he will not be your life, but instead will be the Judge who sends you to hell. Our existence comes down to what we do with Jesus. We all do something with him. We can deny him, forget him, attempt to wash our hands of making a decision, we can want him PLUS something else, we can prefer an idolatrous construction of him in our minds. But ultimately, what you do with the REAL TRUE Lord Jesus Christ, the God of the Bible, the God defined in and by HIS OWN Word (remember, Jesus is called the Word of God)… is what will count. Make sure you believe in and serve and praise and worship the true Jesus, that’s why we need and read and live by the word of God, which enables us to discern the spirit world. Because many false spirits will try and seduce us. That’s why John wrote in 1 John 2:26 – These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. Do not be seduced away from truth, from reality, do not settle for any foundation other than the foundation which no man can lay which is laid, which is Christ.

Please note, Jesus has many, many names. The Bible calls him by many names, but  all the names are the same person, the  Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says God is one. God consists of the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one – 1 John 5:7. These are referred to as the Godhead. In Revelation we read that One sits on the throne. There is perfect unity in the Godhead. Jesus is how we know God, he is our Mediator, our Priest to God. We deal with God by and through him, he is God. The whole Bible is about Jesus, and there are so many names used to describe him, because he is everything. All points to him. He is the Creator, he is God, in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, he is God in the flesh. As an example of Jesus being called by another name, for example in Revelation he is called “Faithful and True”. He is the “Word of God” – In the beginning was the Word we read in the start of the Book of John.

It is important to know at this point that there are cults and false teachings which say there is a special name, but that name is lost, or unattainable, who shroud the name of Christ in secrecy and mystery, and veil truth from their disciples and those they influence. The Lord’s name is no secret. We are all created with the knowledge of him, we all are without excuse.God knows who is truly seeking and calling him. The Bible says that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. He is not just a name, he is a person, he is God, he is the  Son of God. Anyone can call on him. You can call on him in any of the myriad of different languages, just truly call on God. His Spirit guides us into truth, what’s important is that you receive his Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, and God himself teaches you, guides you.

In the next three paragraphs I will now get to where I was heading, the name “Lord Jesus Christ”. Because in his name we learn and see and know what we need to know about him. All three parts of his name teach us about him, and what we need to do with him.

Firstly, LORD. Jesus is God. He is the ruler, the Judge. He is Supreme. He is over and above and before all. And this is what we personally each have to see. He is MY Lord. Lord is a word that shows submission, humility on our part as we believe on him as he is anyway, the Lord. He is MY Lord. We already easily delineate from all other false Jesus’, because false Jesus’ like the Jesus of the Mormons (for instance), who is NOT God, who is A son of God,  not the Son of God. This is not to say there is not a Mormon out there who is not truly saved, God knows the hearts, but what is clear is that the Jesus the Mormons teach of and subscribe to is an idol Jesus – a fake, false Jesus, with no power, no life, leaving it’s followers in darkness, enveloping them in uncertainty and gloom. It is so sad, but the true Word of God blows the Mormon “Jesus” out the water. Whether or not you believe that Jesus is Lord does not change the fact he IS Lord, but whether or not you believe rather determines your future. The Jesus that gives forgiveness and eternal life is the Lord. Is your Jesus … Lord? When John saw him in the last chapter of John, when the disciples recognized him after his resurrection, John said… It is the Lord. Is he your Lord, your God – as Thomas said?

Secondly, Jesus. Go back to Matthew where the name of Jesus was announced by the angel. Matthew 1:21 – And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. The first recording of his name, the meaning of his name. It is all to do with sin. Because humanity’s universal problem is … sin. We are all sinners, we have all sinned, we all do sin. I sin. You sin. The other guy sins. The human being you idolize sins. Jesus is the ONLY sinless man to have every lived. He did no sin. He never sinned. He was and is sinless, he is perfect. Jesus is the solution to our sin. Sin is the thing that separates us, alienates us from God. But Jesus is God, he is sinless, and he forgives sins, and he forgives freely, all you need to do is believe, a heart belief that receives the forgiveness he offers to us. We all need to be forgiven, we all can be forgiven, but the reality is most do not want to be forgiven, most reject his forgiveness, most prefer their  sin, most turn from Jesus. Jesus saves HIS people from their sins. Are you one of his people? You can be. The offer is extended to all. He gives the water of life freely. He has not, does not, nor ever will reject anyone who comes to him. Jesus is the way, the truth, the life, the only way to the Father. He can save you. False Jesus’ have no power to forgive, have no power to save, and they do not offer. In fact, they do not even want sin talked about. Does your Jesus require repentance? Does your Jesus deal with sin in your life? Does your Jesus not only excuse your sin, but justify your sin? Do you want the truth?

Thirdly, and finally, Christ. Christ means anointed one. He is the one. The promised seed. That prophet. The Son of God. Who we were waiting for, who we are waiting for the second time. He is God in the flesh. It is him that all the promises are fulfilled in. He is the Messiah, the Saviour. He is the one approved by God. All the Bible points to him, the prophets pointed to him, John the Baptist bore witness, everyone agrees that he is the one. Jesus asked Peter who did men say that he was, then he asked Peter who did he (Peter) say that he was. Matthew 16:16 – And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. The true Jesus is the Christ, the anointed one, the one with the power, the one to whom heaven and earth has been given, the one who will judge the world, the one who God himself bears witness of, the only one whose life and existence and sacrifice God is pleased with. God said of his Son, THIS is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

So is the Jesus you believe in, or assent to …  The LORD JESUS CHRIST? A New Agers Jesus is different to the Jesus of the Bible. They can talk to you about Jesus, but the Jesus they know, the Jesus they say, is completely and utterly different to the Lord Jesus Christ. Another Jesus, another gospel… just as Paul warned of. A Muslim believes in Jesus, but he is “just” a prophet, a good man, but not the Son of God (He couldn’t be! Allah has no son according to the Koran), and definitely not God. There are countless people from countless denominations, cults, of every persuasion or just church goers who believe, or attest to a Jesus who is completely distinct from the Jesus of the Bible. But it only ultimately matters, just as Jesus asked Peter … who do YOU say that I am? I hope this blog has not been confusing. As the true Jesus is incredibly, immediately, and absolutely distinct from all false Christs. He is Light. He is God. He is All Powerful. Those who do not want the truth will find lies, and want to believe lies. If you seek truth, you will find truth. If you truly call upon the name of the Lord, you will be saved. It’s all up to you. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is God. He is the Son of God. He will forgive you, he will save you – for free, fully, and forever. After you are saved, he will guide you into the truth, he will order your steps, he will keep you, he gives you faith, he will fulfill his promises, he is worth it, he is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
