Make A Difference!
Jude 1:22 “And of some have compassion, making a difference:”
How to “make a difference” in this life and in this world?
… That is the question!
Many people want to and try to make a difference the best they know how, and it is truly admirable how much of a difference many regular people make in the lives of other people by simply being kind, compassionate and so on.
We should all be seeking to make a positive difference in other people’s lives through our attitudes and treatment of others.
… But at the same time, it’s worth considering what God’s word says in order to know how to truly make a lasting, eternal difference to someone else’s existence.
See, because most of our “making a difference” has an expiry date. It ends up ultimately not really making any difference.
Hate to say it, but feeding the hungry… they’ll hunger again. Housing the homeless… they’ll need shelter again. Make the sad happy… they’ll be sad again. Giving money to the poor… they’ll need more money again. Making sick people better… they’ll get sick again. Prevent death one day… they’ll die on a future day.
You’re never going to be able to make this world a different place. This world has not changed, all the problems it’s had since the introduction of sin are the same problems it still has today.
Yes, people do have emotional, physical, psychological needs that have to be met… but the ultimate need we all share, the need that makes the difference!! is salvation through Jesus Christ.
If you were wondering how to make a difference that lasts forever… just consider what is forever!
Money, career, popularity, fame, experiences, adventures, achievements, happiness, sadness, pleasure… none of that is forever.
What is forever are human souls, and what state each soul is in now, and where each soul is going when it’s time to leave this world. …Hate to say it, but we are all going out, just a matter of when not if!
… And then what?
Yes, too much of Christianity is focused on “going to heaven and not going to hell” when it is meant to actually “make a difference” to our lives here and now.
But it’s only after Jesus Christ has made the difference to our own lives that we can then make the crucial eternal difference to someone else’s life through pointing them to him.
A lot of Christianity today is failing to make a difference by way of salvation because it’s really made no difference at all to those who profess it… and we all just have to look at ourselves on that!

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 33 y/o Bible Blogger from Adelaide, South Australia. God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to share it with others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s Jesus Christ’s faith far more than my own! Because he is faithful. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and by God’s grace I anchor my soul to it. My destination is heaven. As they say, this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through… although most of the time I feel more like I’m hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports, I currently work on an orchard and one of my main hobbies/interests is growing vegetables. I love writing. I’m always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment on my blog or through email! My blog is inspired by Isaiah 2, and Isaiah’s vision of the last days when all nations will flow unto the Lord’s house, in a future time where everyone will love to hear God’s word and walk in light of Lord. And it is my hope that my blog will “strengthen the brethren” and “feed my sheep” as Jesus told Peter. Whether you visit once or regularly, I hope my blog is of some benefit to you on your journey of life! It’s a long journey, but with Christ you will make it to the other side. A lot of churches and individual Christians go out of their way to help the poor, homeless, etc, but forget about their spiritual need. That they need to be saved.
