Tell Them, Christian!
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”
Verse 13 of Romans chapter 10 is a wonderful salvation verse… all you need to do is call upon the Lord and he will save you!
… but how will people know to call upon the Lord if nobody tells them? How will people know they need to be saved and how to be saved if nobody tells them?
Verse 14 is saying that people need to be “told”. I did! And everyone does.
We as Christians put a lot of emphasis on the witness of our life, often emphasising it’s importance over the witness of the tongue.
Often the witness of the tongue is marginalised into total absence. … and sure, everyone can perpetually “let their life do the talking” but eventually we’re going to have to say something… as that’s the whole point of our life talking… so we can say something “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so”!
Yes, our lives should open the door to being heard and add weight and credibility to what we say… But it should not replace actually saying it!
The reason most Christians don’t speak up is because they don’t want to take the risk of how will that person react? “Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.”
If you’re a Christian, have you ever told someone the gospel? Not alluded to it, not the safe bits… but the whole gospel truth. Yes it’s risky and scary, but also exciting… bite the bullet one day and you might be surprised.
Dare to break that silent unwritten rule of you’re not allowed to speak about Jesus… take the risk like Esther did! “and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish” …it turned out pretty well for her!
It’ll be sad to go to heaven having never actually told anyone. … and it’s also disobedience. The witness of our life should compliment, not substitute, for the witness of our mouth.
People are not just going to magically come to things if you don’t tell them. God does use people to tell other people. And if you know to tell them and don’t… you’re potentially robbing that person of eternal life. Don’t let someone go to hell having never warned them!
It’s not “love” or somehow noble to not tell someone the gospel! Thats self love, not God’s love. Everyone in hell wants you to speak up, they’re counting on you! The rich man in hell’s last request was… send someone to TELL my brothers not to come to this place!
Jesus is not ashamed of us… when he could be justified in doing so. Let us not be ashamed of him! “I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.”
The Bible says that “with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” It does matter what we say. And it is through preaching… the unashamed unapologetic authoritative declaration of the truth of Gods word (and that’s not just a church pulpit at all!)… that people get saved.
Sure, some people won’t like it. But let them reject it rather than us be the ones that deny them it! … You will see someone get saved from going to hell if you sow enough seed!
They will not know if we do not tell them … so tell them!

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
