Legislation Which Will Save Your Life
Romans 8:2 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”
This is the piece of legislation which saves our soul and life. It’s God’s legislation for us, and it’s legislated in our heart when we get saved.

Law within will always trump law without.
Governance within will always trump governance without.
The reason why the Old Testament law was done away with was because it was law imposed on a stony heart… but the New Testament is better because it is law written in a new heart!
God changes from inside out, everything else can only impose from outside in.
There was nothing wrong with the Old Testament law, but it could not change a person within, it could not purge the conscience or regenerate or renew the mind and heart and spirit of man. Thus it was no permanent solution, but just as the Bible says “the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ”.

Just about every conversation these days ends up about problems we have because of the society we are in and the way things are being run. The lawmakers are hard at work trying to fix the world supposedly.
Every so many years, as state and federal cycles come around, hope is renewed as a new candidate with new promises sparks renewed optimism and hope… only to be inevitably dashed as “same old” story plays again.
===
We are living in a nation increasingly being buried under mountains of legislation… red tape, laws, policies, procedures, licenses, registrations…
Governance comes down hard and is increasingly overbearing. Freedoms are being strangled and people have to become contortionists to make themselves, their businesses and their lives free and profitable.
… A society that departs from God always needs more and more law to keep it safe. Because if you have a people with no conscience and law of God within… that’s a scary place to be…
More and more laws are made and legislation passed, but the fact is, you cannot make enough laws to govern a heart that has no law of God written in it.
===
Romans 8:2 as quoted at the start is the only piece of legislation you will ever need for life.
But has it been legislated in your heart?
Christians these days shy away from the word “law” because they’ve been so mislead about the relationship between law and grace… and they think that grace is essentially an apologist and “free pass” for a life free from the laws of God.
And then on the flipside, fundamental super conservative groups these days make a lot of legislation for their flocks, burying them under so much weight of governance because they have no trust in the governance of the heart.
Neither are right… because universally what we all need is what the Bible teaches… to be born again, which produces governance of God within the heart… the best rule for living there is.

Christians these days in many cases are trying to overhaul society’s spiral through infiltrating and incepting politics, and while admirable, the Bible teaches that the problem and solution is elsewhere.
The problem in our country and world is not political, that’s just a symptom… the problem in our society is in our hearts… my heart and your heart. Government can’t draft anything to fix that! Only God can!
After David’s (in)famous sin with Bathsheba where he committed adultery and doubled down on his sin by murdering her husband to cover it up, he prayed this “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
If you open the Bible and start “in the beginning”… you’ll find that the very first most important thing we will ever know about God is established in the very first sentence of the book… that he is the Creator.
The fact God is the Creator is fundamental, because only he has the solution. Because we are such a lost cause, our only hope is new creation, and new life. Only he can and will create a new heart in you or me… and promise a new heaven and new earth beyond this life!
If you want to experience something truly new, truly free, that will last forever, you need but look to Christ, who births a new person in you under different governance.
You want to know where the kingdom of God is these days? At the moment, his kingdom is within the hearts of believers around the world. That’s where he’s ruling for now. This world belongs to Satan… for now.
===
Society isn’t going to be overhauled by more and more legislation, in fact it’s only really taking more freedom and providing bandaid solutions… because none of their legislation can reach to the heart, in fact can’t even see the heart to fix… but God sees it, and God can and does change it, hence “ye must be born again”.
Doesn’t matter who gets voted in. This world has always been evil and wicked, and always will be until Christ comes to rule and reign having received it as promised from his Father. Until then, only the governance of God which begins at salvation can overhaul anything, starting within each of us.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side.
