As We Have Heard, So Have We Seen
Psalm 38:8 “As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.”
Hello readers, this is my last blog before I get married. It’s been quite an amazing time of life for me, but with many challenges, many Satanic challenges to God’s working in my life.
God’s blessings can sometimes be a bit unusual, because it’s been so blessed and yet come with intense warfare also.
I was recently thinking of a blog I was meaning to write but never wrote “If it be so, why am I thus?” … that is the question that Rebekah had when she finally conceived after many years of being barren… and it was such a blessing from the Lord to finally conceive, and yet there was a fight within her womb going on!
And she was like… what? What kind of a blessing is this?
God’s blessings can sometimes come with an ensuing struggle like she had.
It’s been such a blessing from God for me, I am so undeserving of his grace and mercy, totally at his mercy. But this blessing has left me with some questions also, maybe just like Rebekah had. If you did this God, why does it have to be like this.
I’ve had these questions before. Maybe you got saved and it was so amazing there for a while… and then the fights came, from family, friends, within ourselves, then we have days, weeks, months, years and we may not feel so saved or so blessed like we are and the Bible tells us we are… “if it be so, why am I thus?
See what God said to Rebekah! Because God was using the struggle of the twins within her to produce separation… they were two very different people inside her. They are in me also. But God uses the big struggles in our blessed life to produce separation, strength and service to him in our life. God’s doing a bigger work in our lives than we think!
If all that doesn’t make sense… I’ll write about it another time!
Thank you for reading my blog, and they will continue! I haven’t done as many because my life has had a lot going on, but there is still nothing better than writing about my Saviour “That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.”
Today I quoted from and I wanted to share this verse from Psalms, which was an encouragement to me. This Psalm looks forward, and it looks forward to the city of God. You looking forward to seeing the city of God? I know I am. Are you looking forward to seeing who you have trusted and hoped in, who’s word you have grown to love? “The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.”
For now, we live by faith, and that faith is tested to the limit, God even being ever so merciful in and through it all. But we see through a glass darkly as 1 Corinthinans 13 says, and only get rare glimpses of him, all while he watches us tenderly and lovingly “My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice.”
One of the inspirations for my blog those years ago was Isaiah 2, and a time in the future of great blessedness, where people will want to go and hear from God, who will want to walk in the light of the Lord, a time where Jesus Christ returns and rules and reigns and righteousness, joy and peace fills the earth.
Well, this Psalm looks forward to mount Zion being established … and a time where “as we have heard, so have we seen”. My goodness I look forward to that, because so much of our life is faith, we believe, and therefore we speak… one day our faith will turn to sight.
I hope as you’ve heard, so you’ve seen for yourself God’s truth in your life. As you heard of salvation and being born again, I hope you’ve seen God’s tender love and working in your life.
The queen of the south came to see Solomon because she’d heard of his majesty and might and wisdom… but when she saw, she said “behold, the half was not told me”. She made a long journey to see Solomon, we are on a bit of a journey ourselves, I hope you’ve found that what you’ve seen is even better than what you heard.
There’s an old hymn that says “It will be worth it all, when we see Jesus”… it’s going to be worth it Christian!
One day I hope you truly see God’s faithfulness, how God never lied to you, he never lied about anything. You’re going to find it’s not only just “as he said” but that it was so much more, and so much better even “God having provided some better thing for us”
Christian, inevitably you will find that “as we have heard, so have we seen”. When faith turns to sight! God doesn’t overpromise and underdeliver. He doesn’t exaggerate. It’s all as he said. And he’s promised good to us, he will deliver. There’s no mismatch between what we hear from God and what we see in the end. You will find out he is worth it… because he always was worth it. We find out God’s witness truly was true… because it always was true.
And we see this in the Bible and in our lives… as Moses had heard about the land promised to Abraham… so he saw from the vantage point of mount Nebo before he died. “And the Lord shewed him all the land… And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob”
Yes, we know he didn’t go in for himself just yet at that time… but when Jesus Christ arrived, we see Moses in that land at the mount of transfiguration! Jesus Christ will take you to the promised land for your life.
Job found out that “as we have heard, so have we seen”… he’d heard of God, and he’d served God faithfully, and through a fiery trial in his life, which stretched his faith to the limit, inevitably God caused him to see “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.”
May we ask God to give us faith while we don’t see it all yet, or barely anything yet, as Jesus said to “doubting” Thomas who required seeing and thrust his hand into Jesus’ side… and after he had done so “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
May God give us the hearing of faith… it is the hearing of faith that God requires, is pleased with and rewards forever and ever. May God give us the spirit of faith of old that took Joshua and Caleb into the promised land, that caused Elisha to smite the waters and they parted in too. All while nonetheless we all do look forward to, as the hymn says “And Lord haste the day when my faith shall be sight”
I hope to see you in the city. When the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there! And it’s because God has done it, and what he does he does forever.
May he revive all our hearts, may there be a big old wagon of God’s goodness and grace come to carry you through another year … it revived Jacob of old, it can revive us again “and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived”
This has been a different style blog, but I hope you can meditate on these words “as we have heard, so have we seen” I hope you can see that it’s all just exactly how God said. I hope you see that God is our sure scarlet thread of truth as we count our days in this sin cursed world. I hope you see he isn’t a liar, he was never a liar, that he cheats no man, that he is true just as he always was true.
It’s “as” and “so” with God! It’s going to be worth it people! Just read the Psalm, the Psalmist thought so! We see it now by faith. One day you’ll see it in the city of God!

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
Lord bless you, brother! Great to hear about how things are going in your life.
