Where Did Cain Get His Wife?
Genesis 4:16 – And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
Genesis 4:17 – And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Hello readers, where did Cain get his wife? A common question isn’t it. If you’re here, it’s because you either genuinely want to know… or it’s just one of your million questions which is really just designed to justify and excuse yourself from God. You ask this question, or you pose it, because you’re trying to prove the Bible wrong, that it has mistakes… that God’s ways are unequal. All the best with that, because everyone that has attacked the Bible, well the Bible is still here and they are not. God’s word is eternal, it does have the answers if you are truly seeking, and there are many things God doesn’t say… because he doesn’t owe you an explanation and he wants you to trust him. Trusting him doesn’t mean surrendering your intellect, in fact trusting him will make you wise. Because wisdom comes from God. You can be the smartest worldly person, but ultimately how foolish you are when you end up in the hell that awaits a Christ rejecting life. But that’s why most people ask the question anyway. In this blog we will tackle this question, to which there is a simple answer.
However firstly… it’s important to note that this question is usually followed by another… by another… by another. Because people aren’t really looking for an answer… they are just like that man who questioned Jesus trying to trip him up (Luke 10:29) … seeking to justify themselves. Why people really dispute the Bible is because they aren’t right with God, there’s a problem there, they love their sin. They’re spiritually dead, they’re the ones at fault… not the God they’re trying to pick holes in… and look at Cain. He was the murderer, he was the guy in the wrong… but he pointed his finger. He lied. And people are liars. That’s why the Bible says let God be true and every man a liar. Stop lying to yourself first and foremost… that’ll pave the way for truth. And how appropriate they ask this question regarding Cain, who is nothing other than a picture of themselves. A man who wasn’t right with God, who was evil, who was unrepentant, who didn’t care for truth. He asked God a question… am I my brothers keeper? Just after lying to God. When people ask this question they are just like the man in their question. They’re trying to make God the problem like Cain did, but it stems really from the fact they’re upset with God because they’re the problem. Newsflash … God doesn’t accept you if you are unsaved, no matter who you are and what you bring to the table… we are only acceptable to God through Jesus Christ… he is the way, the ONLY way to God. Nothing else, no matter who you are or what you do makes you worthy or acceptable. And that makes the world mad.
It is ironic that this question is designed to bring up the “incest” topic. That’s where it’s headed. Oh God made a system where incest happened! But with the question comes a presupposed notion that incest is wrong to begin with. But where do you get that from to start with? How do you know what is wrong? What is wrong? Why is it wrong? What do you affirm from? Because we live in a world where everyone’s got their truth, and who are you to say what is right and wrong if it’s according to each individual? In truth, many people know there is a standard somewhere, just they WANT it to blurry enough to excuse their own sin. Heaven forbid there is a black and white line of right and wrong which they are on the wrong side of… having to do something about!
Many people gauge “wrong” by whether it hurts or not.. or consent… but we live in a world where love is love right. Not to mention the don’t judge me! Can’t incest people consensually love each other? So why are you so morally indignant at it? You don’t mind two men marrying each other or telling a child that he can be a girl if he wants… right? The thing is, you don’t have a true basis to say incest is wrong to begin with if you don’t believe in God. It’s all subjective and relative… a world without God is the fluid world we have today… where truth is what everyone says it is, that’s your truth, that’s my truth, and happy days. But if you don’t believe in God, you have no authority to say incest is wrong. Your question designed to unhinge “God” borrows from God to begin with. A bit like that breath you have to type which comes from God, which you then use to try and slate him. If you say incest is biologically wrong because it causes issues due to genetics… well isn’t something like sodomy even biologically worse? That’s against nature, it’s full of disease, and it doesn’t produce children… it is harmful in every way… spirit, soul, body. If it’s consensual, who are you to say a brother and a sister is wrong… when you say man and man is right? You have no leg to stand on.
As already stated… morality is borrowed from God in the first place. Evolution doesn’t produce morality, though they attempt to explain it. Evolution is at it’s core… selfish. It is amoral. If you believe in evolution, you don’t believe in something like selflessness. You think you do, but you don’t. Even your selflessness is selfishness. You see in the evolution economy, everything is selfishly motivated… so even doing right is really just about advancing myself. And you’d rather take the lie of evolution, which has produced racism, world war, genocides, abortion… a religion of death… over Jesus Christ, who gave his life for us? Who gave his life for those who hated him? What a world to live in. Are you a product of billions of years of out competing your enemies… then… where did Cain get his wife? It’s insane. Though you try, you can’t escape God, just like Cain did. Morality exists because of God. It comes from God. Because God is what good is, anything not of God is evil. You cannot have good ratcheted from God, just like light, just like truth. That’s why the best he can give us is himself… not an item, not possessions… Himself. God put the knowledge of right and wrong in man. He put the knowledge of God in man. We all have a conscience. Conscience means “with knowledge”… the Bible says Jesus has lighted every man that has come into the world… and that we are without excuse. But the problem with conscience is that you can put God out your mind, you can walk away, you can sear your conscience… and man in his unrepentant sinful state easily puts that knowledge out of him. Remember Cain… he went OUT from the presence of God. It is so ironic to use this question to try and “break” the Bible, when you consider the man who is mentioned in the question is just a picture of yourself.
Where did Cain get his wife? Well God created a man and woman, and from that he started the human race. They lived for hundreds of years and had sons and daughters. We all come from Adam. So do the maths? Cain married a sister, or close relation of some sort. God started the human race with two people (Adam and Eve), so in order to get the population going they had to marry each other and have children. God said to them to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. He ordered them to spread out. They tried NOT doing that at Babel later on. It is actually significant and necessary that we all come from Adam. You know why? It proves we are all equal. Racism doesn’t originate in the Bible. Racism comes from someone like Charles Darwin, who is celebrated, but who preached the inferiority of negroes as the link between apes and men, as less civilized… as less human. We won’t devote any time to this guy, but if you can read “The Descent of Man” and come out of that thinking that this guy is someone to believe over the Bible… you’re crazy. Coming from one man means that we are all equally human, equally man. Acts 17:26 says that God hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth… all from one man, all of one blood… and all candidates for the one salvation. There was no intermarrying with a separate race or separate creature, we all trace back to Adam. To start a human population they needed to marry each other, because they only could marry each other. Conditions were very different back then… they lived for over 900 years… that’s superior genetics, marrying each other didn’t have the devastating impacts it has post flood.
You know what’s funny, well not really, but while you ask this question trying to discredit the Bible… if you believe in evolution, well you know that evolution says we all come from a common ancestor? So no matter what it is inescapable that we are related. Evolution of course gets it all wrong though, as our common ancestor isn’t an ape or a fish or an amoeba or a rock… but the man Adam. And truly we all originate from God. You’re fortunate we are all equally human and from Adam, because salvation is extended to MAN by Jesus Christ. He became man.
While we are all related, God did institute laws against incest, because nowdays it is degenerative to marry or have sexual relations with a near of kin. There is also a “eww” factor to it. But it seems ironic that those that would pick at the Bible would then support same sex marriage, would then be fine with fornication and adultery and all sorts of sexual deviancy and sin. You see, people are just making it up as they go to suit themselves. They aren’t really interested in truth. They aren’t really interested in God. They are keen to excuse themselves and absolve themselves from having to answer to just God. So they try and pick holes in it to make God wrong or the bad guy so that they are free to live how they want according to what they think. That’s Cain. Behind the questions are a Cain. Really just someone who won’t repent, who is wicked, who hates God not because God is wrong, but because they are in the wrong. While you criticize God you believe a theory like evolution which preaches that we are not equally human. Abortion came from people who wanted to murder the black population because they were preventing society from advancing to a higher level. Where did Hitler’s thinking come from? Where did Cain get his wife… maybe you should be asking… what must I do to be saved? Man got himself in an awful mess. All this from one man’s disobedience. It is necessary we all came from one man, that’s how God designed it. Salvation came through one man too. Jesus Christ is that man, God made flesh, and salvation is extended to all of us freely today. It’s time to stop with stupid questions, and to start believing.
Romans 5:18 – Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Romans 5:19 – For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
