Prayer Works! Get Praying!

Hello dear readers, I posted this on my Facebook this morning, but thought I’d post it here too, because I know there are several people who read my blog who particularly care for me and my life…

I post to both my Facebook and on here, and obviously FB has the audience moreso of people that know me a bit more personally (though not necessarily at all either), whereas wordpress is a bit more international in flavour.

Nevertheless, I have enjoyed wonderful fellowship and dialogue with readers and fellow Christians all around the world, and so this definitely applies to this forum also! It applies to you!

But also to all readers, because we all should and need to share in this personally in our lives.

Exodus 17:12 “But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”

I want to thank everyone that has been praying for me through my life but also particularly recently.

I’ve needed it… a lot.

Prayer does make a difference. It’s hard to believe it’s true but prayers of others have made a difference in my life.

I’ve doubted prayer a lot during my life wondering if God hears, cares or it even makes a difference.

But it has.

None of us are an island. We all need prayer and help… and this is pictured beautifully in the Old Testament where an old fashioned battle, a fight to the death was unfolding….where when Moses hands were held up they were winning, but when his dropped down they were losing… and Moses hands got heavy!!!

Moses got tired quickly! Moses couldn’t bear it all. And none of us can. We all reach failure quickly. That’s why we need each other.

As Moses’ arms got very heavy as the battle raged in the valley below (good old valleys in our lives hey!) so prayer can be very heavy work!! We struggle to hold up by ourselves… many times we need to be upheld. And prayer can turn the tide.

Life truly is a battle unfolding in each of our lives and some times more particularly than others, and who is winning can largely depend on who is holding up who. In this story, two men… Aaron and Hur made all the difference to the outcome of a war by helping Moses through holding up his heavy hands. Many hands make light work!

… but to those unsung heroes of the Christian faith, they are out there, who nobody will ever know your labour in prayer… you wont get glory or recognition maybe and it wasn’t about that, it was sacrificial…. but God sees it and it pleases God and will ring for eternity. It is a sweet smelling sacrifice to God.

And it may be needed in the moment or it might take time… but no prayer is ever forgotten or wasted they are all remembered during the grandest of grand scenes around the throne of God in Revelation 5:8.

… Often people ask for prayer and we don’t or forget to!!!… or maybe God puts someone on our heart but we never realized they needed us then… prayer is needed in the raging battle!!! but it is often an area of immense defeat.

Jesus laboured through his toughest night and needed prayer… and his disciples were fast asleep! Jesus sweat great drops of blood such was his agony over facing taking the sins of the world .. as his disciples were catching πŸ’€ s

On the last day of 2021 heading into the new year God showed me the importance of prayer going forward in my life in the phrase “first of all” as found in 1 Timothy 2:1.. may every Christian everywhere be earnest in prayer and we would see so much more happening in the world around us, get outside ourselves start thinking about others and where there is no self glory to be had in the prayer closet…yet really start interceding and standing in the gap and holding others up… even if nobody else will ever know but we all truly badly need it.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
