Acts 24:25 – And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
Hello readers, there will never be a convenient season to be saved. The convenient season you’re waiting for to get saved and serve God will never come. There won’t be a better time, the better time and the convenient season to get right with God does not exist.
I’ve talked to several people in my life who are Felix in this verse and in this chapter. They listen to God’s word, they may even tremble, they may not even be opposed to God and salvation even… but right now, getting saved is just not convenient for where they are at in life. They’ve got more pressing matters, things they want to do first, and it’s just a “not now”.
Even many Christians do not obey and serve God because his word is not convenient for what they want to do in life. I was going to do a blog on “The Inconvenient God”, because the more I read, the more convinced I am that God will not save you at your convenience… and that nothing about God is convenient to this world or to us.
If you are unsaved, I can tell you based on God’s word that if you are waiting for a better time to “look into the matter further” or “start your faith journey”… it’s just not going to ever happen. The Bible says NOW is the accepted time, TODAY is the day of salvation. If you don’t get saved while the Holy Spirit deals with you now, as Felix did not here… you may never ever be saved.
Just imagine being T H A T close like Felix was to be saved … yet missing out forever. Felix really was “that” close, just look. He was trembling… because Paul’s sharing of the gospel had power in it… because the gospel of Christ is powerful. Getting saved from your sin is the most important issue of your entire life. And Felix was being convinced and convicted… but salvation was not convenient.
If you read on, go on and search “Felix” in the King James Bible, and you will never find that convenient season ever arrived for Felix. We have no record that he ever got saved. We have four seasons, but that fifth season is Satan’s lie. There will never be a more convenient time to get saved or live saved. And Satan has managed to turn many “not nows” into “not ever”.
And let’s face up to it. Getting saved is inconvenient. This membership style Christianity just doesn’t cut it. We have never had a greater amount of casual convenient Christians. Yes getting saved is simple, but it’s definitely not convenient. Paul preached “that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” Tribulation doesn’t sound that convenient. Anyone want to go through that? People are strolling into Christianity, yet nobody strolls into real salvation because it’s convenient for their life. This I’m a Christian now stuff with no conviction of sin and no evidence of conversion is getting really old.
Back to the main point though… and if you’re waiting for a better time, or you’re planning to “book” Christ in at a later date in your life… know that hell is already moving beneath your feet to meet you at your coming. She’s enlarging her mouth to swallow you up. Because if you’re not saved… you’re not saved at all. You can wait for the stars align and for everything to fall into place so you just stroll into the kingdom of God… but that does not exist. Jesus said STRAIT is the gate and NARROW is the way that leadeth unto life and FEW there be that find it. Look up that word strait, maybe it doesn’t mean what you think it means.
Honestly, I’ve talked to several people who are just like Felix. They’re not opposed, they may even be somewhat convinced, and they may be feeling some conviction of truth… but they’ve put it off… and years later… that convenient season still hasn’t arrived, and maybe it never will. The Holy Spirit has moved on, the dove has lifted… and there is no promise or guarantee God will ever move on the deep of their heart ever again.
Things will never be “right” to get saved. Likewise, things will never be “right” to obey God and serve him and follow Christ in your life. We have an inconvenient God with an inconvenient Word with an inconvenient truth. A convenient Christianity is a Christianity without conviction, without conversion, without correction and without change. God is not at your convenience, and he will not make it all convenient for you. End of story, he is the inconvenient God and that convenient season you’re waiting on does not exist and never will.
Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 30 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
