The Kind Of Love You Want! ..SINCERE Love
Sincere Love!
Ephesians 6:24 “Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.”
Here is the final verse of the book of Ephesians, which is a wonderful book to Christians.
And it deals with the “love” word!
Love is a wonderful thing, and to love and be loved truly is a gift from God in this life.
Christians should be known by their love to God and others, although often we are pretty “bare branched” on love, but not necessarily how you might think.
When we talk love, we tend to categorize loving people as those who are inoffensive, speak nicely, shower us with praise, enable anything we do…
And really, we do not lack Christians that talk about love, but we do lack for Christians that “do” love aka. love “sincerely”. Which is what we are talking about today!
Do you want to know love that is sincere? …”Sincere love” being love that is what it says it is and claims to be? This world is crying out for love that is more than empty words, con artistry and deception.
You can find insincere love anywhere, on a street corner, in a church, on the job, at the pub, watching your favorite team… but to receive and give “sincere love”… that kind of love can only be found in God, for “God is love”.
… noone will ever love you like God loves you through his Son Christ Jesus, and as such, his love, so poetically described in Solomon’s Song of songs is a Love of loves that stands separate, alone, towering above our minds and finite fallen frames… a love found from God to man in the cross of Christ.
For God to send his Son to die on the cross for our sins, after everything we’ve done, even after everything we are and will yet be (although you might still be hung up on thinking you’re better than you actually are), truly is mindblowing… and in fact too high for us.
I hope you have begun on the journey of this love, and when sought out, found and not let go, and brought home with you as she did in the Song of Songs… it must be fought for, guarded and protected also as Song of Solomon teaches! Because it can be so easily taken, neglected, or surrendered.
After all, the verse quoted at the start, signing off the letter to the church at Ephesus… this same church even for all it’s well doing would be reprimanded later by Christ in the book of Revelation because… “thou hast left thy first love”.
I hope the love of Christ is what drew you and sustains you! Things get pretty clunky when love is gone!
But back to the sincerity of love. Because sincerity is an aspect of love that is quite neglected.
There’s a lot of love out there no doubt, many modern churches market themselves based on love, knowing the desire that we have for loved based relationships and worship… but the sincerity of that love is one of many aspects, including it’s source and stand and stability, which determines it’s actual godliness or not.
… If you didn’t know what the word means yet, well, sincerity means “Freedom from hypocrisy, disguise or false pretense” and “Honesty of mind or intention”…
… in other words… sincere love is a love that actually is love.
I hope this is what you have known for yourself by trusting in Christ, and then as an extension of that, hopefully this is what you have toward others! Same for me also!
… but if you don’t love someone, don’t pretend you do! They’d rather you be honest than fake love.
Sincerity is a missing virtue in much of today’s Christianity particularly in “love” as the perception of whether you’re loving or not is the standard by which you are judged …
Don’t be someone who just speaks love, be someone who does love. Be someone who has a sincere love for others, finding that grace… another word found in this final verse from Paul to Ephesus… in God.
We live in a world where just about nothing is what it says it is, and love leads the charge, but that doesn’t have to be you. You can know God’s sincere love to you and have that towards others “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”
We love, because God first loved us. Let God give you a sincere love for him and toward others. A love free from deception, flattery, ulterior motives, selfish agendas, pitfalls… a love set free to serve and honour your Saviour… sincere love.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
