Stop With All The “Steps”
Exodus 20:26 “Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.”
The eightfold path of Buddhism, the five pillars of Islam, the thirty three degrees of Freemasonry… all religions of this world are based on man trying to “step up” to God.
… Not so with the God of the Bible, who in the Old Testament told Moses that there would be no steps going up to his altar.
Because salvation in the Bible is not based on “steps” of doing this, that and the other to try and please, earn favour and be cool with God… while making yourself above everyone else.
Biblical salvation is based entirely on trusting in Jesus Christ… who… if you know the story of Jacob’s ladder in Genesis… IS Jacob’s ladder… rungs and all.
Jesus is the way to heaven. Salvation from sin and getting to heaven isn’t about and through you, it’s about and through him.
Because Jesus did all the work to save humanity, and he said it is finished on the cross… whatever steps were required, he took all of them to save us… believe on him and he will save you.
And although religions really like to set up a hierarchy and system of progression, “steps” you take to in order to approach and reconcile yourself to God… which elevates you higher than others in the process… yet it never and cannot work…
As the verse says “that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon”… because every human being cannot live up to any religious pedestal they put themselves on. The higher you make yourself the more of a sad hypocrite you will be.
… Because we are all just sinners needing the grace and mercy of God at the end of the day, no matter how far we think we’ve come, no matter how stepped up higher we are. No matter how much you step it up, you’ll never be good enough or make yourself any higher than inflated self deception.
This verse not only exposes false self righteousness but also the lie of evolution… remember that chart of ape to human? We don’t come from monkeys and we aren’t evolving “up” in any way, shape or form.
But anyway… sadly today, many unsaved people get put off by all the steps that even professing Christians have put in front of them getting to Jesus Christ. Steps that they’ve supposedly made, that make themselves higher than other people and from “up there” they make salvation higher and beyond people, when it’s not.
Salvation is for the average Joe. Salvation is trusting in Jesus to save you from your sins. Anyone can do that and anyone is invited to that… stop with all the “steps”, and just get saved.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 32 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
It’s just like the Lord to know how human nature works. Amen!
You found a profound truth, and delivered it very well.
