Jesus Christ, Our Godsend
1 John 4:9 “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.”
Have you ever heard or used the term “godsend”?
“Godsend” means “a desirable or needed thing or event that comes unexpectedly”.
We all can think of some godsends we’ve experienced in our lives… such as a good friend or spouse or children, or a deliverance in some situation when we needed it!
Whatever it is, hopefully we do attribute the good gifts and graciousness of God actually to God rather than sending our “gratitude” to the aether instead!
God is good, and he proved his goodness and incomprehensible love to every human being when he provided the ultimate “godsend”.
It is important to realize that the true meaning of “godsend”, where it comes from, and in whom it truly is fulfilled… is in Jesus Christ.
Just look at the verse quoted above… “God sent”.
“Godsend” comes from God sending Jesus into this world to die for our sins, taking them away from us by bearing them upon himself… so that we could all be saved from them.
What a gift, and what a salvation… truly a godsend. It was badly needed, and God freely gave it to us at cost to himself.
The advent of Christ was the single most needed event in human history, one that we set our calendar around… BC and AD, and this time of year is on our minds more than usual.
Christmas has come up so quickly this year, and as we think about gifts to others, we should all give serious thought to God’s Godsent gift of Jesus Christ as another year passes by.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side. Great post. Thank you.
