Are You One Of “His People”?
Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
People! Are you one of “his people”?
Are you one of Jesus Christ’s “people”?
I hope you are, I most certainly am! If you aren’t… you can be! And in fact, why would you not be?
I am so thankful for being a child of God. It is the blessing from which all other blessings flow.
And because I’m his child, I get some parental discipline from my heavenly Father, but it’s because he loves me!
And under his oversight we go through all sorts of hills and valleys, through it all, God knowing the way we take, and when we are tried, as his children, he will trim the dross and bring out the gold!
I hope you are his child, it will make your experience of this life totally different, there is no life outside of Jesus Christ… just death. “Why seek ye the living among the dead?”
Yeah I know, I know, you may say, well everyone claims to be a child of God… and that’s true!
… but “his people”… as stipulated by his word, the word of God, which is much greater than the word of man… such as in this verse … where his birth is announced to his father (not biological father, Joseph)… his people are those who are saved from their sins!
Have you been saved from your sins? The reason why we call Jesus Christ “Saviour” is because he saves, and he came to save us from our sins.
Have you been saved from anything by Jesus Christ yet? Porn? Drugs? Alcohol? Fornication? Adultery? Lust? Greed? Pride? Covetousness? Selfishness? Envy? … Satan, death, hell?
Jesus saves, Jesus saves.
Jesus came to give you a life more than the lowlands of sin, he will give you true joy, happiness, fulfillment, purpose, eternity… because you have peace with God “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ”
How about a bit of heaven on this stinking old earth?
No wonder the Bible says Bless the Lord O My soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
When you lay down that stupid, silly pride and surrender to God and believe in his Son, it’s the best, most freeing, liberating, joyous day of your life. When you go from hating on the God you say you don’t even believe in, and stop blaming him, and instead trust him, invisible chains will fall off your soul, and the iron gate of pride will swing wide open.
… Free!
Who are Jesus Christ’s people? Who are the children of God? Who belong to him?… well, based on the meaning of his name, according to his certified, authorized, holy book… his people are those who have been saved from their sins by him!
He does the forgiving, the washing, the cleansing, the restoring, the regenerating, the renewing… Jesus saves, Jesus saves.
Everything Jesus ever did while he was here was to point people to the salvation power over sin he had. Read in Matthew 9, where they bring a sick man on a bed and he especially says that he healed him so they would know he had the power to forgive sins.
Much is made of gifts, many supposed, in the modern church, but the Bible teaches the apostles and gifts and everything has been given to the church is to point people to salvation from sin found in Christ… and build them up in and upon that truth.
Your new car, new job, and miraculous recovery from malady might be welcome, but that is all short lived and maybe not even good for us spiritually… but true spiritual blessings, which are available freely to us all, are being washed in the blood of Christ, made new, capable of loving God and loving others.
Jesus didn’t come to destroy your life, we’ve done a good enough job of that already. He came to seek and save the lost.
I was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see. I hope you’ve seen your need for a Saviour. I hope you see how naked, and blind, and miserable, and vain, and unthankful, and selfish, and lustful, and proud you really are… as are we all. That’s exactly who Jesus came to save! He can save you from all that! And will, and there is no salvation in any other. He alone is the Saviour.
That’s why Jesus’ name is so special. Cry out to him! the cry of faith in repentance and surrender is a cry that never goes unheard. Jesus promised “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”. Amen! I did, and I became his, but it’s for you too, you can be his people, a true child of God!

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
