Jesus Stands Alone

John 8:9 “And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”

Hello readers, blogs have been a bit fewer and far between of late. But here is something I posted recently on my fb, it’s very short, but I hope this thought from God’s Holy Bible will be a blessing to you.

And I want to encourage you to look to Jesus the author AND finisher of our faith. Remember, it’s him and his faith that will take us through this journey of life to the other side!

The verse is taken from John 8, which begins with the famous and much loved story of Jesus not condemning a woman caught in adultery… who is dragged before Jesus by some religious hypocrites trying to use her sin to trip him up… they’re pretty nasty folk.

In reply, Jesus says the famous words “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her” … and they all troop out because they’re all sinners just like her… as we all are. They’re hardly qualified to throw stones at her.

But the phrase “Jesus was left alone” really stood out to me this particular time I read this… because that busy temple emptied out completely and him standing there with the woman truly highlights the fact that Jesus really does stand alone.

He stands alone from every other person who has ever lived, from every other religion, from every other god. Noone and nothing is on level or equal or comparable terms with him.

He stands alone in condemnation… he could have condemned her because he was perfect enough to.

But he also stands alone in forgiveness… because only he can and does truly forgive our sins.

He stands alone in truth… because he has perfect knowledge and wisdom and a flawless character.

He stands alone also in grace and mercy… as he gloriously showed in his life changing dialogue with this woman.

And as Christians we should let him stand alone as he does, because it’s when we do that good things happen in other peoples lives.

I’m not full of love and perfect attributes so don’t look to me and I would never point to me… but I can point you to the Son of God who truly stands alone as he did this day… and as he still does today, ready to save every broken sinner.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
