Try The Spirit Of Your Bible
1 John 4:1 – Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
The Bible commands us to try the spirits. And how do we do that? By comparing spiritual things with spiritual as the Bible says in 1 Corinthians. The Bible is a spiritual book. Jesus said my words are spirit and life in John 6. It is necessary to try the spirits, the spiritual world is real and it is dangerous when we stray from the security and safe boundaries of the word of God. The woman with the spirit of divination in Acts was seemingly saying all the right things, but she did not have the spirit of God. Matthew 7:21 – Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
There are a myriad of different versions of the Bible. I believe that the Authorized King James Bible is the pure, preserved word of God, as it claims to be. Now I could give a many reasons for this, but it does ultimately take a step of faith. The priests had to first take that step into the raging flooding Jordan before it parted. But God will validate your decision, he will show you, he leads us into truth. I have a God that wants me to know I am saved, he gives me an assurance of salvation. I am useless to others unless I am fully convinced myself based on his word, which he has exalted above his name. Maybe your mind is already made up, already determined, I hope you will take a step back, and begin to test the spirit of your Bible.
When you read your Bible, does your Bible build your faith? Or does it minister doubt to you? The legacy of the King James Bible is that of faith and the immense power and working of God. The legacy of the new versions is doubt, ambiguity, unsurity, arguments on what God is saying and what God means. It is the age old question by Satan, Yea hath God said? The Bible says the just shall live by faith. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The Bible says that we walk with God by faith, and that without faith it is impossible to please God. It is all about faith, and faith in God based on the word of God. If Satan can cause you to doubt the word of God, just like he did with Eve in the beginning, he will be able to cause you to fall, just like he did to mankind in the beginning. Satan is a faith killer, and any Bible that kills, rather than builds, your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is surely not authored by the Spirit of truth, rather the spirit of error that is talked about in 1 John.
Are you able to build the faith of others? Without first coming under the authority of the word yourself, you will not be able to build the faith of others, because you are not sure yourself that you have the actual words of God. Are you subject to the Bible, or is it subject to you? Do you believe that God is able to preserve his word and provide it to you and that you can be sure of this? Are you a Christian without a sword who cannot do battle, who cannot be used by God? Are you even saved? Because the Bible says we are born again of the incorruptible seed of the word of God? Have you receive incorruptible seed or Satan’s corrupted seed? You may be just like the man of God in 1 Kings 13, who was easily exploited by the man who lied to him because he was not convinced, because he was easily swayed when it came to the authority, accuracy, and sufficiency of the word of God. Do you rely on the Spirit to overcome the fact you do not believe you have the pure, inspired, preserved, actual words of God to you? How can you teach anyone something that you only received by a spirit? You are useless to others. How can you not help others? Do you expect others to put faith in your spiritual insights which they can not ever see, hear, witness, test, or verify? One Bible says this, another Bible says that. It is an uncertain sound which Paul warned of in 1 Corinthians. I can say I have the very word of God available, it is his word, that he has faithfully delivered to me, whose authority I come under. I believe that God has said. He has spoken. I have his word. I know his voice. Are you in a place of, Yea hath God said?
Say I say I believe that Jesus is God, I am taking a faith stance on the word of God. I can go to 1 John 5:7 which definitively proves this. As a result my faith is built because what I say is clearly backed up and has a strong and sure foundation in the word of God. Additionally, this verse does not deny the Son, but exalts him as God. Jesus is the Word, and the Word is God. See my faith? Faith is not an abstract thing, it is not based on experiences in the spiritual realm, rather it is belief based on the sure word of God. I do not follow cunningly devised fables, and I do not have special, exclusive insight and knowledge which you do not have access to. The Word of God is freely available and accessible to all. God wants us all to know, and know based on his word. This protects me against cults and every false religion which start from private interpretations and revelations. Jesus said he spoke openly in the world, in secret he said nothing. Cults start from secrets, from special spiritual divine revelations. The Bible rules out any private interpretation. Private interpretations are how cults start. Special divine enlightenment. An elite that know things you don’t, that see things you don’t see. They become your guide instead of the word of God. It is the word of God that is our lamp and our light through the darkness of this world. Your Bible is your protection against being exploited by these kind of people. You have the same access to God and knowledge that everyone else does. I say this because many people who use other versions emphasize spirituality and understanding, they are essentially private interpretations, because what they say cannot and is not backed up by their Bible. Ambiguity, interpretations, doubt, confusion are not hallmarks of the working and presence of the spirit of God.
Do you have the true, pure, inspired, preserved word of God in your hands? Do you memorize Scripture? Can you recall Scripture easily? Or have you been cheated of his word? Have you surrendered your sword? How can you do battle with your unseen enemy without your sword, soldier of Christ? The Bible says to meditate and keep God’s words in our hearts. You are effectively being robbed. The Bible prophesies of times of famine of the word of God. In the days of Samuel, the Bible says the word of God was precious in those days. We are in the days of a famine of the word of God, despite the plethora of Bibles. Satan is so smart. He will defraud you, he will cheat you. He is a murderer.
What is your faith built on? Mine is built on the word of God, as the Bible commands. Is your faith built on your experiences and feelings? Although they can be nice, they are meaningless. Whether or not you feel saved does not determine whether you are or aren’t saved. Salvation is not based on feelings, it is based on God’s word. The first time feelings are mentioned in the Bible is when Isaac was fooled by Jacob. Don’t be fooled by Satan or one of his false spirits. 1 John 5:13 – These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Wow, does that build your faith, and minister straight to your spirit or not? 1 John 1:4 – And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
Does your Bible glorify Jesus Christ and exalt him alone? Read the KJV Bible. It glorifies and builds your faith the Lord Jesus Christ. It puts him on a pedestal, it lifts him up. And as Jesus said, when he is lifted up, he will draw all men unto him. 1 John 5;7 exalts him above everyone else, Jesus is God, and noone else. There is salvation is none other. What spirit would guide a “well meaning translator” to remove this? What spirit would guide a “well meaning translator” to take a rare Egyptian scroll over a common and readily available Antioch scroll over this? They were first called Christians at Antioch. But those of Alexandria were disputers, they disputed with Stephen. Is your Bible disputing with you, causing you to doubt, is it a faith killer, as they murdered Stephen the mighty man of faith?
You will have to come to your own conclusion. But take a step back and consider. Does your Bible build your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? Do you live by the word of God? Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Is your faith in the word, is your foundation strong and sure? The Spirit will never circumvent and be at odds with the word of God. The Spirit works through, not around the word of God. The Spirit bears witness of Christ. It declares and exalts him. The true Spirit reproves the world of sin, of righteousness, of judgement. The Spirit is not a sensual, mystic, emotional, fuzzy feeling, love everyone, don’t judge me, accepting of sin, intellectual, ambiguous, doubting mess. The reason God gave us his word, and we can know, is what prevents us from being exploited by the myriad of phonies who claim divine revelation, who preach a different gospel, who present a different Jesus to the Jesus of the Bible. Try the spirit that wrote your Bible, you must try the spirits. Try the spirits, test them, prove them today.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
