So You Know The Heart Of God?

John 1:18 – No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Hey all, new blog today, and hopefully a blessing to you. This is an important thing to understand. So many people say they know God’s heart… it’s a bold and audacious claim… but today we will compare that statement to what the Bible says. Just because someone claims they know the heart of God doesn’t mean they know the heart of God. We can actually know what the heart of God is from the horse’s mouth. The verse quoted above shows that Jesus is in the heart of God! He is in the bosom of the Father, it’s from whence he came, and it’s where he’s gone. If there is anyone in existence who knows the heart of God, it’s Jesus Christ. He in fact is the ONLY one. It is impossible to read John for instance and not get this truth. Jesus said in John 10:30 – I and my Father are one.

Without Jesus Christ and apart from Jesus Christ… you don’t know and cannot know the heart of God. You can’t even know God much less his heart. The natural man cannot, the carnal man cannot… only the spiritual man can comprehend and know God. If you’re not born against as Jesus said we MUST be, you cannot see or enter the kingdom of God. You’re not in his kingdom if you’re not saved, you don’t know God and you don’t know God’s heart. You need the Holy Spirit to know God’s heart. That’s why Jesus sent him to those who believe and throughout the world working in the hearts of men to draw unbelievers unto himself. And the Holy Spirit doesn’t go rouge, he points us to Jesus Christ. He points us to the word of God… where God’s heart is declared. It doesn’t matter what you say or think or whatever… as the Bible says in Romans, let God be true and every man a liar… because God’s heart is what the Bible says it is. The only way you can know or even conceive of that which is called God… is through what Jesus Christ has declared of God. He is the Mediator between God and man.

Just before his death, after those years of ministry… Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father. The disciples didn’t get it. John 14:9 – Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? … But at least they knew they were missing something, there are many people who presumptuously and through their self willed life proclaim they know God’s heart in and for their life. In fact, it’s how they excuse and justify whatever they do. God wants me to do this and God wants me to do that. So many refer to God… yet they don’t know him or his heart. God gives us concrete evidence, anyone can say anything, or claim anything… that’s why we are meant to fact check it against God’s word.

At the heart of God is Jesus Christ. He in fact is God. So he ought to know what God’s heart is! As already stated, knowing God’s heart is only possible through knowing God’s Son, who has declared the heart of God to man. John 12:49 – For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. It’s pretty clear isn’t it? When Pilate was quizzing Jesus Christ on whether he was king, we find out more about why Jesus came into the world. John 18:37 – Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. So we read that Jesus came to bear witness unto the truth. He came with a message from God, and it was quite a message given who was carrying it… the very Son of God. Words direct from heaven… why would we place our faith in any other? That’s why Peter said… to whom else shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. Jesus came to declare the truth, the heart of God to man. But boy! it wasn’t quite what most people expected or wanted or thought it should be! In fact, the heart of God being declared unto them by the one who actually knew the heart of God had them crying out crucify him, crucify him! The entire Bible is the record of Christ to man. If man keeps good records, God keeps a perfect a record. People hate it though because they are not of the truth… not because it’s not the truth. The word of God just sorts out the heart of man. Whether you assent to it or not, the truth remains the truth, even if you choose to turn away from it.

So to know the heart of God you need to know Jesus Christ. You need a personal relationship which is begun by believing on him personally for salvation. And you need to get to know him through his word. You may ask… how can we know Jesus Christ? Because you and I haven’t physically seen him… we only know about Jesus Christ through a book… the Bible… and the Holy Spirit ministering that book to our heart whom Jesus gives to all those who believe on him. Does that seem restrictive or inadequate to you? But there’s nothing better! What could be better than concrete hard evidence. We don’t need to follow cunningly devised fables, and we in fact haven’t. Peter saw Jesus transfigured, and he pointed people to God’s word, not to his mountaintop experience. God’s word is more sure than experience. Look at Job’s friends, basing their assessment of things on experience, and they had a lifetime experience! Yet God said they didn’t say what was right. Don’t trust your feelings and experiences… Elijah saw the wind, the earthquake, the fire… God wasn’t in any of it… then came the still small voice. It’s God’s word folks. And this is the record… the Bible says. God’s word being written down and available to all is so important, there is nothing private, no private interpretations… the Bible speaks of the common salvation, the faith once delivered unto the saints. Jesus told Pilate that he spoke openly in the world and in secret said nothing. God’s heart is made plainly known for all to see, the same truth that applies to us all from the same Creator of us all. People have all their special truths, this is my truth kind of attitude, this applies to me… it’s rubbish. Post modernist thinking where we all have our truth and it’s all equally valid… no Jesus is the truth. It shatters all our little worlds we try running to to escape, like Cain did, from the knowledge and law of God.

Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to us because he makes us alive and ministers that book to our hearts. It’s just ink on paper until you are spiritually alive to receive the words of God that are spirit… John 6:63 – It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Satan tries to detach us from God’s word, because he knows in removing us from God’s word, he’s removed us from the heart of God, and from the faith. Don’t listen to fables and rubbish, go to the Bible to see what the Holy Spirit actually does. Jesus said of the Holy Spirit in John 16:14 – He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. Many people know a Jesus, yet they show little regard for God’s word. Interesting that. Maybe it’s because their Jesus is an idol, something warned of time and time again throughout the epistles. 1 John 5:20 – And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. Do you have an understanding reader? Do you know him that is true? Why did John stipulate that THIS IS the TRUE God. The Jesus he’d written about in John and 1 John is the TRUE God… because there are many false made up gods out there… even with “Jesus” attached to them. That’s why you need the Bible, you need it to be able to discern the fakes, without it you have no spiritual sight to see a spiritual phony.

Do you want to know the true God? The true God is the one found in the pages of his book. Anything else is just a creation from the imagination of man. We are meant to cast down imaginations and remember the state of man in Genesis 6? The Bible says that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The Bible speaks of filthy dreamers in Jude, and in Genesis 11 God had to scatter them at Babel because nothing would be restrained from them what they had imagined to do. Imaginations are dangerous people. Break down the word imaginations … image is in there. We are meant to get our image of God from the Bible, not carve out the image like they did with the golden calf with graving tools. While Moses was away, the mice did play. Jesus went away, and people have been furiously fashioning golden calf religion, the works of their hands, the product of their mind, the product of a heart departed from God though they had a religious veil to it all.

Remember, the Bible is the testimony of Jesus Christ. They couldn’t and you cannot understand it without him. The Jews are still blind because they do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as their King and Saviour. It is Jesus alone who is worthy and able to open the book in Revelation. Because the book is about him. After Jesus rose from the dead, he met two men on the road to Emmaus who were perplexed by all the recent happenings at Jerusalem… and Jesus rebuked them for their lack of understanding of the scriptures… they couldn’t understand without Christ showing them and through understanding it was Christ in the pages of the book … Luke 24:27 – And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Jesus rebuked them for being so slow of heart to believe… see it takes belief in God’s word. Can you simply just take him at his word? Or isn’t that enough? Remember Namaan… he got upset and stayed a leper because he expected a great show, not healing through simple obedience. It was when he obeyed the little thing the prophet had said that he was healed.

We truly do not understand how incredible it is that we can actually know the heart of God. Not as a vague sentiment that sounds good that really only fools ourselves and others but with no basis. But we can read the Bible and know God’s heart. But because it isn’t how people want it to be, or what they expect it to be, or how they think it should be, or doesn’t fit to where their heart is at… they don’t care for it. Proverbs 18:2 – A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. This is what people are like. Keen to assert their beliefs, philosophies, ideas, questions… whatever… because they’re not interested in God’s heart… but in their own. So you can say whatever you want claiming God, claiming to know God’s heart, claiming God upon your life… but we can know what God’s heart truly is. You don’t have to be duped, unless you just prefer a lie because it makes you feel good and doesn’t force you to confront truth. We know what God’s heart is. Holiness is at his heart, no sin can dwell in his presence. But we alos know that he is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. We also know that God’s heart is that he so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. There’s much we can learn about God’s heart from the one who is at the heart of God… who declares it unto us in written down form. Jesus is the one there… he is the one in the position to tell us what God wills, what God thinks, what God says. He said it openly, he declared it to the intent we might believe and be saved.

What’s even more incredible is that we can be in God’s heart. That’s why Jesus has gone away to prepare a place for us. John 17:24 – Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. We can not only know the heart of God through Jesus, but if you are saved, you can be there with him. If you go to a Christless eternity, that is outer darkness, that is eternal separation from God. What could be worse than to be separated from the very source of light, of good, of holiness, of truth, of love… to be separated eternally from the purpose for which you were created. To be forever in the clutches of sin and evil than to be in the heart of God. Oh, the darkness and coldness and numbness of a life that is separated from his Creator. God’s heart is for you to be saved so you can have life eternal, but you are so determined with your sin and rebellion, you don’t want God’s heart. I pray that is not the case for you. God has made his heart known through his Son Jesus Christ. John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. That’s the way folks. Jesus is the way. If you want to know God’s heart, if you want to be in God’s heart… it’ll depend on what you do with the Lord Jesus Christ. He is how you know God’s heart. Because he is God’s heart.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)

I love these verse’s for they describe what you are saying:
Joh_10:30 I and my Father are one.
Joh_17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Php 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
    Php 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Also this scripture, which so many do not realize, is that we maybe one with Him as He is One with the Father.
    Lord bless you!
my email, I would like to know you better, for I live alone, and finding like minded believers in these latter days is very rare.
