The Man That God Has Chosen

Numbers 17:5 – And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

Numbers 17:6 – And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.

Numbers 17:7 – And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.

Numbers 17:8 – And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.

Numbers 17:9 – And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

Hello all, new blog today. There was a dispute over the man that God had chosen. Korah had led a rebellion against Moses, but it was really against God. Rebellion always is toward God first. How do you know the man that God has chosen? How do you know which God is the real God? How do you know who is the man of God? How do you know if you are saved? How do you know the man or woman that God has chosen for your life? There are so many aspects to Aaron’s rod, and today we want to keep it simple.

Firstly, the man that God has chosen must be cut down. Jesus was cut down for us. The Bible says he was numbered with the transgressors. When Aaron put his rod in with the rest of the rebels, that’s a picture of Jesus identifying with man, with sinners. Have you been cut down? Has God ever cut you down in repentance of sin? When God cuts a man down, it’s unmistakable. Without repentance, Biblical repentance… not just worldly sorrow… but a repentance that drives a man to his knees at the cross of Christ… without this repentance, there is no salvation. How do you know you are saved? Well if you haven’t been cut down… you aren’t saved. John the Baptist said the ax is laid to the root of the trees, until God lays his ax of Holy Spirit conviction of sin, there will be no need for Jesus Christ, no need for salvation.

Until something dies, it cannot produce life. Until you have died to yourself at the cross, there will be no resurrection power in your life. The man that God has chosen is a man who’s life shows repentance of sin. They came to John the Baptist to be baptized… but he said… where’s the fruit? The preacher that you should listen to is someone who’s life shows they have been cut down. Their life shows an acknowledgement of sin, a humility without which there will be none of God’s grace upon his or her life. If you haven’t been cut down, you aren’t saved.

There were lots of guys who put their rods into the mix. Hey, there’s lots of fakes and phonies and pretenders and posers out there. There’s lots of false preachers, teachers, prophets, apostles… the lot. There’s lots of people who call themselves Christians. There are a lot of religions out there. There are a lot of gods and truths out there. But there is only one truth. Jesus said… I AM the truth. You see, there was only one rod that stood out from the rest, proving the man God had chosen.

The resurrection is what proves who is true and who isn’t. It proves who is the real God and who isn’t. Who can rise from the dead but God alone? Resurrection is what separates true Christianity from the mass of posers. And if you don’t have that same resurrection power in your life, you aren’t saved, and you aren’t chosen. You’re just another rebel putting their rod into the mix, but dead as a doornail. How on earth did Aaron’s rod not just bud, but blossom and produce fruit!? That takes the power of God. The man that God has chosen has God’s resurrection power in his life. You know, when you repent of sin and trust in Jesus Christ, that’s dying to yourself and and you are raised with Christ. There is a new person born in you. Someone who is actually a true Christian, truly saved, their life shows repentance, but also deliverance and power over sin. Their life blossoms and fruits. Because you have the life force of God’s son in you.

That’s a real life of faith. Living by trusting in Jesus Christ’s life for us day by day. That’s a life that will require prayer, faith, fasting, trust. When you are a dead branch, yet alive because Christ is in you. And that happens because you trust in Christ. Hey, he was cut off, but he rose from the dead and is alive forevermore. We can only live, because he lives and lives forever. He is the way, the truth… THE LIFE. Jesus was the only one that God ever approved of by the way. He is the chosen man of God. The one man in existence that pleased God, that kept the law, that lived a perfect, holy, uncorrupted and undefiled life.

Look how this chapter starts… Numbers 17:1 – And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying … You see, this all started in Moses’ obeying God’s word. The man that is chosen is the man that has God’s word, that knows it, that keeps it. Moses obeyed God’s word. You see, it’s one thing to hear God’s word… its another thing entirely to “do” it. If we truly believed God’s word, we would obey it. When you believe in something or someone, you act upon that belief. Belief is more than just head knowledge, it carries with it a conviction of truth and a compulsion to act.

The man that God has chosen is the man with buds, blossoms and almonds. I have read Jeremiah 1 recently, and God called Jeremiah and then showed him something and asked him what he saw. Jeremiah 1:11,12 – Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. See we can often look at people’s lives and not understand what the fruit is actually. Fruit is in accordance with God’s word. The Bible speaks of the fruit of the Spirit. Is fruit in life having a successful business, making money, having life made, having a big church? No. A fruitful to Godward life is being in God’s word and being changed by the Holy Spirit to where your life now produces things like love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness, faith, temperance. The Bible says against such is no law. See God’s word doesn’t condemn that. But God’s word condemns lust, pride, selfishness, rebellion and so on and so forth. Define fruit by God’s word. Measure up to God’s word. These people after all were measuring up to God’s word… and they all fell short bar Aaron’s rod.

This rod was later placed in the ark. Why? Because the ark is a picture of Christ. And Christ is that man that the rod speaks of. He’s the one that was cut off, he died, yet he rose from the dead. His life was full of buds, blossoms and almonds. He had life, and he also gives that life to people that call upon him for salvation from sin. And thus through him, you also can bear buds, blossoms and fruit.

Which is the real God? It’s Jesus Christ. No other religion has a risen Saviour with the power over death and power to forgive. Hey, they are those lifeless dead rods trying to compete for God’s favor, approval and acceptance. And you know what… they’re rejected. The man that God has chosen is the man who’s life shows Biblical repentance and salvation. A man’s life who is in accordance with God’s word, not against it. Against such, that fruit, there is no law. God’s word accepted and proven fruit. How do we make choices in our life? Well you make your decisions based on Jesus Christ and his word. There is no difference between the living and written Word. Live based on him, because he’s the one accepted and approved by God. How do you know you’re saved? Well because your life will actually have life. If you are a dead stick, it’s because Christ isn’t in you. You have none of his life force flowing through you by his indwelling holy Spirit. You’ve found no place of repentance, but rather you are like these rebels Moses was dealing with.

God said he would make to cease the murmuring. How many people have their own wisdom, truths, philosophies… blah blah. But it all stops at the cross of Christ. It’s Jesus Christ who matters. Romans 3:19 – Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. It was the law of God, God speaking, it sure shut all these people up. How could they argue with this? When you’re looking at your dead branch and then you see Aaron’s rod with buds, blossoms and almonds? Let me get some of that. Chuck my branch away, it’s just a useless stick. And useful only for burning. You know, if you don’t get saved, all you’ll be good for is burning. Hell is that place of burning. You can try to be a branch, but as Jesus said, if you don’t abide in him, you will be cast forth, gathered and burned. Surely you don’t want that end point.

If you want life, you need to get in Christ. It takes the power of God for something that is dead to live. You know if you are unsaved, you are DEAD in sins. You are the walking dead. Can you see that you are? Can you see yourself as a sinner, guilty before God, a moral leper in the sight of Holy God. But if you trust in Christ, God can put life into that which was dead. If you trust in Christ, he will know you trusted in him, he will come to save you and dwell in you. And you’ll never be able to be separated from him. Get saved today. Jesus is the man chosen by God. He was the one who was cut off, yet he rose from the dead. It takes God’s power. God’s power is on his Son. Jesus said all power is given unto him in heaven and in earth. That’s the guy to place your eternal soul’s fate to. He’s the one that can bring forth life.

Decisions in life. Make them according to God’s word, look for fruit, look for harmony with God’s word. God stopped the murmuring, he shut the rebels up. Throw away your dead stick of self righteousness, of self effort. Oh and we don’t trust in Christ just to save us, but we also trust in him to live every day. It’s not saving faith to start then we’ll take it from here God. No, it’s a life that starts with saving faith… and it continues in believing God. We only do, because we believe so. We stand and live on God’s promise. His promise for salvation, his promise of the Holy Spirit… all we gotta do is trust him. It’s that straight forward, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Get saved today.

Hi, my name is Joseph Zadow. I am a 30 y/o Bible Blogger. I was new to blogging once! God’s word is the best thing that we can be given, and once we have it and know it for ourselves it is both a privilege and responsibility to bring it to others! We are blessed to be a blessing! I am a sinner (for sure!) saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I am a Lord Jesus Christ follower. He is faithful even though I rarely am to him. I believe the Bible is the word of God, and stake my life on it. My destination is heaven. As they say, I’m just a passin’ through this world… although most of the time it’s more like hangin’ by a thread in Jericho! I love playing sports – particularly cricket… I currently work on an orchard and a side hobby business of mine is growing vegetables etc – they are good for you! I love writing. Always happy to talk, so feel free to leave a comment. You can read more about me and my blog here – kjvbibletruth.com/about :)
