Are You In The Kingdom? …Read John 3!

If I was going to recommend one chapter in the whole Bible to read, it would be John chapter 3.

John 3 begins with a well meaning, sincere, religious man called Nicodemus coming to see Jesus by night.

Why visit Jesus at night? Well, he’s scared what other people will think, this is covert ops!

To get to Jesus Christ we have to get past caring what everyone and anyone else thinks… which is not that easy for most of us!

But still, Nicodemus is looking for answers… but it’s a funny sort of visit, because Nicodemus doesn’t even really know what to ask… but he’s ready to listen to Jesus, and that’s a good place to be in life for us all!

But then the first thing that Jesus tells him is that he has to be “born again”.

… Huh!? Why would Jesus tell him that? Nicodemus has the reaction we all would have.

But the fact is, there is nothing to discuss between the two if this is missing from Nicodemus’ life.

Because neither Nicodemus, nor any of us, will have the ability to understand and receive what Jesus is telling him and the answers he is looking for, if he is not born again.

What does “born again” mean? It is the spiritual birth of an entirely new person within that happens at salvation. Nobody makes it happen, nobody sees it happen, but your life is suddenly totally changed forever.

The new birth is critical to Christianity, and the presence or absence of it explains most of what and why we see going on in Christianity today… good and bad.

Being “born again” is how you enter the kingdom of God. If you are not “born again”, you are not in the kingdom of God.

There are many professing Christians who are not in the kingdom of God! No, I don’t get to say who is or isn’t, but what we do know is that there are evidences either way and that we would all be surprised who isn’t!

Because even just look here, this guy called Nicodemus wasn’t… and yet he’s a “master of Israel” and a “ruler of the Jews”. So it is entirely possible to be religious, dedicated, sincere, well meaning, even “good”… yet not born again!

It’s good for each of us to ask ourselves, if we are claiming to be Christian… am I born again? Because Jesus said “ye must be born again”.

Everything in life depends upon this fact, so be sure about it, because this must be in place and the starting point and foundation for our Christian journey… or it will all have been in vain.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
