John 3:7 “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”

What a verse this is, it is one of the most important verses in the Bible… because it is foundational and critical for salvation and the Christian life.

It’s Jesus speaking to a well meaning sincere reasonable religious man who was seriously seeking answers.

He was in good shape to get them, because he went to the right source… Jesus Christ, the Word of God… and he got the answer! “ye must be born again”.

… It blew him away. But Jesus told him not to marvel at it though, because being born again is essential and mandatory for each one of us.

True Biblical Christianity is diverse from every other religion in this world in many ways, one of which is that it is based on the living Saviour Jesus Christ who creates an entirely new person in you that is completely separate from the old you when you get saved.

What a relief… something brand new in a world of corruption, death and despair.

Salvation is a new birth! It’s a change nobody sees, and yet at salvation you become a new person thereafter forever… whereby people wonder what happened to you.

That new person is so different to the old you, because it is a new person with different thinking, understanding, priorities, dreams, goals, speech and desires. Where you loved sin, suddenly you love holiness and purity, where you thrived on worldliness, now you feed on Gods word.

Because it’s not an upgraded old man… it’s a new man within. Salvation is not a religious overhaul job. God doesn’t bother trying to overhaul the old, he starts on you by creating you new “Behold, I make all things new”.

Matthew 9:17 “Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.”

If you’re claiming to be a Christian, hopefully you have been born again! And we all need to make sure of this fact, because we can know now “Beloved, now are we the sons of God”.

The very first thing the Bible establishes about our God is his power and authority as Creator through his word… that’s for a reason… because salvation is a new creation, just as new and incredible as the heaven and the earth in Genesis 1:1.

Have you been born again? It is the key 🔑 to the Christian life. Jesus himself said “ye must be born again”. Must!! Anything less than new birth in Christ Jesus, a new life and heartbeat started that goes forever, cannot and will never get it done.
