A New Beginning Is Possible In Christ Jesus… Happy Birthday!

Exodus 12:1 “And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,”

Exodus 12:2 “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.”

Ever wanted a new beginning? A new chance at life?

And not just one which you try to start… but one which God starts? One that isn’t birthed in your own power and inevitably falls apart… but one birthed in the power of God?

The gospel is the power of God unto salvation… and whether you believe it or not, a totally new life, existence, direction and eternity is completely possible… in Jesus Christ.

“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful”

… There is only one on the throne! “where the word of a king is, there is power” … and the King of kings makes all things new, and he can for you too. And he guarantees it to you! “these words are true and faithful”.

We live in a world of so so SO many words, so much word of man…
… there’s so many opinions, theories, ideas, philosophies, expertise… lies, deception, disappointment … but then there is the word of almighty God… which God has certified and sealed with the promise of enduring forever.

When all else is gone, it is God’s word “Whose word, when Heaven and earth shall pass. Remains, and stands for ever sure.”

Pin your faith on God’s word and you won’t be let down! And yeah, some or even a lot of God’s word may be a slow burn… but it is surely burning.

Abraham waited a long time on the slow burn of God’s promises… but at the set time, and at the appointed time, he and Sarah did receive the miracle child that God had promised.

So just hang right on in there! Hanging on God’s promises will surely be rewarded. In Jericho, the harlot Rahab’s life hung on the promises of two spies she had received from a foreign nation one day… and yet when the walls fell flat, her house still stood and she was safe and sound… God’s promises work pretty good!

And so the verses quoted at the start are taken from the book of Exodus, where God is bringing his children out of slavery in Egypt, and it is Passover night, where they offer a perfect lamb, which they eat for themselves (noone can do it for you, you’ve got to get saved for yourself!)… and they paint its blood on their doorposts… “and when I see the blood, I will pass over you,”

And God is telling Moses here… this is a birth, this is the beginning of a whole new identity, existence, and life for this people. Because passover night is what finally broke Pharaoh’s hold, control, power and claim over their souls.

God is in the freedom and liberty business. And God set his people free, and their entire calendar forever would begin from and be based on this night, as he bought this people for himself by power and blood out of the Egyptian iron furnace.

… and of course looking back we know this all points to Jesus Christ “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world”… and when you truly receive him as your Saviour, as the Holy Spirit powerfully moves in your heart to do so… that will mark the beginning of a new life, new creature, new journey, new destiny.

The only truly new beginning that we can have is when we get saved, everything else is just reshuffling the old existing pack of cards in the hand of our life “The lot is cast into the lap; But the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.”

I don’t know what your lot is, and sometimes we don’t get much of a choice in it either, yet we are also responsible for our own sin and responding to the call of the gospel to be saved and walk in that newness of life… so let God dispose of that old life, that old you… let him make a true new beginning in you, and this is your real birthday, the most important birthday you will ever have.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
