And He Shall Bring It To Pass

Psalm 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

Psalm 37:5 “ Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

… he shall bring “it” to pass!

These two wonderful verses from Psalm 37 have and always will mean a lot to me in my life, and they can for you also where you are at in life! “If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

… these aren’t just words, this is God’s word, and this is God’s promise to all his children.

Of course, to be treated as his child and he our heavenly Father… we’ve got to be his child first! and we only become his child by birth… by being “born again”, born into his kingdom when we truly receive salvation through repentance of sins and faith in Christ.

… and then we have a life to live! A real life that needs God for every second of it “the just shall live by faith” None of us ever declare independence from God. And we would need his provision in our lives “The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.”

God brought these verses to my attention in a special way, at a special time, in a special season of my life last year. Maybe you read the Bible and it’s always for someone else, but it’s actually for you.

The end of verse 5 says “and he shall bring it to pass.” What’s this “it” that it’s talking about? … The “it” is our desires… and we’ve all got them. Hopefully God has given you some godly desires for life.

Prayer isn’t a science and formula of manipulating divine favour. It’s communicating with our heavenly Father ““Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” Is he your Father?

And we need to remember in praying, that God is not like us nor does he work like us, he is so high the Bible says he has to humble himself to behold the things that are in heaven. Treat him as such!

I feel a total failure at prayer “Lord, teach us to pray”. Prayer is a special battle as we face impossibilities of life requiring divine intervention. It tests faith, and nothing tests faith like time.

Usually before we ever see answered prayer, God makes so many changes in us beforehand, because we are so sinful and fallen what we are asking for and wanting isn’t even good for us or we couldn’t receive or even be trusted if he did give us what we want.

We are not our best intercessor!… we busily intercede for ourselves with our demands! but the Holy Spirit intercedes for us far better than we do for ourselves. Truthfully, if I just “got what I wanted”, I would settle for so much less than what God had for me.

If we are praying about things we want God to bring to pass in our life… could any of us truly say we “delight” in the Lord? Could any of us say that our desires are truly Christ honouring? Sure, we want the answered prayer… but do we want him?

See, we need to get our perspective right, God isn’t Santa Claus, and he’s not our personal genie “grant a wish”. And God wants us, and far more than a “get what we want” childish relationship with him. And after we truly turn to Christ, and surrender to his will and way for our lives… what we want and what that all looks like has totally been transformed anyway.

Yes, God has made promises to us as his children, which he is good for! And we absolutely should hold God to his word, claim his promises for ourselves and bring them before God and say “God, you said this” and “It is time for thee, Lord, to work…”

Do what you can do, and what we can do is fairly pitiful, but it still counts, and then it is up to God to do what only God can do! And if he’s taken you beyond your capacity, then all the more glory and power to him.

God does still answer prayer! Contrary to what evil people in the Bible say “The Lord hath forsaken the earth, and the Lord seeth not”… he hasn’t forsaken or can’t see those that trust in him, the Bible says his ears are open to their prayers… and he does care for you, as he does for me , and he will just bring it all to pass in a far greater way than you could ever imagine.

Believe what God has said. And then believe in him to do it. Abraham got made a pretty massive impossible promise… and he believed IN the Lord… and just like it went for Abraham, so it will be for you “… and he shall bring it to pass.” Count on it! “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
