A Love That Has No Equal
Song of Solomon 5:9 “What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?”
Song of Solomon 5:10 “My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.”
His love stands alone.
There is no one that will love you like the Lord Jesus Christ loves you.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 31:3 “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
I hope God’s love has appeared to you, true love in the face of Jesus Christ.
You will never know the love of God until you call upon the name of the Lord as a broken sinner, and he saves you “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”.
In Song of Solomon, we have a most wonderful love story, and probably one of the most neglected, misunderstood and manipulated books in the Bible.
It’s between a man and a woman, take note, and how they love each other.
And it’s not just another love story, because it’s the Holy Bible, and in it, we are meant to see and know the love of God, a love totally unrivalled, but perhaps unknown as this book may be to you.
The love of God, along with his grace, are two attributes of God that are continuously misrepresented, favoured because they are “positive attributes” but in the fleshly mind used as if a license for sin rather than a reason and privilege to holiness, sanctification and sacrifice of one’s life for God… not because I have to, but now because I want to, because he loves me, and I love him.
But today in this verse, extracted from the fifth chapter, the woman looks for her beloved, she was sleeping and didn’t open the door when he was knocking, and he withdrew himself.
Reader, there is a time in life to respond to God, when he comes knocking on your heart, you best open “ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
But realizing how much she wants and needs him, realizing the poverty of her life without him… now she awakens and moves to find him, and have you ever seen Christians who have long neglected God’s continual knocking on their heart now trying to find God , and in all the wrong places?
In trying to find him, she meets other women, asking if they’ve seen him, and where he is… and telling them to tell her if they find him.
An immature Christian will always try to find Christ in other people, perhaps the pastor, perhaps getting religious, searching here, there and everywhere, when all they need to do is call upon the name of the Lord for themselves.
God wants a relationship with you, for you to know his love, even if noone else. Stop running to people, start running to God.
But the women say back to her, and basically put they say “what makes your beloved so special more than any other beloved?”
… What makes your guy so great?
Isn’t he just another guy? … maybe you think this about Jesus right now.
In modern relationships in this world, people often move from one to other, with their new one teeded up before they dump the old one (just being honest!) trying to find something exceptional, only to realize its just more of the same.
The woman at the well was in this case, she’d chewed through five husbands and was on her sixth man when our Lord met her and changed her life.
See, he had something to offer truly different, and a free gift from God no less… and did you know God’s love to you is a free gift from heaven? Surely you’d take his outstretched hand.
There is nothing to rival or compare to the love of Christ.
See, Song of Solomon is called the Song of songs, and though Solomon had so many women… he had only one true love, only one experience to sing with his soul about… but sadly like him, we can bestow our love many other places and on many things and people that do not love us back ever like Jesus Christ does.
Maybe you are not a Christian and you have not yet seen or known the love of God, because you’ve never been rescued from the pit of sin, you’ve never had the love of God shed abroad in your heart… you’re missing out on the reason for living.
There is one love in this world that stands alone, it is the love of God that he extends to us through his Son Jesus Christ“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.”
Praise… the… Lord! And if you’re saved, don’t leave that love for something that promises more but only could ever deliver less. Like Boaz said to Ruth, so Jesus would say to you once under his wings of trust… don’t leave his field for another.
Because there are a lot of things competing for your love, just like Solomon had many vying for that place in his heart… but one stands alone.
Jesus Christ’s love is without comparison. It has no peer, it knows no equal. It’s not just a love, it’s not just another love… he is THE love of God us. The Love of loves, and it will give you the Song of songs. I hope Solomons’s song may become your own “singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
